To be considering getting a paranormal investigator in.

I’ve never been woo, but there’s things happening that I just can’t explain. Lived here many years, no bumps in the night. But the last few weeks there’s been a few things that make no sense. I had a cupboard open and a huge box just fell from the top shelf all the way out. It’s was fully on the shelf and it just threw itself out and smashed. In front of me. Other things have fallen off shelves which I just thought was usual things falling. Two clocks stopped on the same day. Things have gone missing. I don’t know how it could just throw itself out. Nothing was behind it or anything. I’m a bit spooked. The closest I ever have got to woo is I’ve seen a few episodes of ghost whisperer! There’s a local paranormal investigator that comes out for free. Am I being daft ?

Surely you need to get yourself checked out first. Occam's razor. More likely to be something going on with your mind than ghosties.

Craftycorvid · 04/11/2020 13:35

Not daft, those things sound unnerving, but could be coincidental. Are you near any railway lines or anything that might cause low level vibration sufficient to slowly edge the box off the shelf, for instance?

Mum198000 · 04/11/2020 13:38

I was willing to think it was all just coincidence and nothing until the box fell. My daughter was sitting there too. I didn’t imagine it!

Nothing that vibrates, live in the country. The box has been there literally years. But it’s a plastic kids type box with lid that was all the way back in the cupboard. How did it fall? I just can’t work it out.

Mum198000 · 04/11/2020 13:41

If it was something that had vibrated it out then it did it very quickly as the cupboard had only been open about 10 minutes.

flaviaritt · 04/11/2020 13:42

It would be one bored ghost who threw boxes at you and stopped clocks.

Solina · 04/11/2020 13:42

What was in the box? Could have been something in the box gave way to another item causing there to be weight against the top side of the box so it fell when the door was open.

Mum198000 · 04/11/2020 13:42

It was in a row of plastic boxes all the same in a row too so if it had vibrated then all would have moved. Solid built in cupboard so not from opening the door. I’m confused.

Full of birthday candles from over the years. Nothing that could have shifted.

GeorgiaMcGraw · 04/11/2020 13:44

Could it be an angry mouse trying to get to the cereal and just succeedingvin shoving it off? Clocks could be coincidence. Maybe keep a bit of a log of things going on for a while, gather more data, so to speak.

Mum198000 · 04/11/2020 13:46

I’m hoping for a logical explanation.

No vermin and we have cats but no cat near and anyway there wasn’t room for our fat cats on the shelf.

If you thin it might make yu feel better, go for it.

I don't believe in woo. But I do have a really odd feeling on my landing and going up my stairs, and have done for 10 years now. As if someone is watching me. I can feel it. Only when I am alone though, and only on a night. Its really odd. I figure I was just scared of something one night, and my brain remembers that and repeats when I am in the same situation. Also have a lot of things 'fall' that cannot really be explained. If I did believe in woo, I would be terrified of this house. If I was ever tempted to pay for something like this, I would do it just to check though..so maybe I do believe in a way..

The landing thing is ridiculous sometimes. 4am loo trips often result in me literally running back along the landing and shutting the door quickly, as the feeling disappears once the door is shut Hmm

Mum198000 · 04/11/2020 13:51

The box isn’t small like a plastic box you might use for kids stuff (repurposed storage from when my kids were younger). So at least 30cm by 20cm and far too big just to fall out. It was short side on so 30cm had to fall out.

I really don’t believe in woo. My teen daughter of course does and says she thinks it a ghost. But I’m struggling to work it out. A few things have disappeared too and nobody will admit they moved them.

Mum198000 · 04/11/2020 13:54

I hate feelings like that. I totally get the landing thing. There’s a few places in my local town that give me that feeling so I avoid them.

OP posts:
Mum198000 · 04/11/2020 13:56

If I hadn’t seen it myself I would have not believed it.

Its rats

Mum198000 · 04/11/2020 13:57

Though thankfully I don’t have a haunted birdy friend badge telling me the world is going to end! 🤣

FuriousCheekyFucker · 04/11/2020 13:58

YABU. Ghosts, like other imaginary things, do not exist. Otherwise they would be called real, and not imaginary.

flaviaritt · 04/11/2020 13:58

What disappeared?

Mum198000 · 04/11/2020 14:00

No evidence of rats. The cupboard is in the lounge. I made the bottom half a brexit storage cupboard last jan so food is there but no signs of rats and the cats aren’t interested in getting in. I had the cupboard open to take some of the food out for lockdown. No nibbles or droppings.

I’m hoping for a logical explanation.
You get that from a "paranormal investigator"
draughtycatflap · 04/11/2020 14:01

Zoinks! Call Scooby Doo and the Mystery Gang to get rid of them ghosts.

Mum198000 · 04/11/2020 14:02

Weird things. A box of Colman’s English mustard ffs! Was on the shelf then not. Not something the kids would use. Nobody knows anything about it. I asked. Other equally random things.
