Travellers foodbank challenge.

Posting for traffic and suggestions.

We have started the fb challenge again this year as it's needed more than ever.
We challenge family members to buy an extra weeks worth of food and donate to food banks. Nobody is left out, we all have to rise to the challenge and want to, tbh.

I have posted on dozens of pages asking to remember to include san pro.
If anyone has suggestions that might be forgotten, I'd appreciate the heads up. Also, just to let the people in supermarkets and food banks aware, as this is usually done on such a big scale.

So far I have family in Leicester and Cheshire signing up. But will post other areas as I become aware.
Any suggestions will be very helpful.
Tia.

Bloody hell, an extra week’s worth is a huge ask and beyond most of us. Your family must be minted.
I’ll just continue with my £5 a week challenge.

AlwaysCheddar · 30/10/2020 11:45

What’s the travellers bit?
And an extra weeks worth of four shipping - are you having a laugh?!

BigSandyBalls2015 · 30/10/2020 11:46

a week's worth!! blimey Shock, maybe the odd tin or package here and there.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 30/10/2020 11:47

yeah what have travellers got to do with it, I'm confused!

AriettyHomily · 30/10/2020 11:47

A weeks worth is crazy.

RunBackwards · 30/10/2020 11:49

Travellers?

You are running a campaign that you believe might impact on supermarkets and food banks to the extent they need to know in advance? Is that even responsible?

We're doing the reverse advent calendar.

keepgoingorstop · 30/10/2020 11:49

That's a very big ask!

MrsBungle · 30/10/2020 11:49

Crikey! A week’s worth?! Think I’ll continue with adding a few extra bits to my shopping.

Devilesko · 30/10/2020 11:49

We are travellers and huge families.

Are you acusing the OP of encouraging people to support foodbanks so that they can fraudulently use them? Nice.

WitchFindersAreEverywhere · 30/10/2020 11:53

@Devilesko

We are travellers and huge families.
So you are wealthy enough to buy a week’s groceries for your huge family, and the same again for the food bank? Most of us are not.
BiggerBoat1 · 30/10/2020 11:54

What are you even on about? Who can afford an extra week's shopping? And what has this got to do with travellers?

midgebabe · 30/10/2020 11:54

Op should not have mentioned travellers, clearly some people can't see past that word

Many communities however do encourage their members to support charities to a significant percent of their income.

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 30/10/2020 11:54

I like our local Morrisons option, a trolley full of prebagged up food at the entrance with the price on it anywhere from £2-£10, you pick a bag up at the door, pay for it with your normal shopping and put it in the food bank trolley at the other end. Works brilliantly.

BoreOfWhabylon · 30/10/2020 11:55

FFS, a simple google would inform you all of the Travellers Foodbank challenge

www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/midlands-news/incredible-travellers-foodbank-challenge-going-15501407

Travellers are challenging EACH OTHER to donate a week's shopping to local foodbanks.

Well done, @Devilesko, Flowers

As well as sanpro, I'd include basic toiletries: toothpaste/brushes, deodorant, shampoo, shower gel etc.

GroundAlmonds · 30/10/2020 11:56

Could you just explain what you mean in a bit more detail OP?

Otherwise you’re going to keep getting confused, snitty, or downright racist responses.

People are misunderstanding the op I think. Travellers are donating a weeks worth of shopping to food banks - op wants suggestions of useful items that people may not think about like San Pro.

WitchFindersAreEverywhere · 30/10/2020 11:56

It’s a food bank challenge, set up by a traveller to support the wider community. It started in December 2018, in Wales.

Perhaps you could explain your post please?
I have no idea what you are on about.
