How would you feel if you received this message from your boyfriend/partner?

I had mentioned that I wanted to start again with my hobby that I haven’t done for a long time (well before I met him)

I know it was sent with good intentions but I just don’t like it. Aibu?

How would it make you feel to get a text like that?

I don’t understand. What’s it about? What don’t you like?

HopefullyAnonymous · 25/01/2020 23:40

What?!

WatcherintheRye · 25/01/2020 23:41

I'd think he was drunk when he sent it! How long have you known him?

Ellisandra · 25/01/2020 23:41

I think it would be more helpful if you said why you don’t like it. The hobby’s pottery, yes? And he’s trying to be clever with the poetry?

flingaling · 25/01/2020 23:41

Yeah I don't know anyone who'd send a message like that. Ew.

RedDhalia · 25/01/2020 23:41

I've read this 5 times and can't make head nor fucking tale of it!!

Tunnocks34 · 25/01/2020 23:41

Well it sounds like someone has tried to make a poem based on the fact your hobbie is what? Pottery? Drawing?

I wouldn’t think anything of it. Maybe the person who sent it is trying to show you they too are creative

Doggodogington · 25/01/2020 23:42

It’s a bit messy but I think he’s being nice, why don’t you like it?

Fidgetwonkam · 25/01/2020 23:42

It’s about me making pottery! Sorry to be confusing

Ellisandra · 25/01/2020 23:42

I mean, the poetry is shit - but the support for your hobby is good.

BeBraveAndBeKind · 25/01/2020 23:42

I'd be quite happy that he was showing an interest. DH never comments on my hobbies but I have to hear chapter and verse about his.

What don't you like about it?

Ohyesiam · 25/01/2020 23:42

Do you dislike it because he was very drunk even he wrote it?

Pipandmum · 25/01/2020 23:43

Just a silly poem. Trying a bit to hard to be funny. I'd roll my eyes but not think much more about it.

DesLynamsMoustache · 25/01/2020 23:43

I mean it's drivel but I can't see why it would be offensive drivel.

Ellisandra · 25/01/2020 23:44

It was obviously pottery from the throw comment - obvious if you know about pottery, that is. He’s wheely trying too hard - it’d make me glaze over. He’s kiln the lines.

Why don’t you like it?

JustFinished · 25/01/2020 23:44

I’d wonder what the hell my husband was on about and ask him to stop talking in riddles. I guess we are past flirty texts 15 years in though... our messages are usually “get some milk on your way home please”.

TheMobileSiteMadeMeSignup · 25/01/2020 23:44

Has he mistaken pottery as to do with pot/weed and was high when he messaged?

Ohyesiam · 25/01/2020 23:44

It’s obviously about you making pottery. Don’t you like the shit poetry, or that he has an opinion, or what?

Fidgetwonkam · 25/01/2020 23:44

It was just a series of statements... I just find it a bit cringy!

And what if I don’t end up doing it? What then? He ‘Needs’ me to pot? Hmm

DeTwamps · 25/01/2020 23:44

Sounds like he was drunk?

Kisskiss · 25/01/2020 23:45

So he made a cheesy poem about your pottery hobby, it’s kinda cute and silly? Why are you annoyed

Modestandatinybitsexy · 25/01/2020 23:45

Just the kisses at the end of each live put me off.

The rest is kind of bizarre also

steff13 · 25/01/2020 23:46

It's a silly poem that he wrote to indicate he supports your choice to return to your hobby. It's not a great poem, but I wouldn't hold that against him. Most people aren't great poets, I imagine.

Fidgetwonkam · 25/01/2020 23:46

It’s not poetry! 😂

I think he has had a few drinks yes!

our messages are usually “get some milk on your way home please”.

Similar with DH and I. If he's really lucky there's a "are you coming upstairs soon?" text now and again! Grin
