Posting for traffic and suggestions.

We have started the fb challenge again this year as it's needed more than ever.
We challenge family members to buy an extra weeks worth of food and donate to food banks. Nobody is left out, we all have to rise to the challenge and want to, tbh.

I have posted on dozens of pages asking to remember to include san pro.
If anyone has suggestions that might be forgotten, I'd appreciate the heads up. Also, just to let the people in supermarkets and food banks aware, as this is usually done on such a big scale.

So far I have family in Leicester and Cheshire signing up. But will post other areas as I become aware.
Any suggestions will be very helpful.
Tia.

I don’t know many who could afford to donate a whole week of shopping but it’s very generous of all those who take part. I remember the photos from last years one

Just kidding, couldn't resist. Grin
I thought Pinkyyy might have shown her face on this one, I didn't see her on the gypsiologist thread either.
You don't know if she got banned do you?

Thank you for your generosity and kindness.

Please don't listen to people begrudging - I know you won't.

Let them follow their own path.

Put some herbs and spices in,things like paprika, chilli powder, garlic salt etc can really make a meal. Aldi seem to sell these at the cheapest prices. I think they're 50p

I don't understand all the bewildered posters either, your post was very clear. Some people need to stop trying so hard to be deliberately thick on their quest to seek outrage in the tiniest thing...... It will bite them on the arse one day.

Now i know what it is, I think it's a really lovely idea, OP. Good for you and the traveller community who get so much stick, especially on MN.

As for ideas - how about kitchen towel? Anyone with young kids is going to be grateful for it, as it also lessens the amount of laundry you have to do. Food wise, I don't know if peanut butter is allowed because of allergies, but i find it one of the most useful things for filling up hungry kids. Things like chutneys, pickles and savoury biscuits etc really help to make it feel like Christmas imo.

This is a lovely idea, why are people being so shitty about it?! Crikey.

Sanpro is a good idea, how about nappies, wipes, etc? Also more "luxury" items like moisturiser, make up, tights, advent calendars.

This link helps you find out what your local foodbank needs urgently and what they already have good stocks of.

As an example the foodbank I volunteer at has loads of advent calendars but is short of tinned meat and fish. Each foodbank has different needs and it’s best to check.

Parker231 · 06/11/2020 17:40

As an example I picked a random town and this is what they need and have enough of (the lists are frequently updated and storage space is limited).

URGENTLY NEEDED FOOD ITEMS

FRUIT JUICE (LONG LIFE)
TINNED VEGETARIAN MEALS EG MACARONI CHEESE/VEG CHILLI
RICE PUDDING/CUSTARD

TOILET ROLL
ALL TOILETRIES

WE'VE GOT PLENTY OF
