I am waiting with interest to find out what happens next, following on from this afternoon's talks at Sandringham.

Poor old Queen. She can't have finished the leftover turkey yet and here she is, embroiled in another crisis.

Using capitals to shout kirinm is rude; you could have said that the Home Sec was male (even though she is not). The identity of the Home Secretary is freely available.

Lots of the world believes in the death penalty....and still use it. In some instances, I can't say they are wrong.

MissEliza · 13/01/2020 17:43

I noticed the statement referred to them as Harry and Meghan, not the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

diddl · 13/01/2020 17:43

"benefits financially from sponsorship deals - due to her RF connections?"

Yes she does, but for example she gets money from LandRover for I guess driving one & appearing at events.

But there's no "Royal Zara" merchandise is there?

Although there is a jewellery range I think!

Parker231 · 13/01/2020 17:43

Peter Philips has also benefited from sponsorship.

LaurieMarlow · 13/01/2020 17:43

Priti Patel also thought the UK should threaten the Irish with starvation to get their way in brexit talks.

Nice.

scaryteacher · 13/01/2020 17:43

bird That he is being allowed to do this and isn't losing his HRH or Dukedom.

Chienloup · 13/01/2020 17:44

Well, the Queen has issued a very supportive and gracious statement. If those directly affected by this can act with such grace let's hope the public and the media can follow her example. It's time for the DM and The Times to stop stirring the pot.

birdchestbeautiful · 13/01/2020 17:44

Alsohuman - I agree, anyone who agrees with the death penalty is a no for me

Puzzledandpissedoff · 13/01/2020 17:44

Indeed

Anyway it'll be interesting to see what appears on their website/Instagram, or more likely what their "friends" are authorised to say on their behalf

And yes, Priti Patel has said some absolutely horrendous things. I have no time for her.

BillieEilish · 13/01/2020 17:44

OP I think the title of your thread is both witty and apt!

I have not read the papers, just this thread (am abroad) it is the best reporting I think!

OVienna and MrsBrentford great posts.

crispysausagerolls · 13/01/2020 17:50

Oooooooooh!

astralweaks · 13/01/2020 17:51

*I was that person. You quoted me. I was correcting the person who used the wrong sex not the person who used the correct one. Why would I? 🤷‍♀️

I know/realise/fully appreciate what you were doing.

#crosspurposes 🙄

derxa · 13/01/2020 17:51

Alsohuman - I agree, anyone who agrees with the death penalty is a no for me I don't agree with the death penalty. I don't like Priti Patel. However I do admire her achievements in life and the fact that she is unashamedly ambitious.

Chienloup · 13/01/2020 17:51

The statement refers to both Harry and Meghan and The Sussexes.
The Queen is during a decorous balance between her family and The Royal Family.

Chienloup · 13/01/2020 17:52

*striking, not during!

astralweaks · 13/01/2020 17:52

Sometimes I think I am in a parallel universe.

Chienloup · 13/01/2020 17:53

The Queen's statement.
Today my family had very constructive discussions on the future of my grandson and his family.

My family and I are entirely supportive of Harry and Meghan’s desire to create a new life as a young family. Although we would have preferred them to remain full-time working Members of the Royal Family, we respect and understand their wish to live a more independent life as a family while remaining a valued part of my family.

Harry and Meghan have made clear that they do not want to be reliant on public funds in their new lives.

It has therefore been agreed that there will be a period of transition in which the Sussexes will spend time in Canada and the UK.

These are complex matters for my family to resolve, and there is some more work to be done, but I have asked for final decisions to be reached in the coming days.

NumbersStation · 13/01/2020 17:54

@Mummyoflittledragon - @Fraggot put up a linky at 1643 if it helps? Smile

The statement? I hope the anti-chuckle brothers are happy now. All this could and should have been sorted privately. But that wouldn’t have gifted them the publicity for their new venture though would it?

Not for them the quiet retreat for a private life away from prying eyes which would have been accepted by nearly everyone.

For two people who supposedly hate the media the pair of them are proving quite adept at playing the mega hor role no?

They deserve to be booed at their next appearance lie the panto villains they are.

hopeishere · 13/01/2020 17:56

I think it's a good statement. It basically says we're happy for them to do this and the subtext is "so why the need to launch a website and do your own statement you numpties" it was going to be sorted but we're not jumping to your timeline so wind your necks in.

MrsBrentford · 13/01/2020 17:56

She should be booed.

Ponoka7 · 13/01/2020 17:57

@lilmishap

"Allegedly her mum was seen leaving Oprahs house several times recently."

She's been seen leaving Oprahs house since 2018. Oprah went to the wedding and joined up with Harry on a MH project.

WendyMoiraAngelaDarling · 13/01/2020 17:57

I know how you feel. Thanks

MrsBrentford · 13/01/2020 17:57
