To ask what the secret is behind the Maltesers box?

Poptasmagorical · 25/01/2020 19:36

Just that really: what is the box design all about? Why is there the circular hole? What are the perforated quarter circles for? Is it all some advanced alien technology or am I just too dense to understand a basic cardboard box?

@Jojo2wyatr I didn't want to upset anyone by sharing this news but they've already been in touch. I'm bathing in maltesers as I type and an oiled up bare-chested man is feeding me maltesers from a bowl made of maltesers. There were two men but I had to sack one for trying to sneak a malteser for himself.

@Poptasmagorical
Umm did you get the phone number of the guy you had to ( quite rightly ) sack

Asking for a friend Wink

AlCalavicci · 05/02/2020 22:17

@Jono
Over here it is stocked in all the big supermarkets including Asda so your Wal-Mart may well have it. It normaly on the aisle that's got the hot chocolate , cocoa powder Overseen etc

AlCalavicci · 05/02/2020 22:20

Overseen ???? Stupid auto correct Ovaltine

Jojo2wyatr · 06/02/2020 00:27

🤣🤣🤣 @Poptasmagorical
You are a clever one and we all appreciate that you didn't brag about how you were already bathing in Maltesers... You must be in chocolate- malt flavoured Heaven ...
I love that Maltesers even included a hunky feeder to go with your stash and a one off Maltesers bowl! I am so glad you sacked the Maltesers pinching guy..the nerve of that one!...but also keep an eye on the one that is still the feeder....he could be inhaling your Maltesers breath whilst you're over the moon from the effects of your good fortune.

@AlCalavicci... I did see a malt powder made by Kraft in my local market... wanted to check with you to see if you think it's the same as Horlicks or just a cheap knockoff .Kraft probably figures they can get away with selling a cheaper version since the average American has never tasted Horlicks or even malt powder, for that matter....but thank you for the Walmart suggestion...maybe I can buy it on walmart.comGrin

Please excuse any typos as my phone is very cheeky that way sometimes and will sneak in auto-corrections at the oddest times

AlCalavicci · 06/02/2020 23:08

@Jojo2wyatr , I clicked on your walmart link and this is about 5 or 6 items down the list , this is what you want .
www.walmart.com/ip/Horlicks-Original-Malted-Milk-8pk-x-300g-by-Horlicks/622178848 .

This is the uk version , the only difference I can see is with the uk one we just add hot water , the usa one you have to add milk .
There is a bit of a price difference too Shock

But LOOK you can get maltesers too ! you must buy some now .
I dont think they come with a hunky man tho Sad

AlCalavicci · 06/02/2020 23:09

Sod it , the link would help wouldn't it .

Jojo2wyatr · 07/02/2020 05:38

@Alcalavicci...thank you for all the bother you went through to research how I could get Maltesers and malted milk powder delivered straight away right to my very door... they ARE a bit pricey, but I'm sure worth every penny... especially the way they have been described on this Maltesers thread...Can't wait to start making my own with the malted milk powder and cocoa powder, too. Brilliant idea!
We haven't heard from @Poptasmagorical in a while....I guess she's still getting on splendidly with her load of Maltesers and her feeder....I hope her good fortune to be Maltesers' spokesperson hasn't gone to her head. I guess she just doesn't have time in between chomps to post anymore Grin

Jojo2wyatr · 07/02/2020 06:09

Hello all.sorry to interrupt all the snacking, but does anyone know why a post I made turned grey instead of pink like they usually do?

mathanxiety · 07/02/2020 06:57

I bought up all of the Maltesers when they suddenly appeared in my local Dollar Store about 18 months ago for, yes, $1.00 a pop. They never restocked [woe is me].

However, I have occasionally found them for between $2 and $4 in one of my local supermarkets too.

mathanxiety · 07/02/2020 06:59

You can order malted milk powder in the US from King Arthur Flour (pricey) or use cheapo Carnation that you can find in Target and probably some other run of the mill places.

Poptasmagorical · 07/02/2020 09:21

I'm sorry for leaving you wondering whether I had drowned in maltesers in my maltesers bath. The truth is that I was taking part in a huge advertising campaign where I was dressed in clothes made of maltesers, being fanned by a man dressed in maltesers with a fan made of maltesers, and unfortunately the studio lights made the chocolate melt and I was trapped with the maltesers-clad man until we licked our way out of the chocolate quagmire. Consequently I'm not convinced that the campaign will run, so I have no proof that this happened.

EngagedAgain · 07/02/2020 10:06

I don't eat malteser's now but used to leave box with hole intact to prevent me eating the whole lot at once, and to help keep them fresh. Anyway, my partner who can be a miserable sod at times, never got annoyed with the noise of my wrestling with the box, and admittedly I would rattle it around quite alot. Then I would say, "imagine how annoying this would be in a cinema"!

Jojo2wyatr · 07/02/2020 19:02

@mathanxiety,
What a great idea to look at Dollartree for Maltesers!!!! No one can fault you for hogging them all to yourself, hun....I understand they are quite addictive. Hopefully you aren't in Southern California so that my Dollartree may still have some in stock. Grin
Btw, don't buy canned goods at dollartree or if you do, inspect the contents thoroughly before consuming! My aunt in NJ bought a can of chili at Dollartree and when she opened the can, she found a RODENT had met his untimely death in said chili...I guess he went out happy, though🤢( I won't mention the brand name of the chili as I wouldn'twant to trigger a market downturn or recall in the chili market)..However this added ingredient didnt faze my aunt in the least...she just went back to the store and exchanged it for a new can of chili sans rodent🤮. She must really love chili....how did she know that the rodent hadn't been playing in the new can first?
@Poptasmagorical
I was hoping for something like you described to happen with your Maltesers good fortune....but, hun, this will not put an end to the campaign by any means...it may change the target audience to adults only, but it's too enticing a visual to sack the whole campaign. And remember the campaign included a lifetime supply of Maltesers, so unless you meet an untimely crossing over, your Maltesers are safe.
@EngagedAgain
Your partner sounds amazing. You've definitely found a keeper Smile
Please excuse all typos and errors..I've found that when I try to correct them or do a preview I somehow end up deleting everything I've written

Knittingnanny · 07/02/2020 19:06

I think the hole is to give you some chance of trying to slow down eating them, rather than tipping them into your mouth as if you haven’t had any chocolate for months.

mathanxiety · 07/02/2020 19:12

Miles and miles from SoCal Smile [shiver]

Your Maltesers are safe.

Heading to the kitchen now to give my four cans of black beans a good shake...

Jojo2wyatr · 07/02/2020 19:17

@math, I didn't mean to cause you more angst..now you'll have to change your nickname to @mathand cannedgoodsanxiety🤣 $tree has such amazing deals on brand name toothbrushes, also!

mathanxiety · 07/02/2020 19:32

Yes they do, and no rodents Grin

(Though I do give them a good rinse before using them after unpackaging.)

Jojo2wyatr · 07/02/2020 19:51

@math....good tip!

EngagedAgain · 07/02/2020 21:28

@Jojo, thanks, yes it's funny, he never gets wound up at that sort of thing whereas I do but then I only make a noise with packaging, he makes a noise eating crunchy food, especially pork scratchings, 😠😠😠

Jojo2wyatr · 07/02/2020 23:41

I would drive you insane @EngagedAgain I just love me a giant packet of those pork scratching( or as we call them over here pork cracklins) Your OH is definitely a keeper( imo) if
He likes pork scratching, too....crunch, crunch, crackle crackle...you're just going to have to invest in some earplugs, ENGAGED.

AlCalavicci · 08/02/2020 00:16

@Jojo, you are welcome , just dont blame me when you can no longer get into your fav summer dress Blush

Rodents in tins of food eh , I am surprised they did not try to charge you extra for the toy in your food .

@Poptasmagorical
I am glad your career as a Malty spokes person is going so well , I have a friend who is willing to help you out of your sticky situation

AlCalavicci · 08/02/2020 00:19

oh and all them eating pock scratching LEAVE THE ROOM NOW ! I dont mind the crunching at all , but the thought of eating skin with bits of hair still attached blurg

AlCalavicci · 08/02/2020 00:25

@Jojo2wyatr did you book mark your own post ? that sometimes makes mine go grey ( either that or mine are going grey with boredom and age )

Jojo2wyatr · 08/02/2020 00:37

@Alcalavicci, don't worry, Hun.... there will be no blame placed on you if I outgrow my crummy lovely wardrobe of charity shop pickings...
Hey, wait a moment...you mean to tell me that Maltesers have actual calories that could cause a person to outgrow their clothes???!!! I thought the way MNetters have described literally pouring down their throats that Maltesers were calorie free!!!! Well, I guess I'll just have to make that sacrifice for the world's economy stimulation and help keep the UK afloat post-bretix. Yes, I know that will probably trigger another award from the Queen but 'ya gotta do what ya gotta do'....calories be damnedGrin
