@DrWAnker

Reposting your brilliance GrinGlitterballGin

Reach(for the gin)

When lockdown, leaves you feeling blue
You can count on booze, it will be there for you
When it seems, all home-schooling dreams
Are a million miles away, gin will re-assure you

We've got to all stay apart
Good friends, social distance
Never ever forget that
I've got wine and you've got beer, so

Reach for the gin
Fill every wineglass higher
Reach for the rum
Follow your thirst's desire
Reach for the Pimm's
And when the cocktail's warmth comes over you
That's when your dreams will all come true

I'll tell you the day when the whole country will be clapping so enthusiastically, it'll register on the Richter Scale:

Clap for children, they are fucking off back to school today!!!!

bbpet · 05/04/2020 03:56

oh god how pathetic.

Lynda07 · 05/04/2020 04:36

You cannot be serious, op. Whatever next?
I just read about a pair of new born twins who are (if it isn't a wind up), going to be called, "Covid and Corona". Shall we clap for them?

trappedsincesundaymorn · 05/04/2020 04:48

Right.. I want you all outside on Monday night to applaud my broadband....it's had a hard time the last couple of weeks but it's being brave is coping the best it can under the circumstances....Anybody not out at 8pm sharp will be named and shamed. Grin

DontStandSoCloseToMe · 05/04/2020 04:55

A clap for not going to school, and staying at home with their families..... Wtf

I'd have loved it!!! So would my son, he had lots of things to do at home which he preferred to school. We had garden, when I was a child there were allotments at the back, some of which were not let, were rather overgrown and children often played on them.

Whenwillthisbeover · 05/04/2020 05:27

Sorry but it’s silly, no wonder some children have no resilience.

Peppafrig · 05/04/2020 05:37

Just like that a good thing was ruined. Clapping for carers I can see but the kids ehhmmm nooo. What a waste of time . What will be next clap for the paintbrushes ruined during the lockdown.

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 05/04/2020 05:47

JUST a clap, really? - Just clapping, no dancing a socially distanced conga in fancy dress? Hmm
So bloody stingy, you may as well not bother.

this would probably go down better on the nextdoor.co.uk site.
They all seem to love clapping, & posting crap like 'a man walked down my road who looked suspicious', 'someone went past on a bike, so obviously they were about to mug me/someone', 'this virus is all made up so THEY can install 5g masts so the rays will invade our collective brain cell'
They really bloody love clapping. Ths is in lefty Islington, some of it verging into Corbyn territory; I'd hate to see the posts in Farage-land.

sixthtimelucky · 05/04/2020 06:13

It's a hard NOPE from me.

We will turn into a bunch of zombified, mindless clapping machines soon, like a particularly chilling Black Mirror episode.

To those who are saying 'what an awful thread, be kind'. No. This kind of meaningless, empty, syrupy twattery gets us nowhere and achieves nothing. I'll get on with staying inside and donating money to the Red Cross thanks.

Jozen · 05/04/2020 06:25

We got honking horns as you drive past for birthdays now too. Birthdays of kids you don't even know.
If this fucking racket of constant clapping and honking doesn't keep the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse away, I don't what will.

PieceOfMaria · 05/04/2020 06:26

Why does everyone have to hijack everything these days? Why can’t anything just be left for the people/purpose it was originally intended for?

This reminds me of the sort of idiot school gate mothers who arrange proms and limos for their child’s ‘graduation’ from primary school.

Stellamboscha · 05/04/2020 07:25

Oh, god I assumed this had to be some kind of a joke!
Let's just get normal human contact back again instead of this syrupy ersatz rubbish.

Redwoodmaz · 05/04/2020 07:36

It's a bit cruel to wish the Clap onto kids, isn't it?

OmgThereAreNoPlanesAboveMeNow · 05/04/2020 08:08

Don't forget clapping for delivery drivers! It's supposed to be tomorrow sometimes between 7AM and 7PM

PhilCornwall1 · 05/04/2020 08:10

If you're lucky, they'll text you with a 2 hour times slot.

OmgThereAreNoPlanesAboveMeNow · 05/04/2020 08:19

People. This is one thread where reading more than page 1 is quite crucial 😂

Chesneyhawkes1 · 05/04/2020 08:23

@YeahWhatevver can we have something for train drivers too please 😜

Spotsandstars · 05/04/2020 08:27

Nobody feels this should be a thing

Thesoundofnohandsclapping · 05/04/2020 08:29

A fiver says the following will never happen.

In late April 2030 Jane will have her 13th birthday. During dinner with her family the conversation will turn to the coronavirus pandemic in 2020.

Jane will turn to her mother and say 'mum, I remember April 5th ten years ago when everyone started clapping for me and the other kids. I felt like a hero that day, and it really was the best day ever. I'm so glad everyone clapped that afternoon!'

I think we should clap for cats. Poor things hate having us home all the time and probably wish we'd leave the house so they can nap in peace Grin

BeyondMymymymyCorona · 05/04/2020 09:13

Won't anyone spare a thought for the "and the whole room street stood up and clapped" memes? :(

Kraejka · 05/04/2020 09:33

Don't worry - it's all in hand. A few people have mentioned Clap for Cats on this thread already - it's about to hit social media soon. I think it's planned for 4.35am on Monday.
