...Scene One?

I think we probably do need a third thread.

@GlitchStitch

I agree. They have always been a family for the 30 years I've exsisted. I find it extremely sad that she's taken our prince away. I know he doesn't belong to us. But he is young, fun, modern and kind. I always figured he'd be around making positive changes and supporting his brother. Ofcourse he deserves his own life too. I also get we don't know the matters of his heart and how he feels. But I find it extremely sad that he doesn't want to be in the UK anymore. I also think it's sad his children won't grow up around their cousins. The queen must feel she's failed. She has worked so hard for years to keep it together and not show weakness at any point. She gets the job done. She's a strong lady. To think she's in her 90s. Incredible! More energy than me I think! I think Harry should be ashamed. He should of let his Grandparents finish their lives before doing this. They wont have many years left. It's going to be so sad when they do pass.

NumbersStation · 12/01/2020 19:47

I would like to think that PP has moved back in to support the queen. It is how it should be. And god love her, I think it would be an immense support to her.

motherheroic · 12/01/2020 19:48

The thing about the press though is that they are constantly putting Meghan and Kate up against each other. It's one thing to just report/give opinions, but it's another when they both do the same thing but one gets a glittering report while the other is thrashed.

@SeperatedSwans

Here's a list of untrue stories that the Daily Mail has got away with printing about her: www.bylineinvestigates.com/mail/2020/1/10/kv913pun97mbewgk1hodcipttt1wfj

FagAsh · 12/01/2020 19:50

@compulsiveliar2019
Load of rubbish
Poorly written pap
Inaccurate goo
Sentimental pish

Honestly why can’t people write their own text rather than copy memes? It’s so fucking lazy

DobbyTheHouseElk · 12/01/2020 19:55

Sorry I don’t really know much about MM. American then...do we think she’s got him an American passport too? I say “she” as in the UK the mother can only apply.

if you havent already then go watch the africa interviews. you can hear every ounce of harrys hatred for the media in his voice. aswell as his heartbreak at the loss of his mother because of them as we are lead to believe at least. he says that he is not going to play a game that got his mother killed.... you will all believe what you want tho. harry has always hated the media and being in the spotlight. the only thing that made the intrusion of his privacy bearable was his mother if truth be told. imagine walking behind your mothers coffin as a small child in front of millions and not being allowed to cry. all the while with a camera in your face. imagine finding out the press ran her car off the road causing a fatal crash all for a picture.... still think its megan now?

Rinoachicken · 12/01/2020 19:57

@DobbyTheHouseElk

I doubt it as he’d then have to pay tax on his assets once he’s an adult - and once he’s an adult he’ll probably have acquired considerable assets through inheritance

SeperatedSwans · 12/01/2020 19:57

@CouldbeAgreatMum

Yes and I have also had my life played out in the press. There's a way you do it, they don't print the truth really and half of what you said even if delivered in writing is cut and pasted to fit their narrative.

What you do is allow the press 3 or 4 days of filling columns. Come back with one statement. Then allow them to print their version of your statement, also ensure you release the same statement word for word on your social media account on the same day. So people can see what was actually said.

Then you step back and deliver silence. You don't go back. That's it. That's how you deal with the press you ignore them and then use them for your own use.

If it's not true don't answer to it, it will only add fuel to the fire, if it is true follow the steps above. It's really not difficult.

Rinoachicken · 12/01/2020 19:59

@MRSsqueak

If he is so desperate for privacy and no media - why then is their whole new plan centred around the media?!

If he wanted to truly give it all up and live quietly somewhere never in the public eye again I could go with that, I understand it for all the reasons you’ve just stated.

But that’s not what they are planning on doing.

Stroller15 · 12/01/2020 20:01

I thought the wedding was beautiful and MM looked stunning. The first time I was like hmm, was in the ITV doc where she said she calls him H in a very affected manner. It's all weird, no family or friends (non A Listers) at wedding, weird birth certificate secrecy, Wimbledon, Disney - surely they cannot be that I'll advised.
I don't think Harry is mentally very well though which is the most worrying.

Tomorrow I'm planning on telling my boss I look forward to collaborating with him in the future ha!

SirVixofVixHall · 12/01/2020 20:02

I thought divorcees could only have a blessing too, maybe the rules have changed ? She didn’t have a church marriage the first time, as she converted to Judaism to marry, so perhaps that was why it was fine to have the full service this time ?
I thought the massive , white church wedding was not terrible appropriate for a second marriage though, I don’t know anyone who has done that second time round.

Rinoachicken · 12/01/2020 20:02

@SeperatedSwans

Exactly. Which is what K&W have done successfully and as a result, you really don’t see paparazzi photos of them and the kids doing random everyday stuff. Because they have struck a balance, they give what they have decided is reasonable access on their terms and the they accept press interest when they are out ‘working’.

Seems to work well and many other celebs. Not sure why H&M haven’t followed the same tried and tested formula.

OxfordCat · 12/01/2020 20:03

This thread has gone from general opinions to nasty bullying. There is so much white privilege on Mumsnet it's unbelievable. I actually think @MNHQ should do more to promote awareness of this issue. I saw a thread about racism nearly shut down recently because they were scared of the subject matter, when in fact this is a daily reality for millions of Britons. Women of colour should be listened to and believed about their experiences of racism. How arrogant of anyone else to dismiss others lived experiences. Almost like a man denying the existence of misogyny.

None of this has any relevance to whether people think H&M have behaved well with this episode. We are free to dislike the royals etc. But the facts are that she has experienced MORE vitriol than the others.

This thread seems to have become populated by Daily Mail subscribers (not everyone- but some very worrying and bitchy comments for a site set up to support women). Even links and evidence to racism and false stories get ignored. Yes, the media has snooped and been mean about other people, but the LEVEL of her abuse has been more, and there is covert (if not overt) racism through it all. Read this documentation from their lawyers if you can't believe that: www.bylineinvestigates.com/mail/2020/1/10/kv913pun97mbewgk1hodcipttt1wfj

Rinoachicken · 12/01/2020 20:03

*Seems to work well FOR THEM AND

Mookie81 · 12/01/2020 20:03

(I'd rather write "Hmm?" as that emoji always makes me imagine people contorting their faces like that and looking a bit stupid instead of wise and knowing. Just a personal preference)

Absolutely no need, none at all.

OxfordCat · 12/01/2020 20:05

@SeperatedSwans you've had your life played out in the media have you? Hmm

beanaseireann · 12/01/2020 20:05

I too think they should send Princess Anne in to that meeting.
She'd sort it out, have it done and dusted in no time. No faffing, no nonsense.
Shall we start up a petition ?
Send in the cavalry Princess Anne Smile

Rinoachicken · 12/01/2020 20:06

@OxfordCat why the Hmm face? it’s an anonymous forum, the poster could be bloody Kate for all any of us know

ElspethFlashman · 12/01/2020 20:07

Yeah they're not renouncing the media. Far from it.

They have two pet journos in their pocket so far - Tom Bradbury and Omid Scobie in the US.

They simply wish to bypass the DM and the Sun by bypassing the Royal Rota (cos the tabloids are in it)

But by God they are going to use the rest of the media for all its worth.

OS works for Harpers Bazaar so that's going to be where the "exclusives" will come from in the future.

Fuzzyhair89 · 12/01/2020 20:07

@rhinochicken

Exactly. He's still wanting to be in the limelight.

What happened to his mum was horrendous. Also I doubt they were given enough support as they were forced to not cry or show pain in public. Then again maybe behind the scenes they were supported.

His mum shouldn't if been in the car that night. Wasn't the driver drinking? Also no seatbelt on Diana? Wouldnt a decent body guard make sure she had a seatbelt on. It's so very tragic but if people all around were being responsible then she would still be alive. Yes the press were animals though. He has no intention of hiding though. He has new plans and will still be in the media.

I do think he has mental health problems. I expect he's severely depressed!

WendyMoiraAngelaDarling · 12/01/2020 20:07

I love the Hmm emoji 🤷‍♀️

yolofish · 12/01/2020 20:07

I really, seriously, honestly dont believe that "people" or the media dislike Meghan because she is black (ok, maybe a tiny percentage but I don't think most give a fig one way or the other).

The reason she is unpopular is because she seems to have been trying to be the proverbial new broom, upset the applecart, do it all her way - and as many have commented, Harry seems to be so much less happy than he was.

Arnoldthecat · 12/01/2020 20:09

As if all the trouble with H&M wasnt enough, there is a scurrilous rumour circulating in some quarters about Wills and the Marquis of Cholmondeley's missus,,all totally untrue of course..
