A bottle a night too much?

Just that. It has become a habit since lockdown. A bottle of wine over the course of the evening 4-5 nights per week.
AIBU to think it's too much?

It is too much but by God, it’s so easily done! Maybe restrict it to the weekends OP?

DrManhattan · 23/04/2020 12:53

No

formerbabe · 23/04/2020 12:53

Way too much imo

UnfinishedSymphon · 23/04/2020 12:53

5 bottles of wine over 5 days, yes it's far too much

LorenzoStDubois · 23/04/2020 12:53

Yes I think that's too much, but that's just my opinion.

Is each bottle just for one person or is it shared?

Wewearpinkonwednesdays · 23/04/2020 12:54

Yes, that's a lot!

Sweetandawfulsour · 23/04/2020 12:54

So very easily done! Stop buying it and it’ll soon stop!

ReceptacleForTheRespectable · 23/04/2020 12:54

Yes, I'd ease off as that's a lot.

If I was drinking that, I wouldn't be firing on all cylinders the next day.

Bluegrass · 23/04/2020 12:55

Between two people?

TwistyHair · 23/04/2020 12:55

That’s loads. Is that each or between a couple?

Moomin12345 · 23/04/2020 12:55

Not too much for those of us who don't like the prospect of long healthy lives without liver problems Wink

CandyLeBonBon · 23/04/2020 12:55

It is too much but you're not alone OP. I've been the same and realise it's unhealthy. I've been drinking to blot out the constant feeling of anxiety but I need to find a better solution. It's not great but at least you kind of know that. Don't beat yourself up.

brassers · 23/04/2020 12:56

Just for me. Yes maybe I'll keep it to Friday and Saturday.
Thanks.

fluffdeloop · 23/04/2020 12:56

yes too much, your advised weekly unit limit is a bottle and a half so you will be trashing your liver.

supercee · 23/04/2020 12:56

I agree, so easily done! I've been limiting myself to no more than half a bottle (2ish glasses) which is a mini victory for me if I am going to drink. I'm working all weekend so won't be having any then and then I'll try and cut down further.

WhyCantIthinkOfAgoodOne · 23/04/2020 12:57

You won't be the only one OP but it is definitely far too much.

Hirsutefirs · 23/04/2020 12:57

Why would the OP not say that it was shared between people, if it was?

You lot, honestly!

Honeybee85 · 23/04/2020 12:57

Sorry OP but I would be worried that this could possibly the start of alcoholism.
I am not British and I know the norm on alcohol is different in the UK then it is in my country but I think a bottle of wine every night can not be good even from an objective point of view.

CurtainWitcher · 23/04/2020 12:58

Wow, yes that's a huge amount.

14 units a week maximum and five bottles of wine a week is massively exceeding that.

peoplewhoannoyyou · 23/04/2020 13:12

I don't think a bottle in an evening is a huge amount at all. It's only about 9 or 10 units. At first that will get you completely trollied but once you get used to it you will be able to handle it perfectly well.

artistformerlyknownas · 23/04/2020 13:13

It's so easily done but that's about 40 units, and NHS guidelines are 14-21 maximum for women. Obviously I'm sure most people have gone over the guidelines at some point but if it's every week, yeah I'd say that's too much.

Fishcakey · 23/04/2020 13:14

I'd say it's pretty normal at the moment!

CoffeeIsMyOnlyJoy · 23/04/2020 13:14

It is too much. Totally understand though.

BrandyandBabycham · 23/04/2020 13:15

I have always thought that 14 units a week for women is very low but a bottle of wine to yourself each night is a lot. Having said that, I have a drink problem so it’s all or nothing for me

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 23/04/2020 13:17

Way too much. It says there are 10 units in a bottle so 50 units a week and the recommendation is max 14 units.

I’d just not buy any then there’s no temptation.
