Just that really. He was last seen running towards a London tube station, statement then comes out that he has symptoms (sure everyone else on that carriage were pleased) and we’ve heard fuck all since.

Has he realised his Rasputin days are over and legged it?

@CeibaTree yup, you’re right.

notimagain · 08/04/2020 23:08

I see Priti Patel’s Masters is from the University of Essex, I can’t imagine that’s an establishment with the highest of academic standards*

Darned cheek..

You can say what you like about Priti Patel but as far as Essex Uni goes the Department of Government was and still is very highly regarded...

MintyMabel · 08/04/2020 23:34

but not exactly at elite universities

Oh, right, it’s this particular brand of snobbery we are going for, is it?

You know how many people don’t have degrees from those non-elite universities?

You can’t be as thick as shit and get two degrees (yes even from those apparently shit universities). You can be lots of other things, but thick isn’t one of them.

Peregrina · 09/04/2020 01:17

Most of Johnson's Cabinet have university degrees and quite a lot from Oxford so they are not thick as pigshit, but however clever they are, it doesn't make them nice people.

Peregrina · 09/04/2020 01:19

The Torygraph paid him £250k a year for his column, sounds pretty successful to me.

That sounds like the Torygraph having more money than sense.

FunkyKingston · 09/04/2020 01:32

Still managed to get a degree in Economics and postgrad in Politics despite that, eh?

It is a poor marker of intelligence. I'm a university lecturer, I think you'd be disheartened by the standard of many students taking and passing Masters degrees.

I neither know or care about the details of her qualifications. Having seen her at the dispatch box and interviewed on TV, her reasoning, comprehension and debating skills are embarrassingly poor. Plus her little escapade in Israel speaks of someone incredibly thick if she thought she had a snowball's chance in hell of keeping it under wraps.

Although sadly she is far from alone on a front bench that has been selected not on ability, but to placate the right wing of the Tory party.

TinklyLittleLaugh · 09/04/2020 01:37

I think JRM is too busy carpet bagging to concern himself with saving the nation. Where others see tragedy, he sees opportunity.

Sounds like the Old Boys' Network keeping their chums well greased, if you ask me!

alloutoffucks · 09/04/2020 02:50

No unelected person should have as much power as Cummings appears to have had.

SwerfandTurf · 09/04/2020 02:55

I swear, if someone said something bad about Hitler there’d be Mumsnetters lining up to say, “Sticking the the boot into a suicide victim, how vile and lacking in empathy.”

We don’t actually need to have empathy for people who have oppressed us and killed people.

willowhazel · 09/04/2020 03:18

I hope we get a kinder PM and Tory party by the end of this

Your optimism is admirable to say the least but also sadly deluded.

As for sympathy for Cummings, I have as much sympathy for him as he has for me. Fortunately I don't want or need his.

FunkyKingston · 09/04/2020 04:14

There's about as much chance of that as the Pope coming onto the balcony in Rome in an orange sash, a bowler hat and giving a rendition of the Fighting Billy Boys on the flute.

arnt you already whining about this on another thread, justanotherlurker?

HappydaysArehere · 09/04/2020 06:06

Only comfort at this time is that the Labour Party looks likely to have formed a credible opposition. It’s been awhile coming but at the moment the line up looks promising and they appear ready to support but also hold the government to account. Nothing like a good opposition for keeping any government in check.

Peregrina · 09/04/2020 08:29

I agree about the Hitler statement. It wasn't just the Mitford sisters and Mosley who were admirers. When people realised just how far the Nazi's had gone, they started busily rewriting their personal histories. Sounds very familiar....

Agree too about the Labour Party - it looks a very decent line up, and unlike Johnson, Starmer has given posts to his defeated rivals.

Peregrina · 09/04/2020 08:31

Sorry, rogue apostrophe there.

shinyredbus · 09/04/2020 08:34

Maybe he’s fucking ill or dead - but you know, what you said. Have some god damn empathy. Why are you making this political.

MockersxxxxxxxSocialDistancing · 09/04/2020 08:41

Well somebody has drawn a rainbow and stuck it in the window of 10DS.

It's very odd. The rainbow is complete rubbish, all the wrong colours, like a very small child did it, but the suspiciously on-message slogan, "We are all in this together" is written in immaculate copperplate joined-up writing.

Peregrina · 09/04/2020 08:44

Because it is political.

Cummings was quite happy with the idea of herd immunity when it was the old and already sick who were dying. Then he realised that younger people like himself could catch it.

chomalungma · 09/04/2020 08:44

How can you get a rainbow wrong?

FrankieStein402 · 09/04/2020 08:50

Education education, education - perhaps they missed the 'Richard of York..' lesson?

VegetableMunge · 09/04/2020 08:52

Maybe he’s fucking ill or dead - but you know, what you said. Have some god damn empathy. Why are you making this political.

You telling people not to talk about the political record of a political figure is itself a political stance. Also, stop speculating about his health you massive ghoul.

MockersxxxxxxxSocialDistancing · 09/04/2020 08:53

When you are three and pronounce it fwee, you grab the first pencil you can and start colouring. Any attempt by mummy to get you to start with Red and then Orange etc provokes howls.

So maybe Priti drew it?

Incrediblytired · 09/04/2020 09:00

They haven’t given up on herd immunity.
That’s exactly what they’re doing, they’re just trying to spread all the death out a bit.
