To quite enjoy wearing a mask sometimes

So I can chunter a bit under my breath and no-one can see Grin Also I am extremely self conscious about my teeth so I can stop worrying about them when I have a mask on and can smile with crinkly eyes instead. Does anyone else have any mask wearing benefits, aside from the obvious?

I quite like mine too. I really want a halloween one with fangs.

purrswhileheeats · 16/10/2020 16:37

We had a really awful customer in the shop today, he's notorious for being a CF. My colleagues and I were all silently giggling underneath our masks and rolling our eyes at each other and he had no idea 🤭

dancejumpdance · 16/10/2020 16:40

It's good for me as I don't need to pluck my chin hairs when I'm in a rush and need to run errands, the mask just covers it.

My youngest, 25 with SN/autism, had to practice, now I can hardly get it off her! She goes to college and was telling me all about getting her photo taken and how the tutor had to take lots, because she kept closing her eyes. She got her identity pass today. She’s wearing her mask in it because he was so busy trying to get her to keep her fleets open, he never thought to tell her to take it off. 🤣 Waves to friends as I’ve totally outed myself.

Pretending i dont see people i dont want to talk to

PenelopePollet · 16/10/2020 16:47

As a complete introvert I actually find them to be quite comforting. Both wearing one myself and others wearing them. I struggle with facial recognition and feel less rude for not saying hello to people when I can’t place them because I can blame it on the masks. I will be quite sad when we no longer have to wear them. Sounds silly but it makes me feel invisible and I love that about them.

Didyousaynutella · 16/10/2020 16:48

I can use my gormless, concentrating, mouth open face when at work

SionnachRua · 16/10/2020 16:49

Loving the soft cloth ones in the winter tbh. I hate my face getting cold!

uncomfortablydumb53 · 16/10/2020 16:55

I find them quite comforting, and now have a reason not to talk if I don't want to!

megletthesecond · 16/10/2020 16:57

I like being able to whisper swear at idiots. It keeps me warm too.

AibuTellMe · 16/10/2020 16:57

I do! Hate my teeth so I feel so much more confident speaking to people with a mask on. Quite like it 🙈 can't afford braces unfortunately.

pooopypants · 16/10/2020 17:07

Chin hairs. Triple chin. Resting bitch face.

All solved with a face mask. I'm loving it.

kingdomcapers · 16/10/2020 17:08

@thurmanmurman thanks for the heads up - I hadn't considered the perils of getting used to being free with the cat bum expression. I'll be joining you for a smack in the gob in Tesco

FuckingBUTTERbeans · 16/10/2020 17:08

I poked my tongue out at someone behind mine the other day.

Yes, I do this too.

DeliciouslyFemale · 16/10/2020 17:09

The problem is, when we are eventually able to go out without them, the world is going to sound very loud, as we will have all gotten into the habit of shouting to be heard. Well still be shouting. 😁

workhomesleeprepeat · 16/10/2020 17:11

I ‘sing’ along to all my music (always have headphones in) with my mask on and I love it! Makes my trip to Morrison’s much more fun.

Also it keeps my face lovely and warm as the weather cools down

KetoPenguin · 16/10/2020 17:12

I must say I find them uncomfortable but there are some beautiful ones I have seen.

Thisisnotataste · 16/10/2020 17:15

I like swinging one on as I walk into the shops. Feel like I'm in a film about to rob a bank... obviously I am a very law abiding citizen really!

Poppyismyfavourite · 16/10/2020 17:16

haha I don't love it but don't mind.
however I have developed a weird habit of constantly touching it with my lips/tongue, and am now worried I'll carry on doing that after we stop wearing them and look weird...

Also discovered that if you burp in your mask it is truly horrible Envy

Destinysdaughter · 16/10/2020 17:18

I like how the black ones make men look mysterious and cool and I wonder what their faces look.like beneath them. Some men look much more attractive wearing a mask than without! Grin

Not thought about how it might make your face warmer in winter as only wear them inside.

I've also been thinking that for famous pp they must be hugely liberating as you can go out and about without pp recognising you!

RiseoftheSeahorse · 16/10/2020 17:19

I have to wear it all day at work and really like it now. It hides my double chin, I don’t need to pluck/wax the hairs around my chin and upper lip, I’m self-conscious of my teeth (especially now I haven’t seen the dentist in so long!) and I only do half a face of make up in the morning, so it saves me time!

notanotheronepleasee · 16/10/2020 17:20

Feel like I'm hiding a bit. Also love not having to be conscious of spots I get around the edges of my jaw!

yetanothernamitynamechange · 16/10/2020 17:35

yes but then I got so used to wearing it I forgot I wasn't and mouthed fuck of at someone the other day and they saw Blush
so yes, huge social problems on the way when we are on the other side of this...

thenightsky · 16/10/2020 17:40

Yes. I can smile with my eyes and not have to show my manky teeth. I've not bothered bleaching my moustache since masks came in.
I'm hoping it will help with my freezing nose over the winter too.

Justmuddlingalong · 16/10/2020 17:42

I've got a massive boil at the top of my lug, just where the string of my mask sits. 🤪 I've had to resort to using buffs while I wait for the antibiotics to do their best. The buff might just contain any explosion if said boil bursts when I'm out and about.
