Boris Johnson - How many children do you have?

AIBU to think it’s a total joke that, in this year 2020, the man who holds the most senior and influential post in the land (apart from Mr Cummings) AND who has recently become a father again, will not even go so far as to publicly acknowledge how many children he has fathered?

How is it acceptable that his Wikipedia page states - “Children - at least 6.”

He obviously has some kind of silencing injunction out, but why is more not made of this? Does he pay maintenance to his other child / ren or not? Are the CSA not after him?

If he was the subject of some feckless “baby father” MN thread, denying the existence of one or more of his kids, how do we think that thread would go?

More than that, imagine a female PM with a similar Wikipedia profile - “Children - ?” She sound be hauled over the coals and it’s all anyone would ever talk about.

So why does this flaming muppet get away with it and why do we have such low standards for a PM, such as we would not accept within our own families or acquaintances?

I don’t care how many children he has. I care that he’s a fucking awful prime minister who doesn’t seem to know what the fuck he’s talking about, and who’s nothing more than the straw topped blancmange mouthpiece of Dominic Cummings.

It's easy enough to find. She is a very wealthy and well connected woman who had an affair with Boris when both were involved with other people. Boris might or might have been the father or her partner might. It's hardly surprising then that Boris was not named on the birth certificate.

She went to court seeking an injunction that Boris should not be named publicly as the girl's father. We have no idea what the private arrangements might be but to paint this as Boris trying to hide the child is completely false.

I think the fact that so many women on here are defending Boris Johnson goes some way to explaining why we have billions in unpaid child support in this country, and a culture that allows men to walk away from their families scot free. The attitude of 'its none of my business' is just crap. We can and should expect better from men in this regard, especially men that purport to lead the country. Leaders should lead by example and expecting the people who lead this country to a higher moral standard is not unreasonable. Maybe if we made it culturally unacceptable to behave like Boris Johnson has, we would see a general change of attitude to this sort of behaviour.

Its especially galling to hear all of these women on mumsnet defend this man given his statements about single mothers and the policies he and his party have put in place that penalise and make the lives of these mothers and their children harder. In the the 10 years of tory rule, we now have a situation were a significant proportion of children in the UK experience food insecurity and are growing up in abject poverty. We know that the effects of austerity were disproportionately experienced by women and children and given the economic collapse expected in the aftermath of brexit and the global pandemic, I would not expect the conservatives will change this situation.

The80sweregreat · 31/05/2020 18:39

My friend said that Stanley Johnson pays all the children's school fees!! I'm sure she's wrong (?)but it must be a big bill if it's true.

Did you miss the part where I posted that the court injunction was at the instance of the mother?

You have no idea whatsoever what financial arrangements were made.

Noextremes2017 · 31/05/2020 20:19

Er we should be worried about this but unfortunately standards in public life are so low and have been for many years that we just kind of accept it.

Where did it start to go downhill?

Blowjob Clinton?
Profumo shagging call girls?
Thorpe shagging rentboys?

So Johnson shagging a few women on the side with some unfortunate consequences - what's the big deal?

It was suggested in another thread that the hold Cummings has over Johnson might be because he has photos of Johnson shagging a pig. If he does and it ever comes out I am sure Conservative Central Office will put some kind of positive 'spin' on it.

So OP - YANBU - and I despair too........

I don’t believe for a second that there’s a single poster on this thread who, if they had a colleague who deliberately refused to say how many children they’d fathered, wouldn’t think that was ridiculous, and secretive.

Boris Johnson has made Britain a laughing stock. It’s pathetic that there are still people defending him, especially with all the blood he has on his hands just now. I honestly don’t know how you sleep at night.

Howaboutanewname · 31/05/2020 21:33

Can you imagine anyone saying the same about a female PM?

The issue is, a woman with multiple children by multiple fathers, one of whom is some kind of not very well kept secret, would never have been permitted to climb the greasy politician’s pole to the top. She’d have been sniffed out, mocked, subjected to all kinds of ‘single mum, benefit scum’ abuse and her career would have been over before it started.

Precisely because of these double standards, Boris should be called out on his piss poor parenting and very clear failure to face up to his domestic responsibilities. If he doesn’t like it, he is in possibly the best position to bring forward legislation and fund public awareness campaigns to stamp out these attitudes. Use his experience for the common good. Show all those deadbeats out there that there is another way. Instead, what do we have? A PM taking paternity leave for his umpteenth child during an unprecedented crisis who refuses to sack a fellow white privileged male for doing exactly as he pleases.

The man has not one ounce of decency in his whole body,

MorganKitten · 31/05/2020 22:03

He tried to put a gag order on one of the baby mamas a few years back. If it was a women or a working class person... the scandal

DidoLamenting · 31/05/2020 22:24

No he didn't. The mother Helen McIntyre applied for an injunction to prevent newspapers naming him as the father of her daughter.

I don’t believe for a second that there’s a single poster on this thread who, if they had a colleague who deliberately refused to say how many children they’d fathered, wouldn’t think that was ridiculous, and secretive

Has he actually done this? Neither he nor Helen McIntyre would confirm or deny he was the father of her child but as she, not him, wanted a gagging order, the lack of confirmation presumably suited her.

TheYellowOfTheEgg · 31/05/2020 22:34

I think he's right not to talk about his children.

1forsorrow · 01/06/2020 10:52

Do you think it is OK that the new one gets splashed over the papers, is given as an excuse for not attending PMQs. No talking about any of them sounds fine, the idea that one child who has potentially never met him seeing the fuss about her new half brother is heart breaking.

ThighThighofthigh · 01/06/2020 10:56

The child (ren) probably took out the injunction, I would

DidoLamenting · 01/06/2020 11:08

What a silly comment.

ThighThighofthigh · 02/06/2020 07:19

I thought it was funny

DateLoaf · 02/06/2020 08:32

He’s right (for their sakes) not to make his kids part of his political ‘brand‘ like some high profile families do, but then he probably doesn’t want to do that anyway because It doesn’t reflect well on his character.
For people saying it doesn’t matter, and they don’t care and he’s great for protecting his kids privacy.... did you complain and think he shouldn’t have announced his Downing St baby’s birth? Should have pretended there was no baby?
