Pajama bottoms with backside seams are unhygenic

590 replies

Fangtiger · 18/12/2020 11:10

Am I the only person who has a problem with the backside seam on pajama bottoms? The seam goes up my bum so I end up wearing night time knickers underneath to stop that happening and to stop having to wash my pjs every day. Do pj bottoms without a backside seam exist? Someone told me M&S had some, but can't find them.

@HerLadySheep

Well I am stunned at all these people wearing clothes in bed! 😳 I didn't realise anyone older than about 12 wore anything in bed, but turns out there are loads of you!
Seriously? You don't see the full sections of pjs in the adult section of a department stores? Do you think those items are for decoration or they just have space to fill?
doadeer · 18/12/2020 21:28

@OHolyTights

Those flitting about naked and decrying PJs obviously do not live in draughty, freezing cold houses and have to get up in the night with various DCs and animals and weak bladders.
I'm in a toasty warm appartment - lowest temp is 20degrees I'd say!
Thewinterofdiscontent · 18/12/2020 21:29

@Arthersleep

I think that wearing any pyjamas without underwear on underneath is skanky. I wouldn't go commando during the day in a pair of jeans. And I certainly wouldn't wear that pair of jeans for several days in a row, as people tend to with pyjamas! A clean pair of pants in the morning and a nice clean big comfy cotton pair under your pyjamas at night time.
I think it’s skanky wearing knickers to bed. Sleeping is about cell renewal and skin ( an organ in its own right) being as free as temperature allows.

Having your neithers encased in underwear 24/7 can’t be healthy.

I wouldn’t go commando in the day because if I’m walking round a lot it bloody chafes your fanjo. I might go knicker less in a tight dress but wear a tampon to prevent any leakage.

Feministicon · 18/12/2020 21:32

Leakage of what?

Mum2jenny · 18/12/2020 21:32

I am happy being naked in bed. I do have animals but they don’t seem to care. If I have grandchildren staying, they don’t care. Why should I wear pjs and knickers???

HappyHomeWorker · 18/12/2020 21:36

Are they actually getting dirty? If that is the case I don’t think it’s your pjs that are the problem.

I go to bed with lovely big granny pants on, jammies with the bottoms tucked into big thick socks. I just can’t sleep naked, I like to be covered up and cosy as a pie. I find I get sweatier down there if I’m not covered up.

DumplingsAndStew · 18/12/2020 21:37

@snookercue

thrush etc your vagina is warm and moist the perfect breeding ground for bacteria.

My vagina is warm and moist for other reasons.

😂😂😂

And for the offensive, blinkered arseholes who think anyone who wears underwear in bed is a total minker - what the fuck do you suggest I use to hold in my incontinence pad?? Fuck off, how much 'fresh air' do you think your flaps are getting under your White Stuff duvet anyway?

HappyHomeWorker · 18/12/2020 21:37

@Thewinterofdiscontent surely you don’t mean wear a tampon when you’re not on your period? Isn’t that a huge no no Shock

DumplingsAndStew · 18/12/2020 21:39

Hold on @Thewinterofdiscontent what leakage are you going to stop with a tampon?

LazyName · 18/12/2020 21:41

How dirty is your backside?
Do people not wash?
People wear underwear with pjs?
So many questions! Shock

Feministicon · 18/12/2020 21:44

@DumplingsAndStew It’s the knicker wearers that have been throwing accusations of muckiness and mingerdon, the airing crew have said that it was passed down by their mothers.

changingnamesandkeepingsane · 18/12/2020 21:44

I can't stand the feeling of knickers in bed, and I also don't like my legs covered. The thought of both together makes me shudder. Nightie with a bare arse here.

Feministicon · 18/12/2020 21:44

Please tell me you don’t think wee comes out of the same hole

OHolyTights · 18/12/2020 21:45

A spot of naked trampolining is very good for airing the nethers.

NobdieTheNob · 18/12/2020 21:45

What a revelation this thread is.

I am mostly shocked by how many people wear pyjamas.

Even my DP doesn't possess any, and he's a man (he does possess a nightshirt, which is very nice for easy access).

Nighties are much better. Proper cotton nighties - not the things that look like long t-shirts and have stupid stuff written on the front of them (or, worse, Disney characters). And no pants. I would feel like a trussed up turkey in pants at night.

Your mistake is pyjamas, OP. Invest in a nightie.

00100001 · 18/12/2020 21:45

Of you sleep nakeed, then don't you have to wash your bedding every day?

Otherwise how is it different to not changing your pants every day?

MrsRogerLima · 18/12/2020 21:46

Baffles me why folk are disgusted by their own bodies. Don't you clean yourselves daily? Just wear a clean set of pj's everyday? Why does it bother you so much?

FreshfieldsGal · 18/12/2020 21:46

Never wear knickers with pj's (apart from when on my period.) I wash them after one night's wear though.
Maybe bigger pj's op?

IrisAtwood · 18/12/2020 21:47

I sleep naked. Wouldn’t dream of sleeping in knickers, I think bodies need some freedom and air.

Feministicon · 18/12/2020 21:49

What are imagining is coming off on to the sheets 😂😂
peboh · 18/12/2020 21:49

I can honestly say I've never had this issue with pyjamas. However I enjoy a baggy comfy set so size up about 3 sizes.
Nighties just aren't comfortable for me at all, and honestly if I ever saw my husband in a nightdress I'd probably laugh my head off. (Not that there is anything wrong with a man in one, but he'd absolutely kick up a fuss if I bought him one)

Feministicon · 18/12/2020 21:50

I can’t even read the word nightie without feeling sick

DumplingsAndStew · 18/12/2020 21:51

Yeah so there's noone talking about how it's 'skanky', how knicker wearers must have thrush, how the gash needs a good night-time airer?

Nah, you're right, I must have just made all that up.

Feministicon · 18/12/2020 21:53

Yes, most of it. The airing is a old wives tale really and one posted suggested the thrush thing but by all means have your tantrum.

waterlego · 18/12/2020 21:53

It’s different because pants are directly touching your vulva and are right next to your arse crack. Bed sheets, not so much. (Unless you sleep in very unusual positions).
