Weird neighbour

He's painted his drive swimming pool blue !!! It clashes with his recently painted garage door (which is actually a really nice shade of sage green). He sanded the paving slabs before he painted those as well. I see it as soon as I get out of bed in a morning and I can see the blue if I'm stood in my kitchen. It's hideous. He's a laughing stock. Everyone walking past are talking about it.

OP posts:
SonjaMorgan · 12/09/2020 22:20

I love it. His door needs brightening up next.

EarthSight · 12/09/2020 22:21

Lol. Bless!

That isn't sage green (which is duller, more subdued and lot more National Trust than that). It comes across more greeny turquoise on my screen anyway.

What he needs is a third colour. It would make it stand out even more but it would work better. He should paint the garage roof a pale powdery pink.

macaroniinapot · 12/09/2020 22:21

I really think the PP who pointed out it's NHS blue is onto something. I bet a big 'thank you NHS' maybe from his business or similar is to follow.

Saying someone is a laughing stock because of the colour of their drive makes you sound ridiculous. Who gives a shit about someone else's drive?!

EarthSight · 12/09/2020 22:21

Yellow?
NotCommuting · 12/09/2020 22:22

You wouldn't be happy living by it.

I wouldn't do it myself but honestly dont see what is so offensive about it, so no it wouldn't bother me a jot.

macaroniinapot · 12/09/2020 22:23

Whilst we are on the subject though, what kind of paint do you use for such a high traffic area?

SonjaMorgan · 12/09/2020 22:27

@EarthSight I was thinking flamingo pink.

VintageStitchers · 12/09/2020 22:29

I love it but then my house is painted pink. 🤷🏻‍♀️

CostaCosta · 12/09/2020 22:32

This thread reminds me of The Big Orange Splot. Go and have some lemonade with him and sort it out.

toomanyplants · 12/09/2020 22:37

I like it.
In my old house I had a bright pink front door, and a huge artificial flower arrangement surrounding it
When I moved I had a message from a neighbour to say they were sorry to see me go, I brought a bit of life to the avenue with my colour.
Live and let live, it's honestly not your business.
Bravo to mr flamboyant over the road 💫

Brigante9 · 12/09/2020 22:39

As a landlord, I’d be raging. As a neighbour, I couldn’t give a stuff.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 12/09/2020 22:39

Perhaps he’s having some kind of breakdown, poor chap.

Could be. Is there an AA van parked on the road outside? That could be a useful clue.

lborgia · 12/09/2020 22:44

Thing is, I would probaby be relieved that he has made such an effort. Given that I can’t even rely on DH to consistently remember to do anything house-related, I’m very impressed with the effort. Not sure if I’ve seen right, but it looks as if he’s got a very natty south East Asian-inspired bed with sculptures in it, and he’s got matching plant pots either side of the door.

It looks completely ridiculous, but they must love it, and for the execution of the plan, for having a damn plan, I give him credit.

Griselda1 · 12/09/2020 22:45

I'm guessing he's using french chic paint. If you look at the fb page people paint toasters, kettles, sofas, washing machines, fabric suites and pathways, driveways etc.

Smallsteps88 · 12/09/2020 23:03

Surely he’d use Green Flag?

honeyytoast · 12/09/2020 23:10

I think it sounds nice

feelingsicknow · 12/09/2020 23:17

I understand where you're coming from OP. It looks cobalt which is my favourite colour in the world but it does look a bit garish when painted all over a driveway. But it doesn't matter what you say on here - most MNetters just like to be contrary.

As for your own driveway, I also inherited brick paving like yours and unless I win the lottery and am able to give up work and/or employ a gardener, I will forever be battling moss and weeds. It's a nightmare. However, it's no reason for people to be rude to you.

NaePies · 13/09/2020 00:13

@ILikeTrains

I must be tired - I was thinking he had a swimming pool on his drive, as opposed to his indoor swimming pool or outdoor swimming pool, this was his drive swimming pool. I'll get my coat.
Get mine too cos I thought the same
LouiseNW · 13/09/2020 11:30

Please see photo then tell me this isn't freakin weird.”

That isn’t freaking weird.
The reddish packers are a bit dull though Grin

LouiseNW · 13/09/2020 11:30

Paviers, not packers!

One way to prevent uninvited callers.

LaurieFairyCake · 13/09/2020 11:32

I like it

Big fan of bright colours - would happily live with it or next door to it

LouiseNW · 13/09/2020 11:34

WhoAmIWhoAreYou

Hahaha. All those people that are saying they love it etc.. are full of BS! They wouldn't "love" it, if they had to look at it every bloody day.“

I would. Our neighbours painted their wooden perimeter fence alternately blue and purple during lockdown. We are in a very naice town. It looks lovely, I smile every time I see it: don’t get out much these days 🙄

They’ll probably put it back to brown creosote when all of this weirdness is eventually over, mires the pity.

MarthasGinYard · 13/09/2020 11:35

It's as though he's creating a playmobil set....

Watch out the sand will arrive next

Everysinglebloodytime · 13/09/2020 11:35

This is a light hearted thread where you've mocked and posted a picture of someone's house on a forum where things frequently get pinched and published in national news sites?

Did you think it through first?
