I am waiting with interest to find out what happens next, following on from this afternoon's talks at Sandringham.

Poor old Queen. She can't have finished the leftover turkey yet and here she is, embroiled in another crisis.

Brassbass raises an important point:

Will we ever know where the money goes and on whom? Remember the hoohah over the Kents paying nominal rent at Kensington Palace? Liz was subsidising it all. How would we ever know if it was coming out of her purse or ours? If she pays out of her purse surely she just tops herself up with our contributions elsewhere

I think the royal finances are so complex that nobody will ever know out of which purse any of the money comes.

Having watched the crown I really hope someone finally sticks it to them. They are hypocrites and parasites the lot of them.

Erm, you're aware that that The Crown isn't a documentary?

PlacidPenelope · 13/01/2020 15:25

Because instead of the talk they are having today they were told by PC to provide costings. Why not have a family meeting immediately?!

Not at all unreasonable to be expected to provide details of how you want or expect your new role to be funded when you are the one requesting it.

Difficult to have a family meeting when you are in Canada and the rest of the family with whom the meeting should be held are in the UK.

Why not have submitted proper plans prior to going to Canada with a meeting date set on your return to discuss the options and agree on a way forward that suited everyone - that would have been the adult, reasonable thing to do by the pair of them but it would have necessitated compromise on both sides but imo Harry and Meghan just wanted to bounce the RF into agreeing to all their demands and doing exactly what they wanted and were not prepared to compromise at all which shows just how arrogant the pair of them are, the fact it has all spectacularly backfired is just reward for their actions.

brassbrass · 13/01/2020 15:27

dobby the information is out there. To say the family were blindsided is histrionic. This was not a surprise. They're just pissed off their hand is being forced when they are used to calling the shots.

SirVixofVixHall · 13/01/2020 15:27

I wonder how talks are going. I think it is incredibly cowardly of Meghan to leave this to Harry when she is fifty per cent of the decision.

LaurieMarlow · 13/01/2020 15:28

Very true.

And that suits them very well.

userxx · 13/01/2020 15:29

@SirVixofVixHall Only 50% ? I'm thinking more 99%

Just 50%? Grin

I don’t think PW is a huge fan of MM, so wil probably be glad not to be in the same room as her.

astralweaks · 13/01/2020 15:30

A Like button would be great and save the laborious copying etc! The Mike Tindall one is worthy of Clive James.

brassbrass · 13/01/2020 15:31

Costings could never be done by Harry without input from the wider machine. It's a tactic, stonewalling.

IrmaFayLear · 13/01/2020 15:31

I think it would have looked worse if she was there: it would seem as if Harry were being led by the nose and not capable of dealing with his own family. As it is all Harry has to say is No, no, no until the RF roll over and agree to everything. As said by a pp, he and Meghan hold all the cards.

SirVixofVixHall · 13/01/2020 15:31

Even at the wedding, as the bride approached solo, Prince William’s face was a picture. Think he had an arched eyebrow moment.

ajandjjmum · 13/01/2020 15:32

I should imagine that every comment or decision will have Harry running out of the room to phone Megs, before he is able to agree or otherwise.

Harpingon · 13/01/2020 15:33

If I had a charity I wouldn't want these two begrudgingly showing up being bl**dy miserable. They dislike our country and the people in it, I hope they do leave.

fallen121 · 13/01/2020 15:33

@SunsetBoulevard3 Thank you

Can't see Harry ever thinking up something like this on his own. This shouts Meghan to me rather than Harry.

Lots of people saying you can't be "part Royal" and the reason is that RF have traditionally kept silent on personal matters. That what surprised me about the William and Harry denying "bullying" today. We're seeing a whole new era of RF actually responding to things. Previously I don't think they would have made such a statement.

There is the old saying "Loose lips sinks ships" and if this Oprah "tell-all" interview actually goes ahead it might result in 5 minutes of fame for H&M but ultimately it might sink them. Because who would want to be friends with people who might run to the media with news of your latest indiscretion in return for a quick buck? How could you ever trust them?

This is almost a cringeworthy as people who make money out of writing biographies about their deprived childhoods

MissEliza · 13/01/2020 15:34

Who originally posted about Mike Tindall? That's hilarious.
Excellent point about Trudeau. I can't fathom how a man who 'blacked up' continues to hold elected office. Then we have Harry and his Natzi uniform.

TheMustressMhor · 13/01/2020 15:34

Harpington I think you will get your wish.

Harry and Meghan seem to live in Canada already.

Well, their dogs and child do......

crispysausagerolls · 13/01/2020 15:35

Amazing that the UK is a racist country and they are moving to Canada, where the prime minister, and this is a quote, “cannot say how many times he wore blackface”.

@MrsBrentford

I often ask people (of any colour) where they are originally from. I went to an international boarding school and find it an extremely interesting topic of conversation. Mortified to think people consider this to be racist!!!!

God I would love to be a fly on the wall at these talks!!!!

brassbrass · 13/01/2020 15:35

Penelope there is no evidence that H&M didn't do those things. There are reports that requests for meetings were turned down for costings and redirection back to PC. Funny how everyone is available to meet today though 🤣

MrsBrentford · 13/01/2020 15:35

It was me 🙋‍♀️Blush

crispysausagerolls · 13/01/2020 15:36

@MissEliza

Cross post!

IrmaFayLear · 13/01/2020 15:36

Why is it stonewalling?

If one of my dcs asks for something which is unacceptable to me I might say, "I'll need to know more about that," or "Those jeans are too expensive, but if we put X on ebay..." (a common one!). I wouldn't say No (much) and I certainly wouldn't say Yes to anything.

Such as H&M's demands that it behoves anyone - especially the Queen and by association the taxpayer - to have a proper look at things as opposed to saying yes straightaway.

MrsBrentford · 13/01/2020 15:37

@crispysausagerolls

I think it’s fine to ask once, but to question the given answer is suggesting you don’t look like you belong here.

You may as well ask “why are you brown” Envy
