To think Eric Joyce’s sentence is woeful

He is a violent criminal and paedophile the who has just received an 8 month suspended sentence for downloading an image of the worst kind of abuse to a 12 month old baby. The story has gained little traction in the media or online, and I imagine it’s related to his partner, India Knight who is standing by him, despite having a underage daughter herself who is living with Joyce. I hope they review that sentence - it seems completely inadequate to me.

He has an awful record of drunken violence. The sentences for possession of images of CSA are too short in my view.

It’s beyond belief that the sentence is so lenient. Analysis of his computers shows he searched for films and viewed them. What does it take to get this taken seriously?

Errrr @Anotherlovelybitofsquirrel, I think you missed the 'suspended' bit of the sentence? He's at home with India and her daughter.

I think the child is 17 so I’m not sure if they would. She’s vulnerable due to disabilities though.

Unfortunately around 300,000 people are estimated to view child abuse images in the UK. Wish we could castrate them all.

How can she let him back into the family home? Hopefully the father of the child will intervene.

As far as I'm aware India Knight isn't staying with him. They have broken up around the time he was arrested.

While none of us would have him in our home with our children, we are still treading the well-worn path of berating the woman in relation to his acts.

And of course women are disproportionately affected by this, while disgusting men like Joyce are able to carry on with little consequences.

It's a pitiful sentence and I'm horrified that any woman would stick by a man who committed such a crime. I didn't have much time for IK before this - her fiction revealed her as such a shallow woman - but I can't believe a mother would share house room with a man like that.
