AIBU to spend £40 on take away?

I fancy Chinese takeaway...

DH hates Chinese takeaway, prefers Indian, and so if we had takeaway we’d end up ordering from 2 places. But this means it would cost nearly £40 which seems excessive for takeaway? It would be closer to £30 if we both ordered from the same place with discounts/less delivery fee but then that means I’d have to have Indians not Chinese.

That's quite a lot for one meal of a takeaway- our order has come to £57 for 4 of us and we have quite big appetites / leftover.
But to answer your question- you get what you want, he gets what he wants. Life is too short, presuming no money difficulties!
@Nobeautysleep fair enough - enjoy... your DH's food sounds fab but DD vetoed Indian tonight.

As for delivery charges we have an amazing Indian across the road I can see it from my kitchen window & I'm sure the guy walks across with it & I pay £3 delivery so I can order for later, have a bath & be in pjs with wine before it arrives Blush
YES! This is the way to do it.

Me and DP spend £40 on just chinese Blush. It does do us for 2 nights though

Bluntness100 · 28/11/2020 19:06

Our takeaways are normally about fifty quid for two of us, but we order a selection of dishes, and not just a main meal each, then we kind have bits of everything. Left overs the next day.

Butterflyfluff · 28/11/2020 19:17

That doesn’t sound too bad at all - takeaway prices have markedly increased since lockdown - we pay £30 - £40 for an Indian for 2 nowadays

alreadytaken · 28/11/2020 19:20

You are supporting local businesses and helping the economy - if you can afford it enjoy it.

Our chinese takeaways normally result in leftovers for lunch the next day...

Hope you enjoyed your takeaway OP. DH and I had Chinese tonight and DCs had pizza. They're not keen on Chinese and we're fed up with pizzas and Indian, it was gorgeous, I'm still salivating now.

We're tight on delivery though, DH went out to get it all while I poured the wine at home.. Win win Wink

I make vegetable chow mein, sweet and sour chicken in batter and also dried fried crispy beef in chilli sauce better than the very good Chinese restaurant near us. Although the kitchen looks like a corn starch bomb has gone off.🤬

Coasterfan · 28/11/2020 19:31

Me and DH currently waiting for Indian, kids don’t like it so they have got Chinese. If you are paying out for takeaway it needs to be something you really want 😀

blubberyboo · 28/11/2020 19:36

Tomorrow you’ll have a free lunch with all the leftovers so that justifies the extra

BorderlineHappy · 28/11/2020 19:43

I could easily spend 40 euro on chinese food.We always order loads.

Alway order extra cause we get a dose of the munchies later on.And its handy to have.

I've got a sore eye and I thought you said you spent £40 on cheese Grin. I've been thinking a lot about cheese today Grin.

@paganbilly

you should have bought an Aldi chicken and then used the leftovers to make a curry and a chinese meal.
Completely missing the point of a takeaway.
