Weird neighbour

He's painted his drive swimming pool blue !!! It clashes with his recently painted garage door (which is actually a really nice shade of sage green). He sanded the paving slabs before he painted those as well. I see it as soon as I get out of bed in a morning and I can see the blue if I'm stood in my kitchen. It's hideous. He's a laughing stock. Everyone walking past are talking about it.

OP posts:
PaternosterLoft · 13/09/2020 11:35

Can you chalk a few fish on the pavement?
Wait until he's out and park a massive blow up shark on it?

I cant imagine the landlord has agreed to it. Maybe 'can I paint the driveway blue' got a yea thinking it would be any other shade of blue.

PaternosterLoft · 13/09/2020 11:36

Also - who makes driveway paint?

MrsSiriusBlack1 · 13/09/2020 11:38

I like it! Grin

TheSeedsOfADream · 13/09/2020 11:38

@Everysinglebloodytime

This is a light hearted thread where you've mocked and posted a picture of someone's house on a forum where things frequently get pinched and published in national news sites?

Did you think it through first?

You can read the licence plate of the red car as well. This is a nasty thread.
LouiseNW · 13/09/2020 11:39

Libertylee

Maybe he can’t see very well, and the blue drive is like some kind of car landing strip.“

Perhaps best not to drive then ..... ? Grin

Maybe it’s an helipad. Now that will really piss the neighbours off.

vodkaredbullgirl · 13/09/2020 11:40

Ebay sell it lol not sure about it being blue.

CuriousFluff · 13/09/2020 11:42

@GinisLife you could always try reporting to the local planning dept and see where that gets you? There are cases in law like this due to devaluation effects on surrounding houses due to the weirdness putting off buyers.

Catawaul · 13/09/2020 11:43

I wonder if he rents out his driveway for other people to park in, it would make it really simple to find.

Everysinglebloodytime · 13/09/2020 11:46

@The SeedsOfADream

It feels very much like school with the piling on to laugh at the weirdo.

Wonder how many of these people share anti bullying or be kind memes?

LouiseNW · 13/09/2020 11:58

Everysinglebloodytime

Perhaps lots of people just really wouldn't mind?

I wouldn’t, got more pressing concerns atm.

Everysinglebloodytime · 13/09/2020 11:59

Sorry I don't understand what you mean

LouiseNW · 13/09/2020 12:05

I mean that an awful lot of people find it very difficult to get het up about what colour a neighbour or their tenant paints a part of their property when there are far more pressing national issues at hand.

Even harder to understand that someone’s ire is so great that they would, presumably without permission, post a photograph of that property and the persons car on the internet.
I don’t see anything remotely “kind” in that.

Bluemooninmyeyes1 · 13/09/2020 12:08

I’ve seen the photo and the colour is not to my taste but how do you know he’s ‘weird’? Do you actually know him or have you just chosen to judge his entire personality based on the colour he’s chosen to paint his driveway?

Everysinglebloodytime · 13/09/2020 12:08

Oh I get you and totally agree.

All the piss taking out of someone who presumably has no idea and we don't know anything about feels very wrong.

Aweebawbee · 13/09/2020 12:10

Sanded his drive? Nice and smooth? Good idea!

LouiseNW · 13/09/2020 12:13

Apologies, everysinglebloodytime

I misunderstood and thought you were suggesting that people were piling on to the OP, not the poor, unsuspecting sod whose home/character is being criticised.

That said, anyone with the strength of character to paint their drive blue probably isn’t going to lose a lot of sleep about what a neighbour with too much time on their hands thinks of them.

Fartleking · 13/09/2020 12:21

Do what @PaternosterLoft says under cover of dark and film his reactionGrin! "Can you chalk a few fish on the pavement? Wait until he's out and park a massive blow up shark on it?"

BTW I do think it's vile but at least it gives the neighbourhood some character. It's very Privet dr otherwise, no?

madcatladyforever · 13/09/2020 12:23

Only death will suffice, you need to get a lynch mob together. The bastard.

MulticolourMophead · 13/09/2020 12:31

@WhoAmIWhoAreYou

Hahaha. All those people that are saying they love it etc.. are full of BS! They wouldn't "love" it, if they had to look at it every bloody day.
I like it. I'd be happy to live next door to it. I might even do it myself....
LouiseNW · 13/09/2020 12:31

madcatladyforever

😂

SchadenfreudePersonified · 13/09/2020 12:55

@EarthSight

Lol. Bless!

That isn't sage green (which is duller, more subdued and lot more National Trust than that). It comes across more greeny turquoise on my screen anyway.

What he needs is a third colour. It would make it stand out even more but it would work better. He should paint the garage roof a pale powdery pink.

I agree.
AnotherBoredOne · 13/09/2020 13:06

Wow - is it a waterproofing coat??

chocolateoranges33 · 13/09/2020 13:14

I like it! Definitely brightens up the road.

MorganKitten · 13/09/2020 13:16

@GinisLife

I really don't care that he rents. I think the landlord might care if they saw it though. I know they rent because I know who owns it. They live abroad
Landlord might be ok with it, or not that bothered. Most renters have to return things to original fixtures when they leave anyway.
MissMaple82 · 13/09/2020 13:45

I think its hideous! And I think most of these people commenting on how fun he is would be pissed if he lived opposite them!
