I am waiting with interest to find out what happens next, following on from this afternoon's talks at Sandringham.

Poor old Queen. She can't have finished the leftover turkey yet and here she is, embroiled in another crisis.

When carrying out official duties for the Palace - UK will pay

I think, and I hope I am right, that Harry and Meghan will keep their heads down and be remarkably quiet during the transition period, I suspect the backlash has taken them by surprise and they will both want it to die down so when they officially quit and launch their 'brand' it will be in a period of calm.

I hope she discredits herself further in some way and therefore becomes a laughing stock

Becomes? She has already achieved that objective but will no doubt carry on digging.

What I suspect happened -

William had an affair which caused a rift between Harry and William.
The rift was obvious in public so this was spun as being about a fall out between Meghan and Kate.
Meghan got a lot of shit in the press for a long time. She and Harry got upset about it. Harry had already said he wanted to leave the RF business but had been persuaded to stay by the Queen. But this was the final straw and him and Meghan decided they were leaving.

Harry contacted charles to talk about how this could be done. Charles said to submit a written plan. This is impossible as it does depend on the views of Charles, the Queen and others. So he goes to the Queen who bats him back to Charles.
While in Canada Meghan and Harry talk about this and think we are just being stone walled and go for the nuclear option of simply announcing it.

The Queen and others are upset because Harry has put what he wants before The Crown. Rumours are spread by the Sussexes about doing tell all interviews on US TV. The meeting today not much was decided and a bland statement was put out.

The truth is Harry and Meghan hold all the cards now. They don't care what the British public think, why should they. They just want to leave with a settlement they are happy with. We don't know what kind of settlement they are looking for. But the threat of a US TV interview means they have more power to get what they want in the negotiation.

I'm still reeling that after that beautiful wedding, getting Frogmore and a truckload of designer clothes and generous maternity leave, Meghan decided she hated the whole deal.

Frankly I’d have said ‘don’t let the door hit you on the way out’. There titles. HRH, security & funding should be withdrawn. Let them sink or swim.

Then if something bad happened the Royal family would be blamed.

Yes, I can't help thinking that Harry will find that the life he has led so far & the "press intrusion" hasn't really been that bad after all!

I know that there is often a holiday pic or something, but on the whole it has seemed to me that unless on an engagement, they're pretty much left alone.

Harry is leaving everything that he has held dear in his fragile world. Also, a wonderful set up, wonderful job, wonderful home, love and lifestyle.

He will look back at his amazing life in London, surrounded by family and friends and position. People who do what M does and get partners in a position that she has, doing what she says, basically, immediately start to disrespect and bully and dislike them.

What/who you fell in love with/the idea of what you fell in love with no longer exists.

Poor, poor Harry. The doubts will start creeping in tonight, I would imagine.

Obviously the fairy tale wedding ( it really was) and everything else wasn't enough.
Maybe a move to Canada will have much more to give them both.

As the Queen is the boss of them all does she have to use their titles?

@derxa It has been well documented that Harry, William and Kate was friends. Yes in that circumstance I would be unhappy that William had had an affair. And add to that that an affair broke up their parents marriage.
The reasons for moving will be more complex, but that will be part of it,

I think the same. Without the protection of BP press office I think they'll suffer much more intrusion from the press. I hate to mention it but that is exactly what happened to his mother wasn't it? Without professional security and proper handling of the press a tragedy occurred.

Really you expect someone to stay in a country and role they are unhappy with just because she had a fairytale wedding?

With a bit of luck Harry will fuck off back to Vancouver on Friday and that’ll be the last we see or hear of them for a long time.
