.... you can stick your fucking Tier 3 up your arse. Sideways.

If I can flout it, then I fucking well will!

Get what a ridiculous thing to say about Swedish people, Compliant they are not. We were never given the opportunity to "behave sensibly"

Oh I'm sorry are we in for a drip feed?

Please don't apologise. And no, we're not.

Perhaps we need s bit more authoritarianism here.

Please tell me that's tongue in cheek .....

I hear you, OP. I'm in Tier 2 and I'm flouting. Having friends for dinner, going to friends houses. I was a dutiful citizen in April-June and followed the rules when we didn't know much about COVID. It has since become apparent that less than 400 people in England have died from covid under 60 with no health conditions. I'll take my chances.
I bet they won't be attributing the missed cancer diagnoses, the rising heart disease numbers, the increase in mental health problems and suicide to lock down. The probably won't attribute bankrupting the country to lockdown either.

GetOffYourHighHorse · 21/10/2020 14:25

'Stop making stupid generalisations.'

Well perhaps you should tell Anders Tegnell Sweden's chief epidemiologist to stop making 'stupid generalisations' too

A quote from the article 'We began by discussing Sweden’s response in March – why did it diverge so strongly from its peers? “I want to make it clear, no, we did not lock down like many other countries, but we definitely had a virtual lockdown,” Tegnell said. “Swedes changed their behaviour enormously. We stopped travelling even more than our neighbouring countries. The airports had no flights anywhere, the trains were running at a few per cent of normal service, so there were enormous changes in society.”

'I'm flouting. Having friends for dinner, going to friends houses'

Jesus. 🙄🙄

You can survive without having pals round for dinner you know. It is only temporary, then we can all resume.

I worry so much for my parents with entitled arseholes seemingly all over the place.

Kokosrieksts · 21/10/2020 14:31

@NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace
I also have no patience left for “we are In the middle of a global pandemic” and “it’s those selfish idiots floating the rules that make it worse” opinions. My answer now is very brief - shut up :D

As to the situation itself, yes there is a virus, but it’s so blown out of proportion, I’m very worried about all the consequences years after this.

If somebody wants to come visit my house in tier 3, my door will be open.

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 21/10/2020 14:32

And have you got anything to add on the missed cancer diagnoses, the heart disease and the rise in mental health issues?

Namechange313 · 21/10/2020 14:39

I’m with you OP, lives have been wrecked, jobs lost, missed diagnoses, being isolated from friends and family, the list goes on and it is not worth it in the slightest for a virus that kills less that 1% of the people it infects! I cannot understand people’s willingness to sleepwalk into such control. We don’t do this for the flu which has a higher mortality rate, this isn’t about covid anymore but I’m afraid if you share that view OP then you’ll just be attacked on here

GetOffYourHighHorse · 21/10/2020 14:45

'And have you got anything to add on the missed cancer diagnoses, the heart disease and the rise in mental health issues'?'

Well yes! The nhs is open, any chest pain, bleeding, lumps etc then guess what.. ring your gp, 111 or go to A&E!

The rise in mental health issues is of course regrettable sadly in a pandemic it's going to happen. I'm not quite sure what you would suggest to reduce the rate of transmission?

You and others crack on though and flout rules, then blame Government when we're all stuck with restrictions longer. Great plan.

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 21/10/2020 14:55

Give her a break. She's doing what she needs to get through, rather than blindly following rules which, quite frankly, seem to be erratic and usless.

The above isn't true. The quote below is taken from the WHO website.

"Mortality for COVID-19 appears higher than for influenza, especially seasonal influenza. While the true mortality of COVID-19 will take some time to fully understand, the data we have so far indicate that the crude mortality ratio (the number of reported deaths divided by the reported cases) is between 3-4%, the infection mortality rate (the number of reported deaths divided by the number of infections) will be lower. For seasonal influenza, mortality is usually well below 0.1%. However, mortality is to a large extent determined by access to and quality of health care. "

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 21/10/2020 15:07

We don’t do this for the flu which has a higher mortality rate

Do you really think if this was true the world would be trying to stop the spread of Covid? Like the entire globe ( except for Trump) how can you spout such shite?

Scarlettpixie · 21/10/2020 15:08

OP I get you are fed up but if people flout the rules this will just prolong the agony so please don't. I agree that the gov have made a complete hash of things but we cannot control what they do, only what we do as individuals and I am in the cautious camp. I think the current restrictions don't go far enough. They are not even closing pubs in tier 3 if they sell food! Seem like a half hearted approach to me. I am sure more will be needed to get the numbers down. While the tiers were supposed to simplify things, it is just as confusing as before as different areas - even within the same tier - have different rules.

What in particular are you struggling with? Why haven't you seen your parents for months? Even in restricted areas were you not able to see them outdoor while the weather was good?

Meadow1203 · 21/10/2020 15:09

Scarlett read what you have written "appears" You are being brain washed. Start reading real facts.

TabbyStar · 21/10/2020 16:14

Oh, catch yourself on. We're in this mess because we have incompetent leaders with no cohesive strategy: not because I'm having a mild meltdown

No OP, the entire pandemic is clearly your fault Grin

Sorry you're having a hard time with it all, I agree that the whole thing has been appallingly managed and many of the rules are illogical. Your answers though have made me laugh, so you're clearly not quite beaten yet Thanks

We stopped travelling even more than our neighbouring countries. The airports had no flights anywhere, the trains were running at a few per cent of normal service, so there were enormous changes in society.”

So why didn’t we stop flights and train services? That’s not people being compliant.
GetOffYourHighHorse · 21/10/2020 16:22

'The rise in mental health issues is of course regrettable sadly in a pandemic it's going to happen. I'm not quite sure what you would suggest to reduce the rate of transmission?'

'I have no idea. I'm asking you!'

Oh well I would suggest people comply with restrictions to get rates down. It's not great, no one is suggesting it is but being hooked up to a ventilator in an overwhelmed icu isn't a barrel of laughs either. So flouters, dig deep and postpone the dinner parties and coffee mornings for now. Our older and vulnerable people are worth it.

WokesFromHome · 21/10/2020 16:40

OP
Even if you flout the rules your life isn't going to change much as Covid is here for a while. I think you need to get off the news and SM and look after yourself for a few weeks and take a break. Take some time for a mental break from it all.

This week has been a major stress fest and sparks are flying all round.

Other posters, this poster is having a moment. A bit of support please.

MillieVanilla · 21/10/2020 16:42
@MillieVanilla thank you for your comment and understanding and I hope you're doing well. I pray for you and thousands of others who are in this situation and I genuinely wish you and all the others on the same boat have new and better opportunities on the horizon. I hope our government comes to its senses and accepts that this virus is here to stay and lockdowns don't help. Isolating people (tourists) for 2 weeks doesn't help our fragile economy. Believe it or not, we need our tourists, we need our foreign students and we need our international business people and their investments. Herd immunity is the only way. Wishing you the best of all luck and all the best 🌸🌺
And you too Flowers
I grew up in a touristy area and remember how much we needed them to get by. I'm now in a uni town and know the students are great for the economy, not just for the obvious stuff but even our charity shop lady said the students going home early and under lockdown meant they didn't get the huge amount of really nice, barely used donations they normally do each year and it's hit them hard too.
It's little things like that that people aren't aware of. Even charities are making people redundant. Our school has said they will struggle because of fundraising stuff they can't do this year.
It's mind boggling, and lockdowns I still maintain are just prolonging the inevitable. Even Spain that was militant is seeing increases once again.
