Pajama bottoms with backside seams are unhygenic

590 replies

Fangtiger · 18/12/2020 11:10

Am I the only person who has a problem with the backside seam on pajama bottoms? The seam goes up my bum so I end up wearing night time knickers underneath to stop that happening and to stop having to wash my pjs every day. Do pj bottoms without a backside seam exist? Someone told me M&S had some, but can't find them.

@nevernotstruggling

Pjs without pants? If you are female? *hurls
Trying to figure out if this charmer is male or female and how gender of the PJ wearer makes the slightest difference?

My DH and I both wear PJs with no underwear most nights unless we're naked or staying at someone else's house.

Neither of us have suffered any sort of hygiene issues in the 15 years we've been together.

Here we go you “ panty” wearers .... particularly the jackass “hurling”.

MysweetAudrina · 18/12/2020 16:58

@MrsHugsxx

goosoup, I'd rather not know about someone's fanny stinking hands thanks. You like it, you do you hun.
But someone's shity stinking pyjama bottoms is perfectly acceptable. And does your dh wear gloves when he is touching you?
Premiumtube · 18/12/2020 17:00

So, if you must wash your pj's after every wear (really?) or fresh pants - what about all those people sleeping naked? Do they have to wash their bedding every day too as their filthy, naked bum cheeks are sliding over the sheet/duvet cover all night?

I wear pj's 2-3 times before they go in the wash and wouldn't consider myself a minger! Grin

VicMackey · 18/12/2020 17:01

it is possible to make them without a seam, but the seam would have to be under the bum cheeks in order to make the legs, if it was a viable design option I’m sure you’d see some in the shops 😂

speakout · 18/12/2020 17:08

I didn't think it wsa so odd to wash pjs every day.

I have worn them for 8/9 hours, sweated a bit, why would I want to wear them a second or third time?

I wouldn't wear a t shirt or knickers for 3 days running nor pyjamas.

Tinselandbaubauls · 18/12/2020 17:09

Another one who wears underwear under pj’s. Always have!

thelegohooverer · 18/12/2020 17:14

Well I’ve sewn myself into my winter clothes and I won’t be unpicking the stitches until May is out.

MrDarcysMa · 18/12/2020 17:20

You need bigger PJs.
I can't wear knickers to bed but I do change PJ bottoms every 1-2 days. even then they don't get as 'dirty' as knickers as they are quite baggy so the crotch is not touching my front crack nor my back crack.

snookercue · 18/12/2020 17:20

@AldiAisleofCrap

Wearing underwear under pjs is really unhygienic, surely everyone wears a clean pair of pjs every night?
@AldiAisleofCrap

Please, why is wearing pants under pyjamas unhygienic? Just why?

AldiAisleofCrap · 18/12/2020 17:21

@snookercue because it’s sweaty and a recipe for thrush. You need your bits to breathe.

I wear cotton undies and don't get sweaty at all. Never get thrush.

RandomLondoner · 18/12/2020 17:25

I wonder if the people who wear fresh pajamas every night are related to the towel people. The towel people are the ones who only use white towels, three different ones each dedicated to a different part of the body, and only use them once each before throwing them in the laundry.

You said it was unhygienic. It's not. My fanny is no more unhygienic under pants after midnight than it is at 9am.

LeSangeEstDansLarbre · 18/12/2020 17:28

I don’t wear pyjamas in bed but I always, always wear (cotton) knickers. Lying as I do on my side with legs together, and with my ample arse, there’s no way I’m getting air to anything in that region. I’m 50 and I’ve never had thrush. So it’s obviously not the inevitable consequence that lots of you seem to think it is.

AldiAisleofCrap · 18/12/2020 17:35

@snookercue it’s unhygienic to be sweaty yes, it’s a breeding ground for bacteria. You could go commando in the day time and wear knickers to bed. It’s not about the activity it’s having knicker free time in a 24 hour period.

snookercue · 18/12/2020 17:36

But wearing knickers is not unhygienic. Not in the slightest. Not at all. Why do you think it is?

Waspnest · 18/12/2020 17:38

Why on earth do we need knicker-free time?!

TheBlueStocking · 18/12/2020 17:45

I couldn't stand to wear pants all day and all night. Are they not uncomfortable? I'm too old for jazzy pants, but even the most comfortable ones would annoy me.

SunsetBeetch · 18/12/2020 17:47

Wait. What. PEOPLE STILL WEAR NIGHTIES???!!

mistermagpie · 18/12/2020 17:48

This thread is so Mumsnet!

I've been wearing pants day and night (different ones, I'm not a minger) for 40 years and my vagina hasn't suffocated yet. What nonsense. I also wear socks all the time too and my feet haven't complained.

IPokeBadgers · 18/12/2020 17:51

You could always wear them inside out if the seam is annoying you so much....? Grin

SoupDragon · 18/12/2020 17:51
@snookercue because it’s sweaty and a recipe for thrush. You need your bits to breathe.
You don't need your bits to breath and unless you are sleeping with them hanging outside of the covers they aren't being aired anyway. Sleeping in knickers does not cause thrush.

Lollypop701 · 18/12/2020 17:52

I wear knickers with pjs, or I don’t. I wear them for a couple of days regardless. I also wear nightdress with knickers as if I put a leg out in the night my bare ass gets cold. Personally I think a bare ass attracts monsters in the night, not fresh air to my fanny (in my head id need my legs in stirrups to get it aired properly). I wash regularly, I’m not predispositioned to thrush . I don’t have fanny hands, but if you do, enjoy!
