To ask what the secret is behind the Maltesers box?

Poptasmagorical · 25/01/2020 19:36

Just that really: what is the box design all about? Why is there the circular hole? What are the perforated quarter circles for? Is it all some advanced alien technology or am I just too dense to understand a basic cardboard box?

@AlCalavicci
I'm waiting for that special moment.... I feel it might be coming soon on since it's a rainy gloomy day here on the West Coast US. Yum yum.
Do I remember correctly that you experimented with the Maltesers hot drink mix before you hit on the Horlicks when you were trying to make your chocolate balls?Grin

AlCalavicci · 07/06/2021 21:26

@Sweetpea1532
I really hope it doent disappoint.
Any hot malted / chocolate drink is best drank in tbe evening when its cold and dark , but and this is a very important point, it can be drank at any time of the day or night in the warm or cold weather.

I have experimented with lots of malty goodness combos including dipping Maltesers in melted dark chocolate cocoa rush!

Sweetpea1532 · 07/06/2021 21:43

@AlCalavicci..you know ALL the Maltesers tricks! I'm not even going to fit in my MooMoo Mama Cass summer outfits if I follow your suggestions! I've already put on my covid 19 pounds!

Sweetpea1532 · 07/06/2021 22:12

@AlCalavicci

Yum, I've just finished my delicious cup of Maltesers hot chocolate..and it did not disappoint! Didn't even let my poor DH have a sip...I just waved the packet under his nose when I opened it and then did the same with the cup after I'd mixed it!😂

It was heavenly...I fear I might just have to plan that trip to the UK as I mentioned last year if I get addicted since the shop where I bought it is very expensive...$2./ 25g packet!

To ask what the secret is behind the Maltesers box?
AdaColeman · 07/06/2021 22:26

Forget hot Maltesers drink.
Instead, try floating them in glasses of Brandy Alexander. Eat them with a spoon when you've finished the drink. 🍹 🍹 🍹

AlCalavicci · 07/06/2021 22:49

@Sweetpea1532
I am so glad you enjoyed it and whilst it goes against all the ethos that we spoke about sharing Maltesers I do believe it might be an idea to get your DH a drink of it too I don't want to be named in the divorce proceedings !
But that said that those extortionate prices you might have to share one packet between you Sad

@AdaColeman
What! Brandy + Maltesers not only will I gain another half a dozen pounds i will also been too drunk to turn up to work but the way the last few days ago this seems like a very appealing ideaGrin

I am not keen on Bailey's it's too sweet for me but for those that do like it I bet Maltesers floated in that would be nice too.

We now need to set up the AMA Society
(The Alcohol and Maltesers Anonymous Society)

Ormally · 07/06/2021 23:12

There was a rumour (and I think it is only a rumour) that Maltesers are made so round without flat bits on the spheres by putting the honeycomb balls onto something like a big air hockey platform and spraying chocolate layers onto them from the sides as they are slightly airborne. The chocolate both gets them heavier and is cooled by the air so they come down onto the platform dry enough not to get flat patches.
I can imagine this so well. I wish it was true but there are enough vague descriptions of Malteser production that don't include anything of the sort.

AlCalavicci · 07/06/2021 23:39

@ormally
I so hope that this is true, imagine sounds of Maltesers all floating around at about the same level I would just dive headlong into the with my mouth open
It should be set up like one of those indoor skydiving tunnels where you float in mid air and people throw Malteser at /to you.
I would pay good money for this

Sweetpea1532 · 08/06/2021 01:16

@AdaColeman

Wow, just like @AlCalavicci has said, Maltesers and brandy sound amazing..and the way you describe how you spoon them from the bottom of the glass is devine!
As pp have said..there is just no end to the delightful ways to enjoy Maltesers yummy chocolatey deliciousness.

@Ormally..thanks for the primer on how Maltesers are made so they keep their perfect roundness...I suppose that is one of the secrets as to how they are so good.Grin

@AlCalavicci. I believe you are safe....I don't remember anywhere in my wedding vows where I am required to share any hot beverages with my DHHmmGrin

TaraR2020 · 08/06/2021 02:02

@MsChatterbox

The holes on the corner make it easier to access perferation and the hole in the middle makes it easier to lift up perferated section. Now wanting malteasers Grin
Yes, but it never works! The perforations never tear cleanly
TeddingtonTrashbag · 08/06/2021 05:10

I'm very sorry to those who are now pining for maltesers but unable to get out to buy any. I'll think of you whilst I eat mine
Grin

ifigoup · 08/06/2021 16:43

Confession: I actively prefer Malteaster Bunnies to classic Maltesers. But I still love classic Maltesers more than almost anything else.

AlCalavicci · 08/06/2021 17:14

@ifigoup Hmm I am not sure you are allowed o this thread .

😂😂😂😂 Awww go on then .

There is not enough malt bits in the bunnies for my liking Sad

Sweetpea1532 · 08/06/2021 18:37

But @AlCalavicci
What are these Maltesers bunnies that @ifigoup speaks of?
Am I going to have to scour the globe looking for another tasty bit of Maltesers?
They weren't even mentioned in my spokesperson agreement for the US splashout of Maltesers!Grin

JudgeJ · 08/06/2021 21:33

@MusicToMyEars800

I love the little chewy ones there should be more!
I've often wondered wy there's always a chewy one in every box.
Sweetpea1532 · 08/06/2021 22:07

@JudgeJ

The chewy one is the lucky Malteser to be savoured and bragged about to all your friends...try mentioning it ...they will be envious of your good fortune Grin

AlCalavicci · 09/06/2021 06:26

@sweetpea1532

The bunnies are about 3 inches off chocolatey goodness with little bits of malt throughout them loving carved into bunnie shaped figures ( a bit like the santa chocs you can get around Christmas)

AlCalavicci · 09/06/2021 06:29

@ifigoup can You post a link I can't do it on my phone

Sweetpea1532 · 09/06/2021 07:18

@AlCalavicci..that sounds amazing...I'll have a bunnie shaped bar of goodness, pleaseGrin that reminds me..I sure do miss those bunny ears emojis from Easter time.

ifigoup · 09/06/2021 10:47

Malteaster Bunny!

To ask what the secret is behind the Maltesers box?
Sweetpea1532 · 09/06/2021 16:17

@ifigoup

Thank you for the photo...looks yummy...I'd start with the ears..
Love the name ,too MaltEasterSmile

ifigoup · 09/06/2021 16:30

The inside is soft with crunchy bits, rather than crunchy all through, but it has thick chocolate and the essential malty flavour.

Sweetpea1532 · 10/06/2021 02:14

Sounds amazing... I'd like an entire carton , please!

Sweetpea1532 · 10/06/2021 16:46

@AlCalavicci
You're the best! I knew I could count on you to magic up a special Maltesers goodie selection Grin
I'll have to just be content with dreaming about it though since it is currently unavailable and isn't expected to be in stock anytime soon ConfusedHmmShock
Don't they know SP is over here pining away for it!☹
