During the first lockdown I complied to the dot. My business collapsed after working and sacrificing so much to build it. It was only last Christmas I started receiving the rewards of hardwork and sacrifice which collapsed after the first lockdown in the summer as there were no tourists. I have a family to take care of. The virus has mutated and believe me I read a lot from epidemiologists, microbiologists and scientists around the world. The virus is no longer deadly. We must learn to live it. The Covid Marshall's here on mumsnet have either underlying health conditions or are financially comfortable - which are people who are genuinely out of touch of the real world just like our politicians.

A lot of businesses are going to take a another massive hit with these lockdowns which will be deadly this time and no coming back! We were already on a fragile road due to brexit and now these regional lockdowns are going to cause a much deadlier impact than Covid it self. Watch this space when you start hearing news of rising suicide cases because of people losing their jobs and businesses, news of people dying because of cancer and other illnesses that can't access treatments due to prioritising Covid. The other day when London was put on tier 2, there were 81 intensive care cases but 93 NHS hospitals in London. This just sums it all up really!

I have long Covid, I’m a shadow of the person I was pre Covid (and that wasn’t all that great as I had CFS and PTSD). I’m also sick of all this, as I can also see how it’s impacted my (adopted) DDs of 11 and 8, and I feel awful about the way their lives have been impacted.

But I don’t want more people (some of whom are young, fit and with no underlying health issues) to go down with long Covid, I wouldn’t wish this on anyone.

I also don’t want elderly people in hospitals and nursing homes to die without family members being able to visit.

ImMoana · 21/10/2020 12:48

I want to say fuck the rules because despite sticking to every single one someone in my household has tested positive.

We’ve wfh, kept our distance, only socialised outside, avoided busy places, not eaten out, wore masks. We’ve done everything.

The rules quite clearly don’t work. Time to accept we are all going to get it at some stage and open society back up.

OneofPansPeople · 21/10/2020 12:48

@ReggieCat

OP - I hope you do catch it. I hope you're as ill as my friend was. I hope you feel the terror I felt when he rang me on his way to hospital to day goodbye in case he never got another chance.

He survived but has 'long covid' and is now showing signs of renal failure after never having a problem before. He's probably going to die.

You have no idea how much I detest you and other selfish twats like you. But then you're so selfish you won't care, will you?

Really,? What kind of person wishes that on someone. Shame on you.
TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 21/10/2020 12:52

‘The virus has mutated and believe me I read a lot from epidemiologists, microbiologists and scientists around the world. The virus is no longer deadly.’🤔

Hmmm not what I’ve read. Could you maybe link to these?

OnceUponAnEnzyme · 21/10/2020 12:57

I'll keep following the rules - as I have done since March. But, as I have done since March, I will continue to feel sick of the easy way a government has limited rights and people have accepted it. I don't know the answer there but I do know that there is nothing trustworthy about the current government.

I will also never forgive the Tory party for their criminality, lack of morality and lack of competence at achieving anything but lining their own pockets.

No I don't accept that we are all going to get it because that is not necessary and if the government was capable no one would be even suggesting it

You mean like they are now?

Surprisingly, I do care. I wish your friend all the best. You too.

Yes, i know it's happening now. I mean that I don't want that to continue to happen and to even more people than now. That's why I'm prepared to stick to the rules.

Littleposh · 21/10/2020 13:03

Ooh you're hard op

Meadow1203 · 21/10/2020 13:04

OP I am with you. I also have lost my business have not seen my sons for 8 months as I am unable to travel to the UK. We are being fed a pack of lies and can't believe people of lapping it up. This Virus is a threat to old and people with underlying health condition. These people need help and support. EVERBODY read the Barrington Declaration, this makes total sense, they are not nut jobs but highly respected scientists

yawnsvillex · 21/10/2020 13:05

@NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace I'm with you.

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 21/10/2020 13:05

Actually looking back at OP's responses, are we sure they aren't a troll?

Definitely not. Just someone struggling with life. If you suspect that I'm a troll, then please report and let MNHQ sort it.

I am usually as it happens. But life has softened me over the past few months.

As someone likely to be in tier 3 soon and having been on local lockdown since late July, I definitely get that you’re fed up, aren’t we all?!
But if you catch this, or give it to loved ones who suffer, you’ll be sorrier than the government.

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 21/10/2020 13:11

True. But that wouldn't be hard, would it? The government are sorry for nothing.

Tou don't have to worry about endangering other people. Just hang a sign around your neck saying "I'm a selfish idiot" and people will know to steer clear of you.

I expect people who know you won't need the sign will they.

Sounds like a plan. You make the sign; I'll wear it.

@Stripyhoglets1

Millievanilli you can do a sleepover in tier 1 as long as it doesn't take you over 6 people in the house.
Yeah that's the problem DDs group is her plus 4 as is DS', there's already 4 of us at home, and neither wants to drop friends so they decided not to bother.
preggersteach · 21/10/2020 13:18

How do you know you don't have it and can't pass it on? Lots of people asymptomatic. I get the frustration and upset I really do but that view is just selfish

I feel for you with your business I had worked bloody hard setting mine up, I started off working for free to just get the word round and doing charity stuff as it led to paid stuff. After 2 years of constant building, and with a full diary, literally was turning people away, bang, covid hits and gone. All gone. DH has had to go back to doing stuff he hadn't done in years to help us get by but I'm gutted right now as it was something I loved doing and was good at and that's what I think anyone strives for in a job.
ColleagueFromMars · 21/10/2020 13:20

I hear your anger and frustration with our lousy shitshow of a government. I really do.

I hope you have and you get the support you need for your mental health xxx

REDLIPSTICKANDNAILS · 21/10/2020 13:23

You need to do what is best for you OP. You need to look after your mental health and well being. I admire you for speaking out as a lot of people feel the same but don't admit it for fear of abuse.

SummerHouse · 21/10/2020 13:25

I am with you op. Flouters gotta flout. I stuck to the rulz untill it was to the detriment of my mum's mental health. Then I quietly, discreetly and slightly broke them. BrewWineBrewCake I hear you.
