Pajama bottoms with backside seams are unhygenic

Am I the only person who has a problem with the backside seam on pajama bottoms? The seam goes up my bum so I end up wearing night time knickers underneath to stop that happening and to stop having to wash my pjs every day. Do pj bottoms without a backside seam exist? Someone told me M&S had some, but can't find them.

@Cokearama

My mum was the opposite. She always made us wear pants in bed with our nighties, something to do with worms.
That would be because threadworm come out during the night to lay their eggs around your anus. If you scratch during the night, those eggs would be under your fingernails ready to be spread around. Wearing underwear would add an extra layer of barrier protection.

I haven't rtft but I find the same issue with PJ bottoms op, which is why I rarely sleep in them. I will wear them if I'm going somewhere else for the night but choose to sleep in an oversized t shirt and pants as they don't move when I move in bed, like I find PJ bottoms do. Pants AND PJ bottoms are too much for me in bed - too restrictive!

The PJ's I have are all plenty big enough too!

Billben · 18/12/2020 13:57

It has never occurred to me to wear underwear with PJs. Was always told to let my undercarriage breathe during the night to avoid thrush 😀

MandosHatHair · 18/12/2020 13:57

@crumpledlinens I do. I only wear very light bottoms, mostly 3/4 length and cami tops so it doesn't make much difference to my laundry.

@Hotchocolatewithcream you must have the healthiest fanny in the world Grin

ToniTheDonkey · 18/12/2020 13:58
@SkeletorAttack my DM always said it's bad for you to wear pants at night as you've 'got to let your fanny breathe' lord knows WTF that means but I now cannot tolerate pants at night Grin
Me too, mine likes to breathe!

pessimistiquerealistique · 18/12/2020 13:59

How unhygienic not to wear underwear under pyjama trousers unless you have a collection of pyjama trousers to change every day.

CrochetToTheMoon · 18/12/2020 13:59

I’m a night time knicker wearer, i’ve tried a few times without and everything feels so...loose...

I mean I don’t have a baggy fanny so i’m not sure why it feels loose but it does.

Pechanga · 18/12/2020 13:59

This is so grim....I can't imagine wearing pj bottoms without knickers, and if I did I'd certainly wear a fresh pair every night.

I don't think the seam is your issue here...🤮

goose1964 · 18/12/2020 14:03

I wear a night dress to bed and change into pjs in the morning to slob around the house in.

pessimistiquerealistique · 18/12/2020 14:06

How can people sleep wearing pyjamas anyway? Grin

eggandonion · 18/12/2020 14:06

The pp whose dd wears her bottoms inside out is mother of a genius! I wear a lot of tshirts inside out because seams annoy me. I will investigate the pyjamas.

Ireallywantsomechips · 18/12/2020 14:08

I wear pjs 2-3 sizes too big so it feels like I’m nearly naked but the demons can’t get me because the power of pjs

BIWI · 18/12/2020 14:09

Did you not get enough satisfaction from the last time you posted this @Fangtiger?

pinkbalconyrailing · 18/12/2020 14:11

I don't believe there is a link between thrush and wearing pants to bed.
honestly, even without wearing anything, anatomy means there is very little, if any, air circulating a woman's delicate areas.

LakieLady · 18/12/2020 14:11

@bananaboats

I never wear pants with pjs but I also rarely have an issue with them going up my bum so agree size may be the issue!
Me too.

Because I'm top heavy, I always have to get PJs where the bottoms are at least a size bigger than I really need so that the top accommodates my enormous tits.

I never have a problem with the seam going up my crack.

ShivD · 18/12/2020 14:12

Never been an issue for me but I always wear knickers to bed.

Literallynoidea · 18/12/2020 14:12

I wear a nightie and let my bottom air

Emmelina · 18/12/2020 14:12

Buy a bigger pair. If they’re too big around the tummy, get some with a drawstring.

LeSangeEstDansLarbre · 18/12/2020 14:13

It happens despite the size because women’s pyjamas are cut with such stupidly short waists - they’re really low rise so if you pull them up enough to be comfortable, they are wedged up your arse crack. I’ve made a couple of pairs of my own to avoid this, using a pair from the 90s as a pattern. I can’t abide not being able to pull my trousers up towards my waist, and it’s particularly horrible when they ride down at night. I don’t tend to wear pyjama bottoms to sleep in anyway, because the legs ride up and get scrunched round my knees, but the short-waisted ones are uncomfortable even for lounging.

theDudesmummy · 18/12/2020 14:16

People sleep with pyjama bottoms AND panties on? That is a revelation! I can't sleep with either, how uncomfortable and constricting! I wear either nothing at all or nightie/nightshirt/big t-shirt and commando....

Northeastmum93 · 18/12/2020 14:16

Omg yes OP! I always buy pjs a good 2 sizes bigger as I like a v slouchy fit and still wake up with my jamas up my arse. It’s only the thinner cotton ones tho, my fluffy cosey ones don’t do this but there to hot to sleep in🤦🏽‍♀️

pessimistiquerealistique · 18/12/2020 14:17

I don't believe there is a link between thrush and wearing pants to bed.

Synthetic underwear isn't good but cotton shouldn't be a problem.

LastChristmas20 · 18/12/2020 14:18

I only wear pants to bed if I have my period.

I only find the loose short short type of of PJs are the ones that go up my crack. So I take them off before I fall asleep.

Wash my PJs every 2 or 3 days unless I've put them on after sex.

I bath/wash before bed and shower every morning. Taking my clothes and underwear off and getting clean and into my PJs (do this around 7:30pm) is a highlight of my day!

FWIW my husband also grew up wearing PJs with no underwear so clearly I'm not the only one the same.

Northeastmum93 · 18/12/2020 14:18

also cuffed bottom ones riding up round my knee, hate it!

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 18/12/2020 14:19

it's very divisive in here...

is there anyone else who varies? I sometime wear nothing,or jimjams, with and without pants... sometimes a vest top and pants, sometimes pants and a nightie, sometimes bed socks too, or instead! When the house was cold I'd go to bed zipped into a onesie and have the hood up!
