So, Trump was an absolute car crash as expected. We can only hope that the decent Republicans start stepping up and condemning him now their own seats are safe.

In many countries, if in a presidential election no candidate gets more than 50%, we go to a second round.
That would mean libertarian votes would be redistributed. Or voters wouldn't bother.
The second choice option would be good too. "Rank in order of preference, with points" 😁

Asked earlier why Trump was gaining in Arizona and whether postal votes favouring Biden didn’t apply there - not sure if anyone commented but CNN just explained that historically Arizona Reps like to vote by post. So Arizona all to play for it seems.

Glad you got an answer. I saw your question this morning and was going to day that Arizona has a pre-existing history of postal voting across both parties supporters whereas elsewhere the volume of postal voting is new (and driven by Democrats). So what CNN said!

Hope you're right about Republicans... It sounds like a few have started to at least mildly suggest they don't agree with Trump's comments on voting/counting. I guess those with senate/Congress seats are afraid that he might still win (and will then turn on them for speaking out against him - which frankly is an indictment both of his Presidency and their willingness to put country above their own interests).

Unfortunately, even if they do start make condemnation the damage has already been done in terms of the message put out by Trump to his supporters.

Just thought I’d say, as it’s been mentioned a few times, the big difference between what happened in 2000 and now is that in 2000 all the votes had been counted. The Gore campaign requested manual recounts in various counties due to issues with dodgy voting machines. The Bush campaign went to the Supreme Court to stop the recounts which were dragging on. At no point did they try to throw out perfectly legal votes.

The GOP are trying to remould themselves- how cute. The ruse is so obvious, though, it's painful. The only people taken in by it will be the beaten-down MAGA base.

It's a fallacy the Repugs have been selling.
Favour businesses so that people can get jobs. And convincing people that with hard work alone they can be well off.
Forgetting that any of us can need support at any point. But the % of people who do need support is usually low, particularly in the country, where family and friend networks are strong and people can live off their land to some point.

The shit hasn't hit the fence again yet, even with covid. But it will. In terms of health and the economy.

I hope the American worker doesn't get a reality shock.
