To be considering getting a paranormal investigator in.

I’ve never been woo, but there’s things happening that I just can’t explain. Lived here many years, no bumps in the night. But the last few weeks there’s been a few things that make no sense. I had a cupboard open and a huge box just fell from the top shelf all the way out. It’s was fully on the shelf and it just threw itself out and smashed. In front of me. Other things have fallen off shelves which I just thought was usual things falling. Two clocks stopped on the same day. Things have gone missing. I don’t know how it could just throw itself out. Nothing was behind it or anything. I’m a bit spooked. The closest I ever have got to woo is I’ve seen a few episodes of ghost whisperer! There’s a local paranormal investigator that comes out for free. Am I being daft ?

Well, if you want to invite charlatans into your life this is a surefire way.

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 04/11/2020 14:18

Someone pulled out the box for a look. Shoved it back in quickly (part way) and closed the door to shove it back into the shelf. It didn’t go back far enough so when the door was opened it tipped our.

If I was a ghostie I’d find something far more interesting to do.

@Mum198000

I bet the second I buy a new one it will turn up!
Yup thats usually how it goes.

It won't just turn up though, it will be right in the centre of the cupboard, posing and if you look at it just right, you can almost imagine a smirk on its label somewhere.

@Iamthewombat

My teen daughter is very into woo and it was her that saw the paranormal investigator on fb and suggested it

Is it possible that your teenage daughter is a bit bored and fancies some excitement, including telling her mates that your house is so haunted that you needed to call in the paranormal investigators? So much so that she might have hidden the flipping mustard?

I was just thinking this.... fishing wire on the box perhaps? Sounds like she's having you on 😬

@Fluffybutter

We used to have a weird thing happen . For years on and off we kept finding blue wet dots on our dinner plates when we’d get them out of the cupboard,,very similar to blue food colouring which we didn’t have. Never did work it out as we always checked our hands and the insides of the cupboard and nothing .. just the liquid dots on the plates . Just one of those weird mysteries of life ! Anyway , I’d be abit sceptical of any “paranormal” investigator as I just assume they’re all charlatans.
We had that - there was a pipe in the cupboard that was half metric and half imperial so the join was a gnats too small. We had weird bluey drips too from the pipe.

Lol at the spooky mustard.not just me then! 😂

@emilyfrost

YABU. Ghosts don’t exist. You won’t get a logical explanation from a “paranormal investigator” because they’re con artists; they take your money and make shit up.
Paranormal investigators don't charge anything ever, they do it as a hobby and out of their own time. Not con artists at all! I've seen a few ghosts and been pushed by a spirit before and I didn't even believe in them! Don't be so brash
flaviaritt · 04/11/2020 14:21

Don’t forget we have small earthquakes here.

Andante57 · 04/11/2020 14:22

It sounds like a poltergeist.

Mum198000 · 04/11/2020 14:24

I was in the room and seen it and wasthe one to pick it up and see there wasn’t anything there to have caused it. She didn’t move off the sofa the whole time and no wire attached. I think I’m going to just chalk it up to a weird thing and go buy more mustard before lockdown!

Was the pipe copper - copper turns blue when corroded.

justanotherneighinparadise · 04/11/2020 14:24

The problem with these woo occupations is they rely on everyone believing and there’s no actual science behind. Just a person wandering your house with dousing rods muttering under their breath or burning some sage and muttering under their breath. Then they’d want payment! Not likely.

Mum198000 · 04/11/2020 14:26

The only other thing that happened a long time ago was a Batman sock appeared in the washing! Random as anything!

Ah ! You may have both solved a life long mystery. Thanks !

I am not a woo person at all and have had some strange happenings in my house. It is 500 years old. I have had glasses throwing themselves out of a cupboard (a bit like your box) and also a glass candlestick shattering into smithereens.. however, I don't believe in ghosts and assume there has to be an explanation for it as my house has always felt very friendly, cosy and welcoming.

Mum198000 · 04/11/2020 14:29

I haven’t even been to a medium ( well more of a extra large going by the pictures) that my daughter and her friends went to. I scoffed at the whole idea.

Anyone you have lost to the spirit world? Birthday anniversary?

Mum198000 · 04/11/2020 14:30

My house doesn’t have any cold spots are anything and feels nice and cosy. Been here years too.

Mum198000 · 04/11/2020 14:32

A few anniversaries of deaths in October but can’t think if it was on those days , clocks stopped on Saturday though but we did replace them on the same day previously so I guess that’s the reason for that. And cheap arteries from b and m!

Trekkerbabe · 04/11/2020 14:32

A friend of my mums has had a poltergeist in her house for years. It's a child who regularly hides things and plays tricks. She talks to it and tells it off and she has seen it many times. It hides her shoes and various things to annoy her but isnt a sinister presence. Sounds similar...

Mum198000 · 04/11/2020 14:32

Arteries? Ffs autocorrect batteries!

SarahBellam · 04/11/2020 14:35

Are you sure you just don’t have rats? They can squeeze behind things and push them about. They can even pick up something with their mouths and drop them elsewhere.

Mum198000 · 04/11/2020 14:35

I think I’ll just forget the whole thing and chalk it up to one of those things.
