I am waiting with interest to find out what happens next, following on from this afternoon's talks at Sandringham.

Poor old Queen. She can't have finished the leftover turkey yet and here she is, embroiled in another crisis.

My son and Archie are the same generational mixed raced i.e one parent if mixed race and one white parent.

I have to say as a whole the UK is not racist, and in our neck of the weeds not one single racist thing has been said about my son. That's just my personal account of life in a mixed race relationship and having a child of mixed race heritage.

I think the fact that has tumbled the UK to be labelled a racist country will be the straw that breaks the camel's back on MM ever being accepted. The general population as a whole know they are not racist. Yes there are quite frankly abhorrent pockets of it, but that's everywhere. It's a pocket not the whole snooker table!

These same ridiculous claims get rolled out time and time again. "Stalked him"? The exact same thing was said of "nation's sweetheart" Kate. Apparently she had posters of William on her bedroom wall, and changed her uni application when it was announced William was going to St Andrews. Lots of people jumped on that bandwagon too, but now believe Kate can do no wrong. Maybe, just maybe, as a nation we (the press) are suspicious of women coming into the RF and they all get treated appallingly until they somehow "prove" themselves. What a shit situation over a family very very few of us actually know beyond the public exterior.

@stormsurfer

It doesn't work like that.

The first in line is the oldest child of the monarch (now) although that is a recent development.

So Prince Charles is first in line to the throne and his children are next. As soon as Prince William was born he became second in line to the throne.

Once he had children, they took the next places.

Supposedly their team has "reached out" to various US networks offering a "no holds barred" interview as they're determined not to be silenced any longer. How toe curlingly awful that would be.

MrsBrentford · 13/01/2020 14:18

Yes the men who marry in seem to get a much easier ride.

Mike Tindall has been done twice for drink driving but he doesn’t get half the shit MM does.

This. ⏫

queenofarles · 13/01/2020 14:19

MrsBrentford I get the "no where are you originally from all the time" too

I’ve read things that have been classified as raciest towards Meghan like saying she uses hair treatment, not mentioning that so many white people use hair treatments too, or when people describe her hairstyles messy , well sienna Miller , Alexa Chung and Kate Moss are always described as having messy hair, 🤷🏼‍♀️

I don’t think many Uk people follow US news, now the racist things that were said and printed about Michelle Obama! Some things I won’t even mention on here because they are truly terrible, " arms built I like a Man" , "she shouldn’t give dieting advices seeing how big she is," not as classy as Laura Bush "etc etc .
I haven’t seen anyone on US TV act outraged about such things. So really the US should keep quiet and fix their problems before pointing out to others.

MummyOfBoyAndGirl · 13/01/2020 14:20

Part of me wishes I was not so over/invested in this!

YikesFeelSoStressed · 13/01/2020 14:20

Funny tweet I read earlier....

If anyone has a right to be mad at Harry and Meghan it's the people of Sussex, who have been left leaderless without their Duke and who are now defenseless against incursions from Hampshire and Kent.

😂

TheMustressMhor · 13/01/2020 14:21

@stormsurfer

The Phillips children and their descendants are still in line for the throne, despite not being HRHs.

OP posts:
stormsurfer · 13/01/2020 14:22

No, sorry, I know. I really was just pondering out loud. I just starting thinking when someone said Zara is not a princess or an HRH... and I thought to myself but she was born before William...

brassbrass · 13/01/2020 14:24

Don't forget David Armstrong Jones was liked by the family even though he had 3 other women on the go and was in a threesome with another couple with whom he fathered an illegitimate daughter two months after his marriage to Margaret. Also his affairs whilst married to Margaret but as soon as her affairs were discovered she was branded a whore. Weird fucked up double standards as far as women are concerned and the queen is the biggest culprit!!

TheMustressMhor · 13/01/2020 14:24

Sorry stormsurfer, you've lost me a bit there.

She’s burn all her bridges, hadn’t she.

I wonder if Harry will do the same.

MurrayTheMonk · 13/01/2020 14:25

If H and M even allow Canada to pay for their security they are jokers imo. Allow a country that you have chosen to move to to pay for the privilege of having you there. How far up your own arse can you be really? Plus they are with 35 million quid between them-they can afford their own security surely??

LizzieSiddal · 13/01/2020 14:25

Bloody hell the vitriol against MM in this thread is just awful.

I say good luck to them both. The press have been despicable to MM and after what they did to his mother and to his career (the press leaked that he was fighting in Afghanistan, so he had to immediately leave), it’s no wonder Harry hates the press. He told people after he came out the army that he didn’t want to stay in the UK but agreed to stay on because the Queen and DOE wanted to step back. If the uk press hadn’t been so nasty and spiteful and printed utter lies- Harry may have wanted to stay. Yes the press were nasty to KM and Fergie, but there’s no way H would put up with it happening to his wife.

TheMustressMhor · 13/01/2020 14:25

David Armstrong-Jones is Princess Margaret's son.

Her husband was Tony.

But you're right. The RF seemed to be quite keen on him, despite his shabby treatment of Princess M.

OP posts:
MrsBrentford · 13/01/2020 14:27

Apparently he was a bit of a liability in Afghan.

TheMustressMhor · 13/01/2020 14:27

@LizzieSiddal

Can you quote some of the vitriol against MM which you can see on this thread, because I cannot see it.

If it were there I would certainly report it.

It was not the British press that leaked that.

ZenNudist · 13/01/2020 14:28

I think Mr and Mes Markle have stuffed up bigtime. This should have been dealt with in private not aired all over the media in an us v them battle. They would have had sympathy but now I detest them. I resent this demands for paid security. There are lots of other rich individuals who pay their own. Plus they could live off their personal fortune but these talks smack of holding the RF to ransom, pay them off or they will make an even bigger mockery of the royal name.

I think its time to accept that these people do not represent us. An elected figure would be far better.

DuchessofWoke · 13/01/2020 14:28

I wonder if we’ll know anything by the end of today. Apparently it won’t go on beyond the Queen’s 5pm tea-time. I guess it could take many days.

PlacidPenelope · 13/01/2020 14:29

On the subject of the 'tell-all interview', the Duke of Wellington's famous mantra comes to mind publish and be damned, call their bluff, after the initial hoo-ha it seems the case that those who tell-all come out looking far worse than those they 'tell' on. Backlash and criticism usually goes nuclear and if you think you are suffering from press intrusion and negative coverage now, all bets will be off after any tell all interview and it will cut no ice to cry "press intrusion, just want to be private, wah, wah, wah".

It's a silly threat and should be dismissed as such.
