McDonald’s Fillet O Fish (Light Hearted)

Just got myself a Fillet O Fish from McDonald’s (Drive Thru obviously). It comes with half a slice of cheese as standard - that’s a whole other issue! I want more than half a slice of cheese on my Fillet O Fish so I ask for an extra cheese slice, it costs an extra 20p. When I get my Fillet it has just one full slice of cheese! Yes, there is ‘extra’ cheese but AIBU to think if I’ve paid for an extra slice of cheese my Fillet should contain one and a half slices?

Background information: This isn’t a one off, it happens every time I order a Fillet O Fish which is my favourite McDonald’s order. I do go to McDonald’s on a relatively regular basis as my child has ASD. He is very underweight as he has no appetite but can often be tempted to eat most of a cheeseburger.

That's the best bit... it's a tiny bit sweet and it melts in your mouth. It's delicious.

It the same buns used for the cheeseburgers etc, just steamed not toasted

Aldi do fish burgers in the frozen section, they do a southern fried flavour which is amazing to do your own at home.(with as many cheese slices as you like)

"for my wife" was from an old 80s advert for McDonalds. I think it was a bloke ordering a load of burgers and all that plus "a fillet o fish for my wife".
I think the bloke then went on to be in EastEnders.

During lockdown 1 I tried to make a homemade bacon and egg mcmuffin with cheese....it was interesting.

Ah, I was born in 80’s but I don’t remember much - too young I guess!

Can't remember who said it but plastic toys are being phased out so the store you ordered from probably didn't have any left to give.

Always reminds me of my clubbing days in the late 90s when I’d stop at McDonald’s to get one on the way home!

It would be ridiculously hard to do GF due to the kitchen set up. I can understand why they don't do it because the risk of cross contamination would be high. It would mean having two bun toasters, and a whole separate line for GF and there's just not space. (Or the staff, at the moment 😕)

If you keep the receipt from your previous order and do the little survey (takes a couple of minutes), the code you get at the end isn't just for a big mac and fries for £1.99 you can get the filet of fish and fries for £1.99. Add a regular drink and you've got a value meal for less than £3.
I rarely pay full price for a value meal anymore and may have a glove compartment full of receipts/vouchers.

This puzzled me for a while. I've bought dozens of Filets of Fish as it's one of my ASD sons Special Things I Will Eat. No tartare, Extra ketchup, extra mayo, extra cheese. But I couldn't see where the extra cheese was. Now I know.

OP my ASD son has recently branched out to Chicken Legend, I tell you I nearly put the flags out.

@NotMeNoNo mine will also sometimes eat a Filet O Fish but with only Ketchup and Extra cheese. He does like fries too but is normally too full to eat any after he has eaten a cheeseburger!

Thank you! The misspelling has bothered me too. Written fillet - my head pronounces it as fill-et. Filet is fil-ay. Filet o fish.

Isn't it called a Fishwich in the USA?

That and a small fry and chocolate milkshake is my only macs order. When I wad young I tried going vegetarian for a year. That fillet of fish, not bacon, not anything else, was my problem. Now I only have it once in a blue moon, but it's the best thing ever.

YABU for eating filet o fish when the big tasty is back on the menu!

I always order Filet O Fish at McDonald's, with extra onions (my breath smells amazing).

I heard it was created to appeal Catholics who didn't want to eat meat on Fridays. McDonald's initially had the Hula Burger, which was grilled pineapple on a bun (glad Filet outlasted that!)

McDonald's Japan has Filet O Shrimp, it's rather good!

@DressingGownofDoom I did see the Big Tasty was back and I did pause briefly thinking whether or not I should order that instead. But ultimately I decided I wasn’t that hungry and I just love the Filet too much!

Ok after a bit of googling I am convinced the original "for my wife" was the actor called Brian Croucher but I can't find any vids of the ad.
