I’ve never been woo, but there’s things happening that I just can’t explain. Lived here many years, no bumps in the night. But the last few weeks there’s been a few things that make no sense. I had a cupboard open and a huge box just fell from the top shelf all the way out. It’s was fully on the shelf and it just threw itself out and smashed. In front of me. Other things have fallen off shelves which I just thought was usual things falling. Two clocks stopped on the same day. Things have gone missing. I don’t know how it could just throw itself out. Nothing was behind it or anything. I’m a bit spooked. The closest I ever have got to woo is I’ve seen a few episodes of ghost whisperer! There’s a local paranormal investigator that comes out for free. Am I being daft ?

You are not being unreasonable. Every Church of England diocese has an exorcist on its staff. Their existence is not publicised. If you ring the diocesan office someone should be able to help. You do not need to be a person of faith for their ministry and ritual to be effective.

What have you been watching? Sometimes watching horror/paranormal programmes attracts negativity and ghosts. I speak from experience

StateOfTheUterus · 06/11/2020 19:32

I think I prefer the idea of a mustard stealing ghost to rats....eugh!

Mum198000 · 26/01/2021 22:50

Update - bought new mustard and it’s still in my cupboard. Absolutely no other incidents. Unless ghosts can airdrop YouTube on my tv 😂.
Someone asked if DD was going through puberty? No she’s doing A levels or trying to anyway. No sign of any ghosts or rodents. And we are here 24/7 so if there had been we would know. Still didn’t find the old mustard and for boredom reasons the kitchen cupboards got emptied and resorted and it didn’t appear. So the mustard disappearance is still a mystery!

Something else on the shelf moved while you were getting stuff out, and dislodged the box slightly, or whatever. Clocks stop. Stuff gets lost.

Lockdown is driving everyone a bit crackers OP. Put it out of your mind.

partyatthepalace · 26/01/2021 23:05

Ha. I didn’t realise this was old. Just popped up. Glad the ghost left (with ir without the mustard)

Mum198000 · 26/01/2021 23:06

I’m sure we all have felt the mental strain of lockdown but I really am intrigued to where my mustard went! Where’s Scooby Do when you need him?

I’d look into subsidence. Sounds like your house is crooked

@thosetalesofunexpected

Hi Op Obviously look into the obvious/not so obvious probilities whatever they could be, quiky, strange out of ordinary, happenings, you have been experiencing quite recently.

Like previous poster said, such if live nearby a railway vibrations shaking house etc etcetc

I have been a member of quite few different spirualist churches/centres.

Contact a local spiritualist church/centre if poss or elswhere one.
Or a local psychic/spiritual Circle.

As a guest visiting spiritualist Church/centre or psychic spiritual circle you would receive a friendly welcome not expected to pay..so you see what it is like if curious..

(They usually have minimum payment at front door of donation only or minimum one off payment of couple of pounds, and can sometimes offer have a raffle prize optional only, of 1pound of nice raffle prizes ,contribution goes to the upkeep of church/centre.

I forget to say you could use native American smudge from hippy stalls/shops to clear negative energy from house relates to feng shui
There is also also other way, things you can use do create a similar effect.
look up in spiritual/psychic mags such as spirit and destiny etc in supermarkets etc.

Or just Google internet an have a look on reputable spiritual/psychic websites too.

Take care
Good luck

^Reputable spiritual/psychic websites’? Are those the ones set up by the deluded rather than the consciously fraudulent?

I didn't believe in this stuff until s few years back and something happened to very much make me believe. Go for it OP
Long story involving sale of my grandmother's house and things happening to the new owner, I think it was my grandmother, she hadn't left the house spiritually. I believe it has calmed down slightly now.

OP I grew up in a very old house and had some similar incidents.

One time when I was about 13, I was lying on my bed reading. On the other side of my bedroom I had one of those massive MFI desks that was solidly rawl plugged into the wall, it had shelves over the desk and shelves all up one side to the left. I had loads of shit on there - ornaments, folders, books etc. Quietly reading away when suddenly BANG - I looked over and literally everything that had moments before been on my shelves was now on the floor.

Also things used to go missing a lot. I’d be using something in my room, put it down then it would vanish. I’d tear my room apart looking for it and finally - and I know this sounds bonkers - I’d ask the ghost to put it back. I’d turn my back or leave the room and often the item would reappear somewhere really obvious. I know this sounds like bullshit, I really wish it was.

Anyway, I’d grown up in that house and just kind of accepted that it wasn’t just my family living there, things used to happen to me every day. Problem was, it was only me that experienced this, except for a couple of times my brother heard someone breathing heavily near him when he was in his bed. He came to me and told me about it, shit scared, and I was like um yeah, welcome to my world, that happens every night.

My parents thought I was full of bollocks though, so it was just something I had to live with. But then they got divorced when I was an adult and my DF had to sell the house, which had been in the family for over 100 years. A celebrity bought it, and a few months later did a radio interview where she mentioned she’d recently bought and was renovating a haunted house in XXXX county. I can’t tell you how chuffed that made me, I was like HA they’ve latched on to you now then.

In the early 1900s my GF’s brother was tragically killed in an accident when he was 8, he lived in the house, and I wonder if it was his ghost that was doing stuff, often it was playful and child-like things that happened.

An aunt of mine who is very religious and doesn’t believe in ghosts had to have her flat cleansed. Several times she would walk into a room and all the furniture was piled up in the middle of the room, but piled up in ways that didn’t make any sense. Things would also move on their own too. The person who came in managed to appease whatever was in there thankfully.
