To quite enjoy wearing a mask sometimes

So I can chunter a bit under my breath and no-one can see Grin Also I am extremely self conscious about my teeth so I can stop worrying about them when I have a mask on and can smile with crinkly eyes instead. Does anyone else have any mask wearing benefits, aside from the obvious?

Hides my upper lip hair.
Makes everyone look like a kick ass, yeah!

dementedpixie · 16/10/2020 15:54

You can eat smelly foods and noone can smell your stinky breath

AvoidingRealHumans · 16/10/2020 15:54

A colleague was walking towards me going on and on about something today and I was able to freely mutter not very nice things about her as she couldn't see my mouth.

DollyMixtureLulus · 16/10/2020 15:57

I always have a very cold nose, I’m enjoying wearing one outdoors Blush

kingdomcapers · 16/10/2020 15:59

I wore mine all around the wildlife park we just visited because people couldn't see my cats bum judgy face at some of the tossers that can't follow a simple one way system. It was also really cosy.

JonasKahnwald · 16/10/2020 15:59

I love wearing my mask, hides my jowls Wink

tectonicplates · 16/10/2020 16:00

Yeah it keeps my face a bit warmer.

lifestooshort123 · 16/10/2020 16:00

Hides my resting bitch face (mainly cos it's getting to be old), haven't worn lipstick for months, don't have to grin inanely at people I don't know (nor want to know). I actually feel quite serene with it on.

Botherfreedays · 16/10/2020 16:00

I poked my tongue out at someone behind mine the other day. (Childish and rude but justified surely if a man is mansplaining something to me?)Grin

JimmyJabs · 16/10/2020 16:01

I'm prone to chin acne, and now I don't have to faff around with concealer and foundation to make them less red and angry-looking. Just whack a mask on, and for all anyone knows, I have the skin of a model.

But you can smell it yourself unfortunately! Looking at you McCoys Cheese & Onion crisps.
Thurmanmurman · 16/10/2020 16:03

@kingdomcapers. Cats bum judgy face! I couldn't have put it better, that's the only enjoyable part of wearing one. When we no longer have to I'll probably forget that I'm not wearing one and get smacked in the mouth for pulling faces at people in TescoGrin

Savbruins · 16/10/2020 16:11

I love it! Pcos and haven't been having to deal with the hairs everytime I go out also have Asperger's and having the safety of being behind a mask type thing has really helped my mental health and I feel more confident!

QueenBlueberries · 16/10/2020 16:13

I speak to myself a lot. With mask on, people can't see me doing it so they don't think I'm mad.

TimeStoleMyYouth · 16/10/2020 16:14

I’m not wearing lipstick when I go out, not worrying about stray chin hairs and can relax my facial muscles as much as I want without worrying about looking miserable.

yearinyearout · 16/10/2020 16:14

It hides my resting bitch face quite well!

Mackie2020 · 16/10/2020 16:16

I've just spent some time in hospital & I felt much more private & anonymous being wheeled to the ward wearing my mask. Would have felt very exposed and vulnerable without it I think.

Pizzaistheanswer · 16/10/2020 16:17

The cold air sort of burns my lungs, so I always wear a cotton buff when walking, running or cycling in the cold - no need now!

Also, my latest pair of glasses keep slackening off and I use the mask hooks to stop them shooting off without warning.

I have sensory issues and I actually like material over my face - I often pull the collar of my clothes over my mouth anyway.

TicTacTwo · 16/10/2020 16:18

I could lip sync to the music playing in Morrison's and nobody was the wiser 👍🏻

EmeraldShamrock · 16/10/2020 16:18

Me too, especially with my hood up. I feel invisible. Grin
Last winter I starting using a scarf as a mask nothing to do with covid, I think it is healthier my usual winter cough didn't start the amount of smog and car fumes walking at night was rancid.

Yorkshiremummyof1 · 16/10/2020 16:27

I realised I looked like a total idiot lip syncing behind my mask, I just looked like I was burning under the mask
Kaiserin · 16/10/2020 16:28

Keeps my face warm and hides my wrinkles!

Orangeblossom7777 · 16/10/2020 16:29

I don't like wearing it however it means can avoid talking to people you don't like in the supermarket, such as neighbours. You can hide a bit.

VeggieSausageRoll · 16/10/2020 16:32

Definitely hides the moustache

ShinyPie · 16/10/2020 16:33

It feels like people are nicer to me when I wear mine.

I also don't have to worry about the chin hairs I've failed to pluck. Blush
