AIBU to spend £40 on take away?

I fancy Chinese takeaway...

DH hates Chinese takeaway, prefers Indian, and so if we had takeaway we’d end up ordering from 2 places. But this means it would cost nearly £40 which seems excessive for takeaway? It would be closer to £30 if we both ordered from the same place with discounts/less delivery fee but then that means I’d have to have Indians not Chinese.

Do it!

Mollymillymolly · 28/11/2020 16:43

Yanbu. We’ve just done the same.

XiCi · 28/11/2020 16:44

I would definitely pay the extra and have chinese.

ShirleyPhallus · 28/11/2020 16:45

Well you’ll get 2 sets of replies:
“That’s my entire food budget for the year, YABU”
“I wipe my arse on £20 notes, that’s pennies, what are you even posting for?”

So it really depends on if you can afford it and no one here can tell you Smile

Crappyfridays7 · 28/11/2020 16:46

I’d just have what I fancy tbh however the amazing Chinese nearby takes cash only it’s a total pain as I rarely have cash - just a faff
However it is delicious
Takeaways cost ££ in my house anyway with 4 kids and if boyfriend over 6 people wanting different meals it’s not a regular Occurrence
Enjoy your dinner

MummmyDayCareNameChangeAGAIN · 28/11/2020 16:47

Do it!!! Grin

Redolent · 28/11/2020 16:47

We do it all the time. But then again my DH has the most limited taste in the world so if I confined myself to his preferences I'd be forever resentful.

ComDummings · 28/11/2020 16:48

If you can afford it then why not?

bobbikato · 28/11/2020 16:53

Can i be the first to say " You can cook all the food yourself for £2.50 and its better without the MSG " .

Wyntersdiary · 28/11/2020 16:53

I would do it if it meant having a chinese

DrCoconut · 28/11/2020 16:53

I had Burger King tonight. I have a gut biopsy for coeliac on Tuesday so I'm working through my food bucket list.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 28/11/2020 16:54

Ring both places, order to collect. Send dh to collect them both.

tealandteal · 28/11/2020 16:54

If you can afford itu, do it. If you are spending £30 on a trrat, why not spend the extra £10 and have something you really want.

chickensoup23 · 28/11/2020 16:55

YANBU - I love Chinese. What's on your order?!

newnewnewbuild · 28/11/2020 16:55

I'd go for the indian but that's because it's my favourite and I just can't get myself to like chinese Grin

But no, if you can afford it of course yanbu

Meepmeeep · 28/11/2020 16:55

Urgh - 2 main meals thats ridiculous. You should only have one main between 2 of you and then heat the leftovers for lunch tomorrow. Jokes - do it! 🤣

S111n20 · 28/11/2020 16:56

Do it !!

SpaceRaiders · 28/11/2020 16:57

Do it!!! And order a few extras, I must admit I’m a bit partial to left over Chinese takeaway for lunch/dinner the next day.

aLilNonnyMouse · 28/11/2020 16:57

If you can afford it go for it. OH is veggie and I'm not so we often order from different places. We even refined the art of learning average delivery times so we can stagger the orders so they arrive together.

If you were in a restaurant would you order a £10 meal you didn't want, or the £20 one you want?

GooodMythicalMorning · 28/11/2020 16:58

yanbu if you can afford it. I never find making chinese comes out the same but maybe im just not good at it. Plus for me the whole appeal of takeaway is not having to make it.

Smallsteps88 · 28/11/2020 16:58

How much of the £40 is delivery fees? It sounds very expensive for just two people.

GirlOnFireA · 28/11/2020 16:58

Ahh do it!!! It’s not like you’re eating out!

RedTawny · 28/11/2020 16:59

How much is delivery? My dh loves chinese which I like but I love curry which he will have if pushed. 3/4 takeaways end up being chinese and the odd one or two a year indian

DishRanAwayWithTheSpoon · 28/11/2020 17:02

Can you afford it? If yed then YWBVU not to! No point wasting a tenner on a takeaway you dont want, might as well spend more and enjoy it. Plus everyone knows chinese is better than indian

grapewine · 28/11/2020 17:02

@DrCoconut

I had Burger King tonight. I have a gut biopsy for coeliac on Tuesday so I'm working through my food bucket list.
Oh, how relatable. I remember that.

Good luck with your biopsy.
