For both, a woman and a man...

OP posts:
Gwenhwyfar · 16/11/2020 20:06

Women over 5 ft 8, men over 5 ft 10.

lazylinguist · 16/11/2020 20:07

Women 5'9" men 6 foot. I'm really surprised at people saying 5'7" for a woman. I'm 5'6" and feel like I'm about average, so 5'7" doesn't seem tall to me.

CherryValanc · 16/11/2020 20:13

Saw this thread and thought "sure there was a thread exactly like this a few months ago"

Then I came across my answer 😂

Is there a reason it's been resurrected?

Gemma2019 · 16/11/2020 20:17

Women over 5ft 8. Men over 6ft 2

LadyOfTheFlowers · 16/11/2020 20:18

I'm 5'11
DP is 6'6 but he's a freak WinkGrin

I felt odd and awkward growing up, but I feel fine now I am a proper adult and not overly talk even though I am taller than all women I know and similar height to men

Jellykat · 16/11/2020 20:26

I'm 5'11 too, and wouldn't consider any height below me as tall (but maybe thats because i'm looking down Grin)

For men over 6'1 is tall by my book.

LadyCatStark · 16/11/2020 20:46

Women over 5’6
Men over 6’

Ivy455 · 16/11/2020 20:49

Women over 5'7. Men over 6'. I'm only 4'11 though so everyone seems like a giant to me.

CuppaZa · 16/11/2020 20:51

Women 5ft 9 and over
Men over 6ft

Shosha1 · 16/11/2020 20:51

5.9 for women and 6.3 for men

But then apart from me being 5.1 and DF who was 5.8, all my family are, or were tall.

DM was 5.10
My 4 brothers start at 6.1 and finish at 6.5
DS is 6.0 and counted as short .

Wandafishcake · 16/11/2020 20:53

Women over 5ft 7
Men over 6 ft 2

Kseniya · 17/11/2020 11:42

for a woman - from 5'6
for a man - from 6'1

Tinythumbelina · 17/11/2020 12:02

Over 5'9 for a woman 6'2 for a man. If you play basketball you're still short. My SIL is 6'1 and shorter than her daughter & her 14 year old son.

@WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll

Too simple, I think. Access to high protein eg milk/meat seems to have upped the ante for your Japanese/Masai ask. IMHO the Dutch are the tallest people in Western Europe and no one has yet explained it since they were part of the Spanish empire for years along with Belgium etc none noted for height.

Worthy of research. Understandably where you have huge countries like China, Russia, USA with very different tribes and make up you will get significant differentials.

I'd answer the OP another way. 5/2 is small for a woman, 5/8 is small for a man.

RattleOfBars · 17/11/2020 16:45

Women: 5’9 and over
Men: 6’2 and over

SignOnTheWindow · 17/11/2020 16:49

I'm 5'7" and I feel I'm quite short. Maybe 5'10 and over for a woman?

For a man, I'd say 6'2" and over is tall.

FudgeBrownie2019 · 17/11/2020 16:51

I'm 5'9" and don't count myself as particularly tall. I come from a family of long-legged folk, though, and in comparison I'm definitely average.

For men I'd say anything above 6'2" is tall. DS1 is 15 and just hit 6'5" and showing no signs of stopping yet.
