I am waiting with interest to find out what happens next, following on from this afternoon's talks at Sandringham.

Poor old Queen. She can't have finished the leftover turkey yet and here she is, embroiled in another crisis.

I do agree with you on that Irma but equally I don't think the palace were in the dark about it. I think they knew.

crispysausagerolls · 13/01/2020 15:53

@MrsBrentford

I was pathetically gleeful about her sweat patches in the brown outfit.

Harry arrived before Noon.

William arrived 15 mins before kickoff, thereby avoiding the lunch! Shock

IrmaFayLear · 13/01/2020 15:55

Some years ago I stepped out in a new brown lambswool jumper, long brown skirt and tan boots. I felt quite the thing. My rather blunt friend remarked, "Why are you dressed as a turd?"

MrsBrentford · 13/01/2020 15:56

@crispysausagerolls

Me too then I realised how horrible that is Blush

The press published those photos deliberately, she must have felt mortified.

There were some VERY racist remarks on twitter about it too, which were awful.

My dad is a man of routine. It could be the end of the world and he would still need his dinner at midday and his tea at 4.30. Every single day. He is 98.
It's reports like these which makes me think the Royals and the Queen are the same : hardly any flexibility and a set routine when at home ( or whatever house or palace they are living at that week ) a certain way of doing things. There may be a family rift etc etc but I'm having my tea at five ( so there! ) I bet her day to day routines are mostly the same , or in the same order.

It could have been this rigid lifestyle that may baffle people or just want to make you scream. You either adapt or you just kick against it. They will never change though.

I'd love to be a fly on the wall today. I can imagine it'll be tough.

How do Canadian's feel about this new deal over the security I wonder? I can imagine a few are not happy about it.

I think it is incredibly cowardly of Meghan to leave this to Harry when she is fifty per cent of the decision

I thought that too at first. However it will be incredibly difficult for MM to be part of this meeting via conference call. She won't have PH by her side holding her hand, and they won't be able to confer or read each other's facial expressions or give knowing glances. It might actually be a good thing to have them separated.

I agree press must have published them
On purpose!!

Mental. Utterly mental

Yes. Wasn’t my finest moment! I’m a horrifically sweaty person myself so I know how horrible it is too! I just find her so bloody smug

MrsBrentford · 13/01/2020 15:59

@joyfullittlehippo

I get that.

fallen121 · 13/01/2020 16:00

@IrmaFayLear there was something in the newspapers yesterday (might have been a tabloid, might not have been true) about Harry being handed a whole wodge of paperwork to do with tax liabilities.

Apparently if you stay any longer than 186 days in Canada you have to pay tax. In the UK it's 90 days. Don't think this has to be consecutive either, it's cumulative over the year. So this idea of "dividing their time" between the UK and Canada would probably result in double tax at the higher rate, unless they can somehow spend exactly 185 days in Canada, 89 days in the UK and the remaining part of the year somewhere that doesn't have income tax.

So...you want to be financially independent, you have never earnt your own living before and yet it hasn't occurred to you that that the living arrangement you're proposing isn't exactly financially sensible from a tax point of view.

This just underlines to me that having lived a life where they did what they wanted when they wanted on a whim with no thought as to the financial consequences (free flights free accommodation, free holidays, free security) they still haven't woken up to the fact that they are going to have to pay their way in the real world. I can't see the RF or Justin Trudeau picking up their tax bill, can you?

PlacidPenelope · 13/01/2020 16:00

So provide a proposal and set a meeting date to discuss it, hardly difficult is it? No-one said no to a meeting they said they wanted more information to think about it and to discuss it properly.

I disagree that Harry doesn't know where the money comes from otherwise how would they have been able to detail them on the Instragram account? Harry and Meghan have staff within the Royal machine who would have these facts and figures at their fingertips.

crispysausagerolls · 13/01/2020 16:03

If he wanted her there she’d be there

I don’t think she would

WendyMoiraAngelaDarling · 13/01/2020 16:05

Good grief. Imagine someone correcting someone who knew that. Time to bow out

A previous poster, not YOU, referred to the Home Secretary as HE in capitals. The poster using HE was correcting a poster who referred to her as she. You've got the wrong end of the stick so yes...byeeeeee!" 👋

MrsBrentford · 13/01/2020 16:05

So the stuff about her hair?

Is it the insinuation that she has it treated to straighten it as it’s a natural Afro and that’s somehow not ok?

mrscampbellblackagain · 13/01/2020 16:07

I imagine it was never really an option for Meghan to be there from the RF's perspective. Especially once rumours of tell all interviews are being spread by Tom Bradby. Not sure he is a great asset to M&H.

brassbrass · 13/01/2020 16:07

So provide a proposal and set a meeting date to discuss it, hardly difficult is it?

Voila it's happening now isn't it? Result🤣

Puzzledandpissedoff · 13/01/2020 16:08

it behoves anyone - especially the Queen and by association the taxpayer - to have a proper look at things as opposed to saying yes straightaway

No doubt, but does anyone imagine the Queen would give the taxpayer a second's thought if their interests and that of the monarchy conflict? Given the opacity of royal finances it's not even as if anyone would ever know what was done anyway

Never forget this is a woman who was prepared to dip into funds for the disadvantaged in order to heat her palaces: www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-11403544

Fraggot · 13/01/2020 16:08

Shock I loved the brown skirt and shoes.

SunsetBoulevard3 · 13/01/2020 16:10

I imagine she left so quickly to get back to Archie. WhatI don’t understand is why she came back at all! To get clean clothes?!!
I doubt she will set foot in the UK again this year.

MrsBrentford · 13/01/2020 16:11

@Fraggot I loved the shoes!
