Acquitted but still impeached ... Trump thread 99

TheClaws · 12/02/2020 03:00

I’ll tell you a funny story. I’m a member of a very right-wing US politics online discussion group for kicks. The moderator of the group controls - and gets involved in - every discussion. (I should say the membership of this group is over 50K and the number of posts a day is generally 30 or so.) She’s also a typical Trumpian in that she reels off the standard “lamestream mass media” etc lines” and she mutes anyone who disagrees with her.

Anyway, I took her on eventually. She said that the Democratic candidates wanted to get rid of the Constitution. To this, I replied Trump flouts the Constitution on a regular basis. “What? Provide examples!” she replies. “Emoluments clause,” I replied. “That’s just one.”

GUYS. SHE HAD NOT HEARD OF THE EMOLUMENTS CLAUSE.

She then just spat something about she doesn’t read mass media lies and that’s why she didn’t know and muted me.

If I were Fauci I would be saying to my DH... OK... when I use my right hand to touch my forehad, THAT is when he is talking the most bullshit ever and I can't listen to his idiotic statements any more.

Lweji · 21/03/2020 14:14

This is the war that could get Trump easily reelected because it's a crisis and people would support him in getting through it.
Instead... it's not looking great.
Come November the death toll and the consequences will be obvious to all.

Mockerswithnoknockers · 21/03/2020 15:06

Fauci and Birks are heroes, doing what's right to save lives. They may well be biting their tongues to keep a place on the platform and we should not condemn them for that.

AcrossthePond55 · 21/03/2020 15:37

DH and I are taking bets on how long before Fauci gets 'disappeared' off the podium after that viral video.

Lweji I am a bit worried about him capitalizing and taking all the credit for 'curing' this epidemic to boost his reelection chances. I just have to keep telling myself that the only people buying his shit are the 'shoot someone on 5th Avenue' people.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 21/03/2020 15:59

Trump will lie as usual, claim that any reduction in cases and deaths is because of his actions (what actions? ah, fergetid) and say this over and over and over again.

The ones who have drunk the koolade will, as usual, take every word he says as true.

They (and he) will then blame Hillary, Obama, Democrats in general and of course the Fake News for the actual illness and deaths. Oh, and the Chinese, with a side order of Mexicans and Muslims and anyone else the Kooladed individual happens to have it in for: blacks, women, the French, Jews, hippy types, college kids, anyone who has ever tried to convince them of anything they didn't want to hear, you name it.

UYScuti · 21/03/2020 17:36

donny seems to be looking extra girthy/wide lately?
watching 'Emergency Press Conference' Trump is swaying and shuffling like a bored child

Mockerswithnoknockers · 21/03/2020 17:53

In no other country is this endless narrative playing about how clinicians should start wearing construction workers' masks because they are sort of good enough.

lionheart · 21/03/2020 18:21

In one of the clips shown where someone was talking about the cirus, he was taking micro-naps. Of course, his base say it's because he has been working so hard.

Roussette · 21/03/2020 19:18

Yep, Trumpy looks like a fat bloater, definitely put on weight. When's his medical happening?
I thought it was fixed for a month or so ago?

chomalungma · 21/03/2020 20:06

Do you think Fauci was moved so people can't see his face..

I am just waiting for him to completely lose in in the briefing and say it how it is.

UYScuti · 22/03/2020 14:00

True to type Trump the narcissist ignores and gaslights out of existence anything that does not suit his narrow personal interests.
He does not have the cognitive horsepower to compute outcomes over the long term, the best 'strategy' that he can come up with is 'I do not want there to be a pandemic so I will ignore it until it goes away'
it will not have occurred to him that all the blood from these deaths will now be on his hands

AcrossthePond55 · 22/03/2020 14:17

it will not have occurred to him that all the blood from these deaths will now be on his hands

He has so much (figurative) blood on his hands already from shady dealings that have financially ruined or made homeless so many people that this literal blood from CV deaths won't even bother him. After all, it's not 'the best people' who are dying, it's just 'you people' (so far).

We've stopped watching the daily 'news' briefings because it's just so much bullshit that you can't sort the wheat from the chaff. CNN and MSNBC reporters are doing a good job at 'digesting' it and reporting just the important points.

Rachel Maddow has it right. The news needs to just stop broadcasting him. I'd love nothing more than to have them tape the briefings, fact check them, then edit the lies and bombast out.

So far we're doing OK on this 'not legally enforced lockdown', but I don't know how long DS2 and DH will last. DH has never been able to sit still for a moment and has always been the type to run hither and yon on 'errands'. He's already chafing at the bit. DS2 is taking solace in gaming online with friends, but he's also feeling the fact that gyms are closed as he works out regularly. He has PTSD and I worry that this will ramp it up.

But as it stands DS2's totally NON ESSENTIAL employer has not yet informed them that work will shut down so I assume he'll be off to work.

Roussette · 22/03/2020 15:58

And here we have it.... Trump ignoring the warning signs...

AcrossthePond55 · 22/03/2020 17:38

You know it's not REAL until it affects him personally, Roussette. Or rather, affects his 'bottom line'. But now that HIS hotels, bars, golf clubs, etc are having to shut down, well, it's 'all hands to the pump'!!!

TheNorthWestPawsage · 22/03/2020 17:52

It's getting closer...

NEW: Sen. Rand Paul has tested positive for COVID-19, according to his Twitter account: “He is feeling fine and is in quarantine. He is asymptomatic and was tested out of an abundance of caution due to his extensive travel and events."

TheNorthWestPawsage · 22/03/2020 17:53

Oh and he had no problem getting a test although no symptoms... funny that.

Roussette · 22/03/2020 18:11

Across I heard his response to a journo who asked about hotels.. we all know what his priority is!

TheSparklyPussycat · 22/03/2020 18:44

What was his response, Roussette? Also, what time is it in England when Trump does his "briefing"?

I'm a lurker, keep up the good work.

Roussette · 22/03/2020 19:06

He said it's hurting him and it's hurting his hotels. Funny that, I thought he was POTUS and divested his businesses.
Also toying with an aid package for hotels of a few billion....

I catch the highlights of his briefings on Twitter if I can bear to watch them!
