McDonald’s Fillet O Fish (Light Hearted)

Just got myself a Fillet O Fish from McDonald’s (Drive Thru obviously). It comes with half a slice of cheese as standard - that’s a whole other issue! I want more than half a slice of cheese on my Fillet O Fish so I ask for an extra cheese slice, it costs an extra 20p. When I get my Fillet it has just one full slice of cheese! Yes, there is ‘extra’ cheese but AIBU to think if I’ve paid for an extra slice of cheese my Fillet should contain one and a half slices?

Background information: This isn’t a one off, it happens every time I order a Fillet O Fish which is my favourite McDonald’s order. I do go to McDonald’s on a relatively regular basis as my child has ASD. He is very underweight as he has no appetite but can often be tempted to eat most of a cheeseburger.

I'm not a massive McDonald's fan but I'm quite partial to a fillet of fish , I ask for salad on mine , 20p for a bit of cheese, huh !

I agree with you - If it bothered you enough I would be very tempted to mention it at the ordering window each time you order it (as ridiculous as that sounds).

With you OP - that should be 20p for a whole slice.

McDonald's never get an order right. I used to ask for my burger without tomato and every time it would still have it on so I gave up
I always find Burger King better for substitutions and extras.

I dont get why its not one of the saver menu items, You get more on a 99p mayo chicken yet the fish is priced like a quarter pounder, madness.

Hmm I’ve never had a fillet of fish at McDonald’s but I’ve always been tempted. Is it actually nice? Might finally treat myself to one later

Always reminds me of my clubbing days in the late 90s when I’d stop at McDonald’s to get one on the way home!

Have you really bought an ‘extra slice of cheese’ for 20p or ‘extra cheese’?

The fillet comes with half a slice, you order extra and get double, which they have not cut in two

Well I assume it to be an extra slice as when you ask for extra cheese on your Big Mac (also 20p) you get a full slice not a half slice

I’ve never tried it with any sauce other than Tartare as my love of Tartare sauce is one of the reasons I love the Fillet.

I was expecting this to be a "OMG how can you eat that" thread but I am pleasantly surprised. I just get mine without the cheese/tartar sauce and with ketchup instead, because fish and cheese REALLY doesn't agree with me.

Well yes, there are other burger establishments within driving distance of house. But it wouldn’t be a McDonald’s cheeseburger!

I love a fillet o fish, I wish it had some lettuce or something in it; it’s nice but a bit ‘mushy’

@bearlyactive It's never occurred to me that the fish and cheese combo is what's "disagreeing" with me! This is a revelation. I don't eat meat and the veggie offfering is rank so I really, really want to be able to eat the filet o fish. I'll persevere with a different sauce (it's also never occurred to me to ask for that!)

Nothing useful to add - just wanted to declare myself a fillet o fish lover with the rest of you. So underrated.

If you order on the app you can pretty much add / remove anything to anything! 🤤
