Pajama bottoms with backside seams are unhygenic

Am I the only person who has a problem with the backside seam on pajama bottoms? The seam goes up my bum so I end up wearing night time knickers underneath to stop that happening and to stop having to wash my pjs every day. Do pj bottoms without a backside seam exist? Someone told me M&S had some, but can't find them.
@ChocolateCherrybomb I'm weak Xmas Grin and whoever's gynae said it increased frequency thrush/uti... really? I can't believe that... I have to wear knickers or I get flap burn from my fat thighs/beef curtains, but conversely, I've never been a frequent sufferer of thrush/uti's Xmas Hmm
Pmsl @"flap burn"!

It sounds really unpleasant, and I'm thankful I've never suffered from it.

I wear PJ's for a week before they go in the wash. I don't wear knickers underneath. My PJ pants don't go anywhere near my arse crack cos they are really loose. I shower every night before getting into bed.

MysweetAudrina · 18/12/2020 14:25

I wear clean jammies, no knickers. Not that much extra washing. I find if I sleep naked I fiddle and end up with fanny flavoured hands.

waterlego · 18/12/2020 14:28

I can’t wear pants to bed (nor socks or bras).

It might be worth bearing in mind that some women have...er...more in the way of external genitalia than other women do, so pants are probably less comfortable for some than for others. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I wear my PJs sans knickers and change them every night. I have loads of pairs and most are thin, lightweight material so aren’t making a huge impact on my laundry load.

I also shower daily, sometimes two or three times as I exercise a lot.

Justcashnosweets · 18/12/2020 14:30

Pants under pyjamas 🤢 just wash them every day and let your fanny breathe at night!

Waspnest · 18/12/2020 14:32

I think that may be TMI.

funtimefrank · 18/12/2020 14:32

I like to ring the changes.

If I wear a T-shirt to bed - knickers
If I wear a long granny nightie - no knickers and a good airing
I don't usually wear pjs but generally knickers if in them for daytime and the occasional no knickers but wash the next day.

I have all my bases covered

My dds are vest and knickers girls. My mum is long nightie and breathe. It's a big world.

SpamIAm · 18/12/2020 14:34

I'm confused by the fact you 'obviously' put fresh knickers on before bed rather than wear a pair for a full day, but want to be able to wear your pyjamas without knickers for longer periods. If you haven't got underwear on they need washing after every wear surely???

Topseyt · 18/12/2020 14:36

@Meowchickameowmeow

What the heck are 'night time' knickers? I just own knickers, they don't specify what time of day they should be worn.
Night time knickers are special knickers to which an oxygen cylinder is attached to allow fanny to breathe overnight. 😃
MrsA2017 · 18/12/2020 14:36

I sleep in men’s boxers and a tshirt.... comfy as hell and no seams up my arse!

Not in a sexual way I might add, but in my sleep kind of comfort way. Pyjamas seal off the area. I also suck my thumb so you know....

@pinkbalconyrailing

I don't believe there is a link between thrush and wearing pants to bed. honestly, even without wearing anything, anatomy means there is very little, if any, air circulating a woman's delicate areas.
Au contraire. My existence proves otherwise.

They sound very refreshing Smile

NekoShiro · 18/12/2020 14:47

The back seam is what shapes the trousers to go closely around your bodies curves, maybe try harem style PJ pants? The seam tends to run in the opposite direction but should also be low enough that it doesn't get all your bits wrapped up in them.

Photo from Pour Moi, I just googled 'harem sleep pants uk'

We ought to patent them really! Grin
Draineddraineddrained · 18/12/2020 14:51

Why on earth would you change your pants to go to bed???

ZippedyDooDa · 18/12/2020 14:59

Up until reading this thread, I had no idea there were so many different ways to deal with nightwear and/or underwear! My mind is truly boggled.

I'm from a night-time fanny breathing family!
BUT - I always sleep with a bra on! (The comfy stretchy crop-top kind.) Just keeps things in place lol

GoldfishParade · 18/12/2020 15:00

@MysweetAudrina
Ewwww massive TMI!

MrsHugsxx · 18/12/2020 15:03

MysweetAudrina gross

HitthatroadJack · 18/12/2020 15:07

@SkeletorAttack

Wait a minute, are people wearing PJ bottoms without underwear?!

Boak Envy

you do know that pj bottoms can be WASHED in the same manner as underwear, don't you? Confused
goopsoup · 18/12/2020 15:07

What's gross about having to scratch yourself down there sometimes? People are weird on MN.

HitthatroadJack · 18/12/2020 15:09

@TDogsInHats

Let me offer a word of caution. If you are conditioned not to wear underwear at night, consider when you are elderly and refuse to change your habits. So failing eyesight and insufficient hygiene means ,those who sleep nude or in a knicker less nightie, will make a right mess of the bedsheetsSad I speak as a carer, your bottom area does not have lungs and does not need to breathe 😂
sound advice

but most of us manage to wear underwear when we have periods, are pregnant or any other reason, so hopefully we'll be ok - and so will our carers

MrsHugsxx · 18/12/2020 15:15

goosoup, I'd rather not know about someone's fanny stinking hands thanks. You like it, you do you hun.

iwantmyownicecreamvan · 18/12/2020 15:17

I once got some pyjama shorts with a central seam - honestly in my usual size, in fact a bit bigger. As I moved round in bed they rode up and I felt like I was being cut in half.

Whatever happened to gussets? I need jimjams with a gusset not a single central seam.

DipSwimSwoosh · 18/12/2020 15:18

If you wear pants or pjs without pants for many hours, please give them a wash before the next wear.
