...Scene One?

I think we probably do need a third thread.

Pick your nose, no.

But necessary to paw at your husband at every single opportunity and caress your bump non stop; even before it existed? Necessary to make puppy dog eyes?

Funny how Kate manages to be friendly and dignified without overdoing it, and isn’t a paid actress.

BovaryX · 13/01/2020 10:29

It is perfectly sensible that Meghan and Harry want to go to Canada away from the vitriol of the press and some of the public

I am beginning to think that the hostility which has alienated both PH and MM was more immediate. The RF is a hierarchical institution. If jealousy and rivalry created a hostile environment for a new bride, that reflects extremely badly on other members of the RF. It explains alot of what has happened. Why wasn't this robustly dealt with before it escalated?

GlitchStitch · 13/01/2020 10:29

Please can you get this into your head- you are right that you not liking MM does not make you racist. But no-one is accusing you of that.

There have been plenty of threads where those who dislike Meghan have been told directly that it is because they are racist and they don't even know it. It's possible that some people just find her a pain in the arse.

OxfordCat · 13/01/2020 10:29

@ssd lol! I agree! It's incredible how many experts there are on MN, inside knowledge, friends of the royals and all sorts, and even one poster who's apparently been 'hounded' by the press their whole life and handled it sooo much better than Meghan has. GrinGrin

Also there's a disproportionately high number of BAME posters with expertise on racism, and who 'know' that Britain is not a racist country. Amazing.

mrscampbellblackagain · 13/01/2020 10:29

Kate was friendly with Meghan at Wimbledon last year wasn't she?

Or again was this them both acting?

ajandjjmum · 13/01/2020 10:30

I mean acting in the way that she says 'H', and then simperingly covers her mouth with her hand, and like a 15 year old girl giggles 'that's what I call him'.

Like the way she gazes adoringly at him. It's just beyond normal behaviour, nomatter how much you love someone.

And it's nothing to do with race. I just find it very irritating.

karencantobe · 13/01/2020 10:30

Caress your bump? Lots of pregnant women do this. Make puppy dog eyes? So you hate Princess Diana as well then? Paw at Harry? Actually I love my DP and we often do touch each other in public. Hold hands, touch each other on the arm, etc.
No Meghan is not Kate. They are different personalities. So what.

karencantobe · 13/01/2020 10:31

And there is a lot of racism aimed at Meghan.

TheMustressMhor · 13/01/2020 10:32

Lots of pregnant women do not cradle their bumps.

I cannot think of anyone who does it, other than MM.

OP posts:
karencantobe · 13/01/2020 10:33

@BovaryX None of us know what happened. What we do know is that when outsiders joined the RF in the past like Diana, the RF gave no support in how to deal with becoming a member of the RF. It was a very sink or swim environment.

crispysausagerolls · 13/01/2020 10:34

I’m
Extremely maternal and enjoy a bump caress as much as the next person but it’s in EVERY PHOTO AND VIDEO!! It’s CONSTANT!! Even in Australia when there was no fucking bump there. It’s utterly bizarre.

It’s not appropriate to do PDA when working.

karencantobe · 13/01/2020 10:35

@TheMustressMhor Oh look the Daily Mail talking approvingly about someone semi-famous cradling her pregnant bump.

www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-7671885/Pregnant-Jesinta-Franklin-cradles-baby-bump-activewear-completes-home-workout.html

astralweaks · 13/01/2020 10:36

Yes it seems her sister was right all along. People chose not to see then what was very clear: that other people do not go to such lengths if everything is normal nor does the “Royal” bride to be treat every member of her family - bar one - in the way that she did. And all this with the eyes of the world watching. Her behaviour wasn’t normal then and it is not normal now.

Poor Harry. He is left standing and, as others have said, he has been played big time.

karencantobe · 13/01/2020 10:36

Yet more photos of another celebrity cradling her pregnant bump.
metro.co.uk/2019/03/31/miranda-kerr-proudly-cradles-baby-bump-hours-announcing-pregnancy-9071996/

It is perfectly normal to do so. Of course you can collect every single photo of Meghan doing the same, post it in tabloids, and make out she is acting strangely.

WendyMoiraAngelaDarling · 13/01/2020 10:37

But no-one is accusing you of that. What people are saying is the coverage in the PRESS has been racist

LOADS of people are accusing anyone who criticises M as being racist. Right here on MN actually.

SunsetBoulevard3 · 13/01/2020 10:38

Something must have happened after Wimbledon because they stopped communicating via WhatsApp six months ago according to the press. If that’s true! I thought M looked miserable at the Polo with Archie. She seemed to be standing on her own clutching him . No real interaction between her and Kate and her family which I thought was strange at the time. She didn’t seem interested in Kate’s children at all.

crispysausagerolls · 13/01/2020 10:39

@OxfordCat

I know people lie on t’internet lie but I don’t understand why onMN people genuinely can’t fathom other people might have this knowledge. There are millions of users on here, and thousands of people or more who know the royal family Intimately; either through friendships or working for them. Why wouldn’t the two overlap?

It’s like when people on here are higher earners and somehow that’s not believable; because rich people don’t use MN?

Sometimes there are things outside your sphere of experience which do actually happen.

But that’s my last comment on the matter because it’s a waste of time.

MrsBrentford · 13/01/2020 10:39

Was it actually Archie though? At the Polo? Baby looked smaller in the documentary Grin

OxfordCat · 13/01/2020 10:39

@GlitchStich yes I know plenty of people find her a pain in the arse. I can understand why they do. Just like I think Diane Abbot is a useless politician. It doesn't alter the fact that they have been the victims of unacceptable racist abuse and in MM's case the mainstream media (Mail) has been leading the charge.

All the time people on here dismiss and poopoo racism with comments like "I'm allowed to dislike her, there's no racism involved" it IGNORES the fact that there is an ABUNDANCE of racist vitriol out there. People are so defensive: "the nerve to say Britain is racist". FFS!! What a completely privileged attitude.

What is so hard about acknowledging the awful racism she has experienced, and condemning it? It's possible to do this whilst also saying that you don't personally like her or approve of her choices.

karencantobe · 13/01/2020 10:40

And Hello did a whole article about all the times Kate touched her baby bump and used it as a reason to say she was a loving mother.

www.hellomagazine.com/healthandbeauty/mother-and-baby/gallery/2019030670524/kate-middleton-touching-baby-bump/1/

Fuzzyhair89 · 13/01/2020 10:40

Ahhh I've been on the school run and sat down and can't catch up now with all these comments. I really want to know today's outcome.

Does anyone think there's hope that his family will talk him out of it today?

karencantobe · 13/01/2020 10:42

No his family wont talk him out of it. I suspect they posted the statement on instagram as the nuclear option. There is no going back.

OxfordCat · 13/01/2020 10:42

So now she's a bitch for cradling her bump??!!!! FFS! This thread is a joke! What will you find to accuse her of next?!!!!

I cradled my bump all the time. It's perfectly acceptable thing to do!!!

If you don't like the choices she's making re the move or whatever then fine. But FFS let her be maternal to her baby.

ElspethFlashman · 13/01/2020 10:43

No, Fuzzy cos "what Meghan wants, Meghan gets"

He's in full White Knight Saving the Damsel mode.

Fraggot · 13/01/2020 10:43

I think the ‘bullying’ would have come from William calling things out, e.g. ‘What do you mean you’re going to the Lion King premier to get Meg a job? Don’t be ridiculous’.

Any attempt to steer or advise them is then labelled as bullying. Just as any criticism is racist or sexist.
