.... you can stick your fucking Tier 3 up your arse. Sideways.

If I can flout it, then I fucking well will!

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 21/10/2020 11:43

You’re getting stick for rule flouting because you announced your intention to flout them in your opening post!

I did. And I might. But up to now, I haven't. I don't care about the stick I'm getting. I'm resilient enough to deal with that: it's nowt. It's the world shutting down that I'm having trouble with.

"I can't spread a fucking virus that I haven't got".

And this is partly why we are in the mess we are in.

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 21/10/2020 11:45

But no. Me me me.

Haven't seen my parents in months. They live 12 miles away. At the risk of repeating myself, I've followed the rules. So .... 'me, me me'? Nope.

hellswelshy · 21/10/2020 11:57

I hear you op. I'm in Wales and we are facing another proper lockdown from Friday, it's so depressing. I wouldn't have minded so much if he had imposed this a few weeks ago when cases started rising but instead we have had 2-3 weeks of local lockdown which didn't seem to help, now another 17 days. Stay strong, nothing wrong with feeling anger about this. Look after yourself Flowers

MoonJelly · 21/10/2020 11:59

I'm not sure how you feel that flouting the rules is sticking it to the government. If you or yours catch Covid, you will suffer a hell of a lot more than Johnson will.

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 21/10/2020 11:59

And this is partly why we are in the mess we are in.

Oh, catch yourself on. We're in this mess because we have incompetent leaders with no cohesive strategy: not because I'm having a mild meltdown

@NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace

I can't spread a fucking virus that I haven't got.
How do you know that you haven't got it?
DilemmaDerby · 21/10/2020 12:01

Yeah me neither, I drop my kids off at school every morning it TIER 1!!

But we’re lumped in with a city 40 minutes away to tier 3.

Fuck them.

Baaaahhhhh · 21/10/2020 12:01

They have failed to implement a working test trace and isolate system which means cases keep rising and lockdowns follow

I don't disagree, I have always favoured a local approach, my Dad was an old fashioned Health Inspector, and he would be incensed by what is, or more importantly, isn't going on now. However, OP, if people are contacted and asked to isolate, and then only 10% of them do, and like you, say Fuck Off, I',m doing as I please, what the hell do you think is going to result??

Coolieloach · 21/10/2020 12:02

I feel sorry for you

ReggieCat · 21/10/2020 12:03

OP - I hope you do catch it. I hope you're as ill as my friend was. I hope you feel the terror I felt when he rang me on his way to hospital to day goodbye in case he never got another chance.

He survived but has 'long covid' and is now showing signs of renal failure after never having a problem before. He's probably going to die.

You have no idea how much I detest you and other selfish twats like you. But then you're so selfish you won't care, will you?

Sarahsah4r4 · 21/10/2020 12:03

I think turning point might come when we develop a very fast and very cheap saliva test, that could make it much easier to contain the virus and reduce the need to quarantine

Baaaahhhhh · 21/10/2020 12:03

Actually looking back at OP's responses, are we sure they aren't a troll?

Requinblanc · 21/10/2020 12:05

Are the rules working? do they make sense? are you a sheep who just follows blindly what you are being told?

I am following the basics (home working, handwashing, mask wearing) but I will no longer 'obey' any lockdown beyond those basics.

This government does not have a clue. They are simply pushing the same restrictions that have failed to work, which to me is the definition of madness.

We need to question why they are failing to put a proper testing/track and trace in place, are giving contracts to their mates and allowing their advisers/families to break the rules while failing to put in place financial safeguards for the majority of people.

That's not being a 'covidiot' is it simply a question of being sick of being taken for a fool.

Lockdowns don't work. I really don't see how anyone can still believe this is the way to go...

People in places like Japan and Sweden are being treated like adults. We are not.

Sarahsah4r4 · 21/10/2020 12:06

Personally I'm not badly affected I already wfh, I love solitude and welcome the excuse not to see relatives, my hobbies are running cycling and going to the gym and all of these are allowed.

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 21/10/2020 12:07

It depends how you use the term ‘work’

They work in mitigating the numbers, taking the pressure off hospitals and reducing overall cases. This is what they are designed for. So they do work how they are supposed to.

They don’t eradicate the virus but they aren’t supposed to ‘work’ like that.

bloodywhitecat · 21/10/2020 12:08

DP is waiting for surgery on Monday, without this surgery he'll be dead by next summer my biggest fear at the moment is that people carry on flouting the restrictions and his surgery is cancelled. He literally has one chance. He is truly faced with death and he doesn't want to die.

acatcalledjohn · 21/10/2020 12:08

People in places like Japan and Sweden are being treated like adults. We are not.

When the 6 person limit was announced the north in particular went: "last weekend of partying!" and en masse headed to clubs, pubs and parties.

And people wonder why we aren't being treated like adults.

IAintentDead · 21/10/2020 12:13

@emilyfrost

I’m so embarrassed for you. You can cope, you’re just pretending you can’t because you don’t want to follow the rules because you’re entitled and selfish.

The government isn’t the issue, it’s people like you that are prolonging these restrictions.

What a thoughtful response to someone obviously struggling. It's people like you that make this shitty situation harder to cope with.
TiersTiersTiers · 21/10/2020 12:18

@ReggieCat

I am so sorry to hear about your friend. I hope that things improve for him it is a bloody awful situation for him. Take care of yourself too. It's awful and I share your frustration at people who won't/can't be bothered to consider others. Flowers for you

MillieVanilla · 21/10/2020 12:19

Look I'm not saying the OP is right or wrong.
But I doubt very much they aren't voicing what many of us feel
I don't think anyone is saying anyone elses situation is worse than each others. And Mental health arguments do not need to have a platform here, I think even if you didn't have MH issues before this it is impossible to not feel trapped, hopeless and depressed.
No I don't believe Corbyn would be indecisive at all, he never had the chance to show what he could do because people were blinded by Brexit. Starmer is not my choice he is a yes man he has not taken the government to task at all and many of us Labour socialists are livid with his wooden performance at PMQs and the fact he has failed to condemn Boris.

I'm in a Tier 1 area, for now, but two neighbouring regions are set to join 2, even 3, and many who live in those areas work in my area. We are also a uni town so whereas up until the end of August we had 3 new cases a week and no deaths for several months, that has rapidly changed since school and uni cracked on, which was inevitable.

I've lost my business this year. We are struggling to get by. We've been nowhere and seen practically no one, including family. We followed the rules to the letter. We hoped if we did this would be done by now, in fact I was so sure it would be that I promised the DCs to make up for missing out on milestone birthday (DD) and because he finally had a great group of mates (DS) we would have a Halloween sleep over instead. Now we can't and they're old enough to get why but it's still a disappointment.
I don't blame the OP or anyone for feeling like they do. I'm halfway to it myself.

Stripyhoglets1 · 21/10/2020 12:21

I feel for you OP. I'm not in tier 3 yet (but close to areas that are) and probably will stick to the rules because I can and am just about mentally strong enough to do so.
I don't blame anyone who isn't able to now though. As long as they aren't attending superdpreader events and denying the virus exists then so what if someone has a freind round.
I blame the government and am quite impressed by how effectively they've got us blaming each other rather than them - but that is the Tory way!

Stripyhoglets1 · 21/10/2020 12:23

Millievanilli you can do a sleepover in tier 1 as long as it doesn't take you over 6 people in the house.

JudyGemstone · 21/10/2020 12:31

@NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace

so op, whats going to be your first act of 'rebellion' then? what are you going to do thats against the rules and guidelines?

I'd quite like to get some of my young, pretty men friends around - if that's alright with you Smile

Can I come over too please? Wink
TheDuchessofMalfy · 21/10/2020 12:38

To be honest, posting on here has been strangely cathartic. Maybe it was all that was needed.

^^
Sometimes that is all you need and it can be good to vent. I mentioned counselling because it has helped me cope (single mum, work full time, shitting ex - not unusual but we all have our reasons why counselling is helpful!).
