Hoping m&s bring out a vegetarian option

DamnYouAutoCarrot · 31/03/2020 17:07

Apparently they did @browzingss, but they sold out. Keep your eye out, I'm sure they'll restock.

Autocarrot

I wanted to cry. One I can accept but twice is just too much I've just spent 30 mins on hold to Morrisons, to be told as it's a new service I have to send them an email which I've done.

I shall ask for a full refund and try M & S instead. I don't want to go shopping much because of my asthma but at least I can drive to Waitrose if essential.

caringcarer · 01/04/2020 03:36

Could make a stir fry with 1 onion, 2 peppers sliced up and 1 chicken breast chopped up or in strips, then add in a bit of the tomato pasta sauce. Could eat with rice.
You could also make cheese and ham toastie and tin of soup.
Sausages with mash and boiled carrots.
Mince, onion, grated carrot, rest of tomato sauce to make Bolognese with penne pasta.
Boiled potatoes bacon and baked beans.
Ham sandwich, carrot sticks and a sliced up pepper.
2 chicken breast and boiled potatoes and broccoli.
Cheese on toast. Twice.
An onion, any leftover carrotts, stalks from broccoli, couple of potatoes boiled blitzed up into home made soup with bread.

8 meals, maybe that is what they mean. I don't see how anyone could make many more, maybe a few extra slices of toast.

JFM27 · 01/04/2020 21:08

No pasta! my local Aldi had quite a bit today.,had most stuff that i could see..

yummymushypeas · 05/04/2020 13:51

Was really pleased with my food box. It felt that they'd put some thought into selecting items that could be pulled together to make basic meals. We had chicken fajitas with the chicken breasts and peppers and chilli with the beef and left over peppers, carrots and onions. Ordered another one which is coming tomorrow. There are some videos on YouTube which show what people are getting in the boxes. www.youtube.com/channel/UC_PWzcRRSQiaOXWWfpJkhuw

PenguinsOnParade · 05/04/2020 15:49

Ordered ours on Friday and it arrived today. Will do a good few meals for us but we didn't get any pasta sauces or butter or cheese like others have had. Even the last photo I saw in this thread definitely seems to have more than we do.

Our full list:

Loaf of Morrisons medium white bread
4 pack Andrex puppies loo roll
2 Morrisons kitchen roll
1kg carrots
1kg baby potatoes
250g pouch microwaveable long grain rice
500g Morrisons Savers penne pasta
1 cucumber
1kg onions
1 can Branston baked beans
1 small white cabbage
1 can Morrisons tomato soup
1 can Heinz vegetable soup
1 litre Cravendale milk
6 thick pork sausages (Morrisons Best)
6 rashers extra thick cut unsmoked back bacon
485g chicken breast fillets
525g 5% fat steak mince

KettleOn919 · 05/04/2020 15:58

I ordered one for my 92-year-old mum a couple of weeks ago. She's stuck at home and rapidly running out of supplies. Got a confirmation email, date, order number etc. It didn't turn up, and when I checked my bank I realised the money wasn't ever taken. The only way to contact Morrisons food boxes is by email, which I did, and got a ticket number. Four days later, I still haven't heard from them about what went wrong. Surely an email that says "Your order is confirmed" should mean just that?

PenguinsOnParade · 05/04/2020 16:18

Just tallied up what I received by adding the products online, the only difference being I couldn't get the Savers pasta and had to add their regular one which costs more and it came to £23.50. It's meant to be £30 worth, I could understand if it came to £29.50 or even £28 but that's a huge difference.

Defenbaker · 06/04/2020 13:12

My box is here. Packed well, arrived in allotted time slot. Contents list:

Chicken fillets
Ham
Bacon
Lean mince
6 Sausages
Cravendale milk
Large bag carrots
Large bag onions
Small bag new potatoes
Cabbage
3 small tins beans
1 tin veg soup
1 tin tomato soup
Pasta
White bread
Microwave rice
Butter
Cheese
Pasta sauce
4 Toilet rolls
2 Kitchen rolls

Surprised the tins were all Heinz brand - thought they would include their own cheaper tinned foods, so that's a nice surprise.

Packaging uses wool insulation, which I've added to my compost, along with the cardboard box. Haven't totted up prices but really pleased with my box, worth a few quid for peace of mind. Morrisons have impressed me. ☺

Defenbaker · 06/04/2020 13:15

Oh, I forgot, there was a cucumber as well! ☺

My only small criticism is they don't include any sweet items... some biscuits or chocolate might be a welcome addition. Still very happy though.

DaveGrohlsBeard · 06/04/2020 13:20

Our delivery just came. Our veggie box contained:

veggie burgers
veggie mince
veggie sausages
veggie cocktail sausages
1 litre milk
Butter
Cottage cheese
Fresh pasta sauce
Butter beans
Tomato soup
Vegetable soup
Microwave rice
Penne pasta
Half cabbage
Carrots
Onions
Potatoes
Loo roll
Kitchen roll
Medium sliced white bread.

I’m reasonably happy with it but would have preferred a block of cheese rather than cottage cheese (which had split and spilled everywhere and will have to be binned).

DaveGrohlsBeard · 06/04/2020 13:25

Oh! And I forgot the cucumber too! Grin

MysticMeghan · 06/04/2020 14:04

@PenguinsOnParade

You didn't get any cheese butter or pasta sauces but you got sauces, bacon, chicken breast AND mince. Most people seem to get sausages, bacon, chicken breast OR mince. Had that been me, I would have been happy, because most corner shops have things like pasta sauce, butter and cheese but they rarely have fresh meat except bacon. And even if you can't get out at all, most people seem to have neighbours or local volunteers that wouldn't mind popping those on a shopping list or going to the corner shop. Also you CAN actually make a meal of them without sauces. i.e. mince and tatties with some gravy, chicken wrapped in bacon or in a fajita or cold in a pasta salad. I would have been well please with chicken and mince because I just can't get those locally. The local butcher delivers but its like £25 minimum spend.

Coldilox · 06/04/2020 14:21

My mum got hers today, I ordered on Saturday. She’s very pleased with it.

3 chicken breasts
Lean minced beef
Bacon
Sausages
Pack of ham
Cheese
Butter
Milk
Bread
2 tins of soup
1 tin of beans
Jar of pasta sauce
Pack of pasta
Microwave rice
4 toilet rolls
2 kitchen rolls
Cucumber
Onions
Potatoes
Carrots

CaffiSaliMali · 06/04/2020 14:27

My veggie box was the same as @DaveGrohlsBeard except we got baked beans instead of butter beans. It came on Saturday. I'm very pleased with it. Never cooked cabbage before, my Dad suggested frying it in oil and butter - surprisingly tasty! Making bubble and squeak today which we've never had before.

I ordered my parents a veggie one which arrived today and was the same as mine except butter beans instead of baked beans and they had quorn meatballs instead of quorn chipolatas.

I've ordered my grandparents, who are in their 80s, a meat eaters one today as my Nain, who has RA has been going to Tesco every week and I want to help her go out less. My Taid is blind and so can't go in her stead. Am intrigued to see how the meat box differs from the veggie.

LockedInMadness · 07/04/2020 15:00

Morrisons have added 2 different boxes now. One with ready meals in and the other with meals to add to rice, potatoes etc, things like chicken tikka-

SwedishEdith · 07/04/2020 16:46

Got ours today. Got stewing steak instead of mince and some pitta bread and a cabbage. But, otherwise, seems like everyone else's. Well packed - lots of veg.

SwedishEdith · 07/04/2020 17:14

Added it up online with Morrisons, and got it to about £35.25 worth of food. Of course, couldn't take advantage of 3 for £9 on meat etc and prices may have gone up anyway but I certainly can't claim we were ripped off at all.

Humina · 08/04/2020 10:46

I've ordered one for my brother who is vulnerable but it just says pending. Is it unlikely to come, do you think? I had to order in my name as I couldn't see how to set up another name in the account. I wonder if it will fail because of the different address and name. Thanks.

Humina · 08/04/2020 11:42

Ignore, just had an email from dpd to say it's coming. Thank god for that, he was insistent he was going out.

HavenDilemma · 08/04/2020 11:43

M&S do them too and apparently £5 cheaper

ArriettyJones · 08/04/2020 11:44

The M&S ones seem quite heavy on cans and sweets and a bit light on actual cooking ingredients, though.

HavenDilemma · 08/04/2020 11:45

@playthestation You do get more than 1 neat it's just not in the photo. If you read the description it says what you get
