For those that can't get delivery slots.

Excellent idea! I was about to order one for my Nan but she is insisting that she is fine and she's going to have a wander around Asda tomorrow! It's like banging my head against a brick wall trying to get her to stay in. She thinks it's a big fuss over nothing 😒

SchadenfreudePersonified · 23/03/2020 16:28

Autocarrot - Thank you - I was struggling but managed to get some today - and another MNer has suggested a further pet delivery service, thank heavens.

I have enough in now for us all to stay indoors for a couple of weeks and avoid most shops - we may run out of milk and bread, but there is a small local shop where we can usually get these, though I'd prefer not to go out at all so we may just do without if necessary.

I'm a Sainsbury online shopper, but haven't been offered a vulnerable person's slot - I don't know what their criteria are, or how they know who qualifies. I'm 66 and DH is 73, but he is self-isolating as he has a heart problem and ulcerative colitis. I have Sjogren's syndrome, which is an auto-immune condition, but I've checked, and I don't think it renders me especially vulnerable. I've tried to ring them to see if I could go on the "vulnerable" list, but can't get through - I've been trying all day.

I went out, with disposable gloves, wiped down all of my shopping (including the bananas!) with disinfectant solution, then showered and washed my clothes.

The supermarket wasn't too bad, except that the girl who helped me put my shopping through (I was on a Service-yourself till and there was a problem or three) talked to me for ages, even as I was walking away and nodding and trying not to breathe (this happens to me a lot - I must have a more sympathetic face than I realise - there is often murder in my heart Angry). There were quite a few people in face masks, the lucky buggers!

DD has been told not to go into to work. DS and DIL work in a school and are "childminding" for essential workers. I'm worried sick about them.

Superb idea. Hopefully the other retailers will follow suit!*

DramaAlpaca · 23/03/2020 16:31

Thank you so much for this, I've just let my elderly parents know.

cinammonbuns · 23/03/2020 16:32

Thanks for sharing

SFCA · 23/03/2020 16:32

Amazing!!! Thank you so much for sharing have just ordered for my grandparents

magicfarawaytrees · 23/03/2020 16:33

Morrison’s have really upped their game this fortnight. A very good idea.

AdoptAdaptImprove · 23/03/2020 16:37

Oh this is fab - now I can get food to my older in-laws who should be staying in because of health conditions, but don’t do internet, so are having to go out and try too many shops. Thank goodness for Morrison’s, I’ve always used them for my deliveries but can’t get any for ages at the moment.

cornishdreams1 · 23/03/2020 16:39

amazing thank you my mum is desperate and housebound

goodwinter · 23/03/2020 16:39

Oh it's a separate delivery system! Just ordered one for Friday - thank you SO much :)

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 23/03/2020 16:40

This is such a good idea. I'm going ot bookmark the link, just in case we end up needing it. Thanks for posting, OP.

JRUIN · 23/03/2020 16:40

Good idea, but I'd be very interesting to see what you get for your money.

browzingss · 23/03/2020 16:42

Thanks for sharing but this will probably be sold out soonSad

MyDcAreMarvel · 23/03/2020 16:43

Good idea but again assuming families come in two or four people only.

Dollywilde · 23/03/2020 16:43

@SchadenfreudePersonified sorry but “this happens to me a lot - I must have a more sympathetic face than I realise - there is often murder in my heart)” really made me laugh, I’m exactly the same! I think I need to adopt ‘murder in my heart Grin

I will post back on Wednesday once my box has arrived!

ArriettyJones · 23/03/2020 16:44

DH & I just had the same debate @JRUIN

We have ordered one for the weekend, experimentally, and will assess whether it’s fair value or profiteering.

I really hope that it ISN’T a case of Morrison’s taking advantage of the crisis.

JemimaPuddleCat · 23/03/2020 16:45

That looks great. Have ordered one for Thursday. Thank you OP.

81Byerley · 23/03/2020 16:46

@Coffeenofilter They send by DPD so you can get them anywhere (Not sure about if you live on an island!)

MysticMeghan · 23/03/2020 16:46

Bookmarking to see pics of what people get!

Marieo · 23/03/2020 16:48

@MyDcAreMarvel the idea is that they are quick to put together, having lots of different options would be too time consuming.

MyDcAreMarvel · 23/03/2020 16:51

@Marieo yes but I would need to buy 3 or 4.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 23/03/2020 16:52

Cheers, Carrot.

AbsentmindedWoman · 23/03/2020 16:53

Super idea! This will surely help to get basic groceries to a larger amount of people, it must be far quicker to assemble these boxes.

£35 for basic food to keep two adults going for a week is not expensive.

DoAsYouWouldBeMumBy · 23/03/2020 16:54

OP thank you so much!

Struggling to get anything delivered here, just ordered one. DaffodilDaffodilDaffodilDaffodil

GiBlues · 23/03/2020 16:54

These are fab, MIL lives and hour away and has depression and anxiety so wont go out (especially now) to get her shopping. We’ve been trying to find a way to get food to her but can’t get any delivery spots with any supermarkets, this is an absolute life saver thank you so much OP!
