So another killing of a black man Ahmaud Arbery by 2 white men (Father and son) in US. They nearly got away with it calling it a citizen arrest and self defence. Father was a retired policeman.

They followed him, armed with guns and shot him.

Prosecutors tried to cover it up until the video emerged.
Ahmaud’s crime? He was going for a jog.

Funny how it's impossible he was innocent ,despite police reports,a video and all news statements not giving any evidence otherwise. but it's completely impossible that the two killers targeted ,hunted and killed him in cold blood when the end result was a dead UNARMED man.

As a white woman raised in a middle class area and surrounded by seemingly decent people in the current age, I have found discrimination relating to sexism impossible to avoid. It’s everywhere when you really look.

It made me think a while back about the ‘black lives matter’ campaign and how easily white people minimise this. I don’t think it’s something you can really understand until you’ve lived a life as a black person and felt the invisible discrimination that is often not even consciously done. Listen to the song Black by Dave. As a white person I often wonder what it would be like to be black in today’s society and how/if my life would be much different. I heard this song for the first time a few months ago and it raised my hairs, I just felt so many different emotions listening to it.
Black lives matter is a great movement and I really do think the problem is bigger than people realise. It’s very easy to think there’s not much of an issue when you aren’t on the receiving end.

What is the agenda of posters like @vikval81 in saying he was armed when a quick fact check would show that is irrefutably untrue?

Why are some people (especially those who then agree he was murdered in cold blood) so determined to find a way he isn't an innocent victim.

No I will not express outrage at black on black killing because this thread is about the problem that we have with white supremacists like you who try to justify whites killing black people by blaming the victim. Its sickening.

Imagine if that was your white son hunted down by 2 black men in broad daylight whilst out jogging with a video showing the killing and the black men claiming to be making a citizen arrest but your white son did not freeze when face to face with 2 black armed men! What are the chances of no arrests being made by police on the spot in that scenario? Did your son deserve to be shot because he was unarmed - no hammer, no gun, no stolen property on him? What was your white son’s crime?

You are trying to take the focus away from the systemic and institutionalised racism that you have been benefitting from. The entire system is set up to allow for white people to benefit at the expense of black people and literally get away with murder.

Yes and will claim everyone else is racist for mentioning race and they don’t see colour. Vikval said they’re mixed race in another thread and stomped off afterwards because they didn’t like it pointed out that other races have issues in their own communities and it’s not just minorities. Also likes to claim they believe in equality and that everyone is equal but not sure they even know what it means.

Yup, who fall over themselves making up false claims as they go along. A bit like the DA did in this case.

I read yesterday that no burglaries had been reported in the area since 1 January. Sorry if that's been mentioned already on this thread but if it's true it goes to show the malicious warped racist mindset of these murdering thugs

There are lot of interesting stats about race and crime (including types of crime).

A disproportionate number of gun murders are black on black, but that statistic alone has to be taken in the context of social inequalities, and gun culture in black neighbourhoods.

We have a similar issue in the UK with knife crime. More of it (in numbers) is white on white, but proportionally (by ethnicity), it's more prevalent in black communities - but again, there are all sort of socioeconomic reasons for that too.

It's such a complex subject in some ways, but in others it's fairly simple... where you have high levels of inequality and social injustice, you're likely to get higher levels of crime. It's not their colour, but their circumstance that causes it.

YANBU - this is a horrifying case. And even more shocking that the police and authorities sought to protect them. Thank god for the footage as otherwise they would have got away with it.

Well there seems to be a gun that went missing from their unlocked truck before this.

Completely responsible gun owners those two.

If it's true it's possible there was an element of arse covering to it as well in regards to where that gun ended up and due to racism, ofc the black man running MUST be the solution.

There has been a new video released showing Ahmaud entering a house that was under construction, just before the killing occurred.

This may be why the men decided to follow him.

This house was on the road where the McGregor's lived.

A call was made to the police about a black man in a white t-shirts entering a property, but not sure if that meant inside the house, or the grounds...

Regardless, vigilantes, with guns, on the hunt... it's a recipe for disaster, and that's exactly what happened.

@Annamaria14 that video shows someone having a bit of a nosy at a house being built. He's hardly breaking and entering.

New footage has been released from neighbourhood cameras.

But it made me think that those two were jot just racist assholes. Seeing him entering a house in their neighbourhood, got those two men to panic and over react. They thought he was a robber. It is a sad chain of events
