To think Eric Joyce’s sentence is woeful

He is a violent criminal and paedophile the who has just received an 8 month suspended sentence for downloading an image of the worst kind of abuse to a 12 month old baby. The story has gained little traction in the media or online, and I imagine it’s related to his partner, India Knight who is standing by him, despite having a underage daughter herself who is living with Joyce. @2step obviously I can’t comment on the experience of your family member, but where I work that would be totally unacceptable. You do have to bear in mind though that unless people are informing Children’s Services that this sort of thing is taking place, they are limited in what they can do.

If he's on the sex offenders register now then he won't be able to live in a house with a vulnerable 17 year old girl. Which is good obviously. So India won't have much of a choice will she?
Obviously he's the one who's an absolute excuse for a human but why did she stay with him given all his previous? It's mind boggling.

In my experience, the vast majority of women remain supportive of their partners/family members in this situation. It is astonishing what people will put up with/turn a blind eye to.

I couldn’t. Financially I’d be up shit creek but how can you look someone in the eye when they’ve been convicted - no question marks or ‘accident’.

I don’t understand the sentencing though. It sounded like a secret crime yet the sentence seems rather light. The newspaper reports didn’t go into it.

Another reason the sentence is inadequate , besides the obvious, is the time and horrific things the police have to go through to bring the conviction . It is an insult to that let alone anything else .

Seems like they already have. Nobody high profile apart from Julie Bindel and Samantha Morton have commented on it, and yes the sentence is a shocking travesty of justice. For crying out loud, people still get jailed for refusing to pay their TV licence!

Petition signed. Appalling sentence. Given that he’s an ex labour MP I’m surprised that Keir Starmer or a female labour MP hasn’t made a comment & disassociated him from the party. But probably they couldn’t care less. ?

Disgraceful sentence.

Eric Joyce was suspended from the Labour Party after he was violent and then he resigned.

Absolutely disgusting that sentence, in my view if people choose to view child sexual abuse then they should be sentenced as if they'd commited that crime. If it wasn't in demand it wouldn't be made. I hold every person who watches it responsible for the abuse of the poor children and babies.

He’s an awful, awful man. A dreadful MP and he caused the local Labour Party a lot of needless stress and pretty much made it an automatic SNP seat ( which was fine by me 😀) He’s an alcoholic and that seems to be behind a lot of the violence etc. Remember when he was ‘dating’ a 17 year old party worker not that long ago? Apparently he’s still with India Knight which I find hard to believe???

I wonder if she feels any shame for this now deleted grossly self-serving tweet in which she presents zero empathy for victims, victims including the ones in the video her partner saw?

I think the fact that IK hasn't publicly dissociated herself from this degenerate says it all.

He used to be my MP. He’s a hideous piece of work and that sentence is disgraceful.

For all those berating India Knight - imagine she was posting about this in relationships.

Would you have the same lack of compassion then for a woman living with a man like this? Or would you offer support and try to understand?

It’s so depressing that women are always tied up in blame around men’s actions.

Anyone in a situation resembling IKs, if she is still with him, should not be posting for advice in Relationships, they should be packing their bags and leaving. Some things are simply unforgivable. This kind of behaviour by men should be traduced by every woman, not indulged and placated. If women don't protect our children who will?

The only person in this mess I sympathise with is IK's 17 year old daughter.
