McDonald’s Fillet O Fish (Light Hearted)

Just got myself a Fillet O Fish from McDonald’s (Drive Thru obviously). It comes with half a slice of cheese as standard - that’s a whole other issue! I want more than half a slice of cheese on my Fillet O Fish so I ask for an extra cheese slice, it costs an extra 20p. When I get my Fillet it has just one full slice of cheese! Yes, there is ‘extra’ cheese but AIBU to think if I’ve paid for an extra slice of cheese my Fillet should contain one and a half slices?

Background information: This isn’t a one off, it happens every time I order a Fillet O Fish which is my favourite McDonald’s order. I do go to McDonald’s on a relatively regular basis as my child has ASD. He is very underweight as he has no appetite but can often be tempted to eat most of a cheeseburger.

@FilletOFish

You can add lettuce! You can also add, tomatoes, onion, pickles, bacon.
I had no idea you could amend the order... a revelation
FilletOFish · 13/01/2021 22:48

You can amend the order on just about any burger. It’s easiest done on the touch screen order points or the app - just press customise ingredients. Once you know what you like it’s easy to ask for it at the Drive Thru. There are some things you can’t do like add cheese to a hamburger 🤣

@QuestionableMouse

Spain
Portugal
The Netherlands
Italy
Austria
Denmark
Switzerland
Norway
Sweden
Finland

All offer gluten free options in McDonald's. if they can do it, there is no reason why they can't in the UK.

QuestionableMouse · 13/01/2021 23:08

I'm just telling you my experience of working there. I can't comment on any other country but the way the stores work in the UK it'd be hard to implement. @WhateverJohnnyMcNofriends

You would be surprised the amount of people who ask for a cheeseburger without cheese though 🤦🏻‍♀️

I am obviously mis-remembering, I thought it was an oriental gentleman who ordered a 'filet of fish for my wife'.

diamondsr4u · 14/01/2021 18:04

I do love maccies filet o fish.
We get extra Tatar sauce, which thankfully they don't charge for!!
Am so obsessed with their Tatar sauce that I once pestered them to sell it to me on its own. They said they are not allowed to and that it's a secret recipe!!

I still remember the day I opened my fish burger and was horrified that there was half a slice of cheese in there, I felt robbed and thought they ran out of cheese, but no that's how it is now, quite unfair I think.

Jetatyeovilaerodrome · 14/01/2021 18:08

I have never had a Fillet o Fish, I don't go to McDonald's that much so when I do I don't want to waste it and I always have my beloved Quarter Pounder (now double!) with cheese.

I always remember back in the day when Fillet o Fish was the 'vegetarian' option Grin

Westend I think the original "for my wife" was the ad I am remembering and then it became a bit of a catch phrase which was why it was used in the later ad. I always say the phrase in a blokey deep voice in slight cockney accent "forrr muy wife" Grin which I think is from the original ad.
