(LIGHT HEARTED)

Just that really.

I think my favourite was fairly recently - CV related and one of the first responses to was “You dh is literally trying to kill you” (along the lines of not wearing a mask in the shops).

I thought she only knew the tap was being used because it wasn't turned off properly.

NoWordForFluffy · 09/07/2020 21:11

Grin @pussycatinboots

BurtonHouse · 09/07/2020 22:09

I asked for advice as my husband of 30 years was threatening to leave me because my.libido had dropped off a cliff after menopause. Was shocked at the number of replies saying I should be grateful he still fancied me at my age. Never asked for advice since.

Because I wasn't fucking sure if it was the fucking thread where the fucking tap was left on. Hence saying I wasn't sure if it was the same fucking thread. Alright?!

@NoWordForFluffy fucking hell that's her be done as one of the most OTT responses on its own! Batshit fucking crazy are you! Grin

PablosHoney · 10/07/2020 07:54

A poster on a current thread saying it’s lazy not to work for free in the summer holidays 😂

Soubriquet · 10/07/2020 08:29

@PablosHoney

A poster on a current thread saying it’s lazy not to work for free in the summer holidays 😂
I hope they volunteer to do lots of hours then
PablosHoney · 10/07/2020 08:43

Ohh they have volunteered sooo much in the past, that is really lovely and volunteers are worth their weight in gold but we’re not all in the position to be able to afford that! I work term time because of the children, imagine paying for childcare to go in for free 😂

@Polyxena I was just chuckling at the trigger warning hysteria on that snake thread too.

As if a thread that's says "snake in the garden" wasn't fucking warning enough! 🤣

Legoandloldolls · 10/07/2020 21:58

Trigger warningvwhen it says snake in the title?

Soooooo...... you have snake phobia and still open a thread on snakes?
Ok then.....

Baby wipe thread today. Again it's the disproportionate hysteria to inane non issues that blows my mind.

wanderings · 11/07/2020 07:36

There's a cracking thread right now about someone refusing to eat birthday cake, because of the birthday boy blowing out the candles.

Lorddenning1 · 11/07/2020 08:04

@Legoandloldolls have you got the link for the bay wipe one?

Soubriquet · 11/07/2020 08:24

The sea monkey one is batshit

I still think the best reply ever has to be
“So all of those who oppose of flushing the sea monkeys, how do you stand on wasps”

“Carefully. With a shoe”

GrinGrin

doyounothavegoogle · 11/07/2020 09:15

@wanderings

I came on to nominate the birthday cake one - you've beaten me to it, but I am reassured that it's not just me!

Totally bonkers.

drspouse · 11/07/2020 09:22

My DD had a Zoom birthday party and we then walked bits of her cake round to her friends. Good luck to any parent who tried to stop their 6 year old from eating it...

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 11/07/2020 09:57

My ‘favourites’ are e.g., ‘Friend/relative is downright lazy/selfish/ nasty/greedy/a CF freeloader,’ etc.

‘Oh, but s/he probably has MH ishoos, they need help.’

PablosHoney · 11/07/2020 16:02

There is always that ‘what if’ poster eg, ‘I got punched in the face by my boss’ ‘But what if she has issues’ or the poster that knows more about what happened to you than you do 😂😂 dare to disagree then they’ll denigrate you and insult your intelligence.

ChristmasCarcass · 11/07/2020 16:09

PablosHoney the “issues” are always autism if they are under 40, or dementia if they are over 40.

If you say that you know the person well and there is zero to suggest that, they insist they might have “invisible disabilities”. Which does not mean “disabilities that present as being a shit from time to time, with no other manifestations whatsoever”.

PablosHoney · 11/07/2020 16:12

Yes 😂😂 I have never known anything like it!

Russellbrandshair · 11/07/2020 17:29

I can’t stand the constant defending of abusive behaviour with “maybe it’s autism/dementia/Tourette’s/mad cow disease” BS. It doesn’t make it ok even if it was! Why is it so hard to believe some people are just horrible people?!

AlternativePerspective · 11/07/2020 17:34

Oh it always “sounds like he/she has MH issues...” Hmm.

And am I the only one who detests the term “trigger warning”? Yes, re sexual abuse perhaps but other stuff?

PablosHoney · 11/07/2020 17:41

@AlternativePerspective I hate it too, it’s become a stick to beat people with, how do people live their lives in the real world if they get triggered by reading certain words. I think Gas Lighting is extremely overused too.

AlternativePerspective · 11/07/2020 17:49

You have to wonder don’t you.

I’ve seen e.g. threads about spiders too where someone has said “this thread should contain a trigger warning.” Have resisted the urge to reply, only if it’s the kind of trigger I can use to shoot whoever thinks that there should be triggers on threads.... Grin

I have a serious heart condition and wearing a face mask is a bit of a stark reminder to last year when I had to wear an oxygen mask in ICU. Perhaps I should request that all threads discussing the wearing of masks should contain a trigger warning. Grin r
Or anything that contains reference to heart conditions... Just as long as I don’t tell them that I watch 24 hours in a&E and all this stuff fascinates me even though I’ve been through most of it. Grin.

PablosHoney · 11/07/2020 18:34

😂😂 You’d be well within your rights, tessellation makes me feel sick but it doesn’t tend to come up much
