I asked my dc what they thought of this. They're 8 5 and 1. The 8 and 5 year olds thought it was "pants" and the 1 year old threw up.

flirtygirl · 04/04/2020 23:40

Clap for what????

Bloody eech
All kids need to understand what is going on is to
Sit them down and make them watch "The Sparticle Mystery"
Thats a nice opener..

Then "The Tribe"

Then "Survivors".

Follow up with both "Outbreak" and "Contagion".

There sorted... They will understand.

Has covid-19 turned people into a bunch of clapping seals as I missed that symptom, parb parb parb

Cohle · 04/04/2020 23:41

My kids are not being fucking heroes for a start Grin

Might give my DS a round of applause if he empties the bloody dishwasher though.

finn1020 · 04/04/2020 23:41

I thought that was a joke it was so ridiculous then realised ... it was serious. Shock

m0therofdragons · 04/04/2020 23:43

If I start clapping my dc they will think I've lost my mind. How about I hug them and tell them they're doing great, be there for them, ask how they're feeling, ask what they need to feel okay?

echobench · 04/04/2020 23:45

Nope.

SpokeTooSoon · 04/04/2020 23:45

I can clap for essential workers on Thursdays, shine a torch in my garden on Fridays, dance on my doorstep on a Saturday and applaud the kiddies on Sunday. Just 3 nights to fill then

On another thread a poster suggested “Tits out for truckers” on a Tuesday.

donquixotedelamancha · 04/04/2020 23:46

I will report anyone I see trying to give kids the clap to the police. Disgusting.

m0therofdragons · 04/04/2020 23:47

@Anaphylactic my cats keep staring at me as if to say, are you leaving yet so I can have the sofa? One of them looks especially irritated that we're not leaving her in peace.

Bunnyfuller · 04/04/2020 23:51

I think we should bang doggy bowls on Weds lunchtimes to thank all the doggies putting up with so many walkies.

Shit like this diminishes the real sentiment behind the original movement for the NHS.

My mates in the NHS say thanks for the clapping, but honestly we’d just prefer you never vote fucking Tory again.

jadey0891 · 04/04/2020 23:56

@NCforthisMarch
Thank you

I am proud of the parents and children for adhering to the guidance

It's not bloody guidance, we have been ordered to stay at home. Are we really so devoid of any common sense these days that we should feel 'proud' of people who do as they are instructed in order to save their own and other people's lives? Really?

This is an extended school holiday minus being with friends (and they can communicate from home more effectively than ever before). Children were sent away to live with complete strangers in the past, or stayed home and often faced being bombed. My dad spend many nights under the kitchen table with his mum as bombs fell. Now that was a tough time for children.

WeAllHaveWings · 04/04/2020 23:57

I feel that if you haven't got anything nice to say don't say it at all.

How would anyone know they were talking shite then?

I won't be clapping for ds getting off school and bravely playing on his PS4 🙄

Cherrysoup · 04/04/2020 23:58

Who would you be doing this for? The same kids that you’re going to wake up by clapping? Who on earth has tried to cash in on the Clap for the NHS by putting this on? Ridiculous.

jadey0891 · 04/04/2020 23:58

@msflibble
Thank you

How about downing shots for students on Mondays
A fart for farmers on Tuesdays
and a wank for home workers on Wednesdays.

WaxOnFeckOff · 05/04/2020 00:02

I recommend that Wednesdays are not done outside...

Changednamesorry · 05/04/2020 00:05

Yes @crunchymum we do. Not every night like we do for sanitaria but we do. And I join in. My little boys are really encouraged by it. Neither of them have left our apartment which has no outside space whatsoever for 3 weeks now. And they are really behaving well despite being unable to see their friends at all...no sports, no fresh air except standing on the balcony at the back that faces a stone wall.......they run up and down the apartment every 150 times and door all sorts of indoor exercises to stay active. So yes. We clap. Because this is hard for a 9 year old and a 3 year old. And that's fine.

Namechangedforthisreply7 · 05/04/2020 00:05

I laughed out loud at Wednesday’s activity @WaxOnFeckOff, I’m well up for that!

RedRedScab · 05/04/2020 00:14

Whoever thought this one up should've kept it to themselves.

Excited101 · 05/04/2020 00:17

Can I introduce the idea of ‘necking for nannies’ loads of nannies are still working so that the economy can keep going, or something. It’ll be at 9pm (post watershed, obvs) you have to neck someone in your doorway, only other adults you live with though, no randoms.

Excited101 · 05/04/2020 00:17

And well done op for taking your roasting so well, I’m impressed- I’d have been a mess!

Hotcoldsometimessnowy · 05/04/2020 00:21

Sorry, I did not mean to be inflammatory. I just hear so many times both from friends and from news broadcasts that people are deliberately going against the lockdown advice.

LittleChoCho · 05/04/2020 00:25

Binge Drink for Bin Men is happening every night in my house until this thing is over
Same here, followed by a shag for shelf stackers. Grin

kateandme · 05/04/2020 00:25

everyones going through their own shit in this.what about those with autism.or mental health.or domestic violence.or just your really able healthy bastard that is actually finding this fucking tough.
there are the strongest minded folks who have felt this really really bad.
we are all struggling at some point.we are all scared and overwhelmed and trying to keep our shit together.some manage it some are really not.many are in between or have moment of holy shit.
yes the nurse and key workers are doing brilliant.but so is everyone just trying to get through.
