We can but hope!

What will happen in AZ, PA and GA next?

@Jaichangecentfoisdenom

I thought Trump has taken Georgia now? I am utterly demoralised and think he will win again.
No. Biden is closing in on Trump’s lead in Georgia.
Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 05/11/2020 11:47

@nauticant - so this is because of increased use of social media and different, more widespread means of communication, you think? Anyone can become a pundit on Twitter or FB, I suppose.

Roussette · 05/11/2020 11:49

220,000 votes left to be counted so it's not over yet

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 05/11/2020 11:51

@LarkDescending - is that right? I misunderstood the figures I looked at, I thought they had declared for Trump with 96% of the votes counted.

LarkDescending · 05/11/2020 11:51

Lewis Goodall on Twitter:

There really isn’t a credible path to 270 for the President without Georgia. The best he could hope for if he were to reverse Biden leads in Arizona and Nevada and carry Pennsylvania (looking less and less likely) would be to force a tie.

nauticant · 05/11/2020 11:52

In my view Jaichangecentfoisdenom social media appears to show extreme polarisation because obsessives on the extremes make so much noise and are so aggressive that reasonable voices are drowned out or fade away.

RedToothBrush · 05/11/2020 11:53

Georgia is clocking up 80% to Biden batches in some areas. Earlier in the postal count it was more like 60%.

He needs in the 60s to win the state.

There are enough blue counties to count to put Biden over the line on the number of ballots left to count by the look of it.

Still counting I think! Where did you see a declaration?

This is per Lewis Goodall in the last 45 min:

Georgia has narrowed yet further. Now just 18,540 with more Atlanta votes to come.

Trump carried the state by 200,000 in 2016

nauticant · 05/11/2020 11:55

With the caveat that social media is drowning in dis/misinformation ever worse than normal at the moment, this tweet is a handy illustration of the uncertainties:

mobile.twitter.com/cadamsKXAN/status/1324256150397849605

I wouldn't be surprised that even if it was accurate it's already out of date.

DuncinToffee · 05/11/2020 11:56

Jaichange, I hope it wasn't the picture I posted that caused you to think that, it was meant to show that Trump's lead is narrowing with 96% of the votes counted.

maggiethecat · 05/11/2020 11:57

Please, no fake news with the results - heart can't take it!

Another one here should be doing taxes - really need them to call for Biden soon 🤯

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 05/11/2020 11:57

@LarkDescending - I am rubbish with numbers. I misunderstood what I was reading. I didn't twig that the last 4% of votes to be counted in Georgia could make all the difference. I understand because they are from Atlanta, they should?

LarkDescending · 05/11/2020 11:58

Yes. Fingers crossed!

RedToothBrush · 05/11/2020 11:59

Fulton County, Atlanta.

SabrinaThwaite · 05/11/2020 12:00

Pennsylvania still hasn’t finished / published the Philadelphia count, and that’s expected to close the gap by a six figure number (it’s currently 165,000).

Blueberries0112 · 05/11/2020 12:01

Biden won AZ , according to PBS news hour

TheWorstShed · 05/11/2020 12:02

Another one doing taxes with this time - whilst constantly checking here and several news sites. Hmm, why do I have a massive tension headache?!

Thanks to everyone for the thread and all the insight.

Does anyone know when Georgia might be called?

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 05/11/2020 12:02

@DuncinToffee, no, it's just my own stupidity speaking.
My apologies to everyone for the fake news. I'm thinking now might actually not be the right time to do our taxes, at the rate I'm going. Grin

TheNorthWestPawsage · 05/11/2020 12:08

Thanks for the fread freddo!

Stressing - It’s a good job I went grey in my late twenties. Hmm

worriedauntt · 05/11/2020 12:08

So how long are we thinking for the last 2% of Georgia votes to be counted? Eek!

TheNorthWestPawsage · 05/11/2020 12:10

Tired of the electoral map? Here is a map of the legality of owning a Kangaroo by state.

LethargicLumpOfLockdownLard · 05/11/2020 12:10

Guardian has Georgia as having 100,000 votes to go with trump ahead by only 18,000 so definitely too close to call there.

Horizons83 · 05/11/2020 12:11

This has been my favourite tracker:

edition.cnn.com/election/2020/results/president

You can then zoom in and see each county's vote and the % left to count. It's reassuring that in ALL states it's the urban counties that still have the most votes still to count - counties that (generally) are heavily Biden.

e.g. Philadelphia is 79.4% Biden so far and still has 30% of the votes to count.

LethargicLumpOfLockdownLard · 05/11/2020 12:12

Torture isn't it? I am at work and keep checking between patients (thankfully not a busy day!).

How you should concede as a one term president : twitter.com/darreneuronews/status/1324142362331910144?s=21

I dread to think what Trump will come out with if Biden (hopefully!) wins
