...Scene One?

I think we probably do need a third thread.

Would meghan have been able to do the voice over for Disney she has just signed the contract for, if she stayed in the RF.
Sounds like she gave Harry an ultimatum to leave the family or her.
Maybe, he'll have more contact with his real Dad when he leaves.
I can't see them living on a council estate though.

WW News:

NOT informing the Queen in advance? Bitter Palace rows. The Daily Mail claiming the number ‘666’ is visible on the scalp of Meghan Markle? With the intrigue, rumours and wild speculation at its peak, WWN gets to the bottom of the only issue worth occupying the world’s interest at this fairly quiet lull in news and current affairs.

What’s really going?

Currently, the UK media, in conjunction with the outraged middle-aged uncles nobody in the family talks to anymore, is still in the hunt for an acceptable slur for ‘black woman’ that doesn’t get them in trouble.

Official quotes from the Queen so far remain her sole remark of “those backstabbing bastards”. The Palace is already holding auditions for the new ‘Harry’ and ‘Meghan’.

UPDATE: Harry and Meghan have sensationally left the official Royal Family WhatsApp group. It’s unclear if they are still members of a side group called ‘Horseface’ which doesn’t include Camilla.

The blame for this abrupt decision to step down from their roles lays squarely at the feet of the schemer that it Meghan Markle, who it can be revealed for the first time, is also the Zodiac Killer.

Thanks to this incredibly important bit of news, the UK parliament voting through the Withdrawal Bill from the EU which could sentence many British people to a life of irreversible inequality and poverty has been largely ignored, with many of those most affected instead taking to the Daily Mail comment section to say racist things about Markle.

It’s unclear if leaving his position will result in more or less press scrutiny next time Harry dresses up as a Nazi.

Madame Tussauds have removed wax figures of Harry and Meghan, Michael Jackson’s one still there though, don’t worry.

“You two think you’re too good for looking down on us lot like we’re shit on your shoes. Treat us like the peasants we are you snobs!” a crowd of loyal Royal family fans chant about Harry and Meghan outside Buckingham Palace.

The couple’s plans to find a residence in the US has been hampered so far by Harry’s horror at learning there’s very few decent places stateside that do a good roast quail.

In the aftermath of the news, our Palace insiders have confirmed the Queen is back on the fags, and doctors believe that Prince Philip may live forever if this heartbreaking news didn’t have the power to kill him off. Philip is in such rude health he has offered to drive the couple to the airport.

Kate Middleton is reportedly wearing a ‘large, shit-eating grin’ safe in the knowledge that Meghan will never be English peoples’ favourite now.

The Palace normally stays silent on trivial matters such as Prince Andrew being best mates with a raging paedophile and sex trafficker, but has been in constant contact with the media over the serious business of two people giving up their job of being paid to do nothing.

The couple’s decision was underpinned by their desire to live a financially independent life, one that will continued to be heavily subsidised by the British taxpayer.

Anne Widdecombe wasn't the only person to predict trouble when MM and PH got engaged.

I remember Germaine Greer saying "she'll bolt."

And she has, effectively.

I don't think it's about pics on insta. They're opting out of the Royal rota (which means royal content is given to a specific media pool and then shared with the rest of the media). Opting out means they can sell exclusive pics to the highest bidder.
But, there will still be posters saying this is all the fault of the media even when H&M are selling themselves all over it (eg M's friends selling stories to US mags with her blessing).

lilmishap · 12/01/2020 18:30

@Drabarni She apparently signed up before they made the announcement, likewise, the TV interview was arranged beforehand.

Jillyhilly · 12/01/2020 18:32

That website that is being repeatedly posted about M and H’s lawsuit really doesn’t do them any favours when you actually read it. It makes them look petty, and utterly obsessed with their own press coverage.

And social media or no, the press has ripped members of the royal family to fucking shreds in the past. That’s still the case no matter how many times you post that link.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 12/01/2020 18:33

It must be hard to have lived in an age where deference and respect awarded because of your position was unquestioned...to be living in an age where any upstart can have their voice heard via social media, and their voice tends to be in the form of a ridiculing meme.

The RF must think that the world has gone quite mad.

CouldBeAGreatMum · 12/01/2020 18:33

@Hepsibar @LordOfTheWhys

And for all those sceptical about the level of racism shown towards MM in the British press and social media:

https://news.sky.com/story/trolling-of-meghan-how-duchess-is-abused-over-race-and-pregnancy-11696606

And also some of the mentioned articles linking Doria to gangs and slavery are linked in this article: https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/jan/11/post-racial-britain-harry-meghan-tabloids?CMP=ShareiOSAppp_Other

AlexaAmbidextra · 12/01/2020 18:34

The Queen certainly wasn’t going to mass! Erm...she’s a Protestant.

The Church of England liturgy is also known as the mass. It isn’t a strictly R.C. term.

crispysausagerolls · 12/01/2020 18:34

@SirVixofVixHall

I suspect (as i did then) that he was never going to walk her down the aisle!

NumbersStation · 12/01/2020 18:38

@Myimaginarycathasfleas - I thought I’d heard it in a dream or something - glad it wasn’t just me. Wink

She’ll quite rightly be sitting in her winceyette annightie saying I told ye so...

As for that Facebook mince?

Trust me. I Don’t think any woman or man who has and enjoys fame and fortune would give it up wholly for love and I would bet that 99.9% would only do so if the grass were greener on the jumped to side. I would posit the notion she cleared the fence with 10ft to spare.

Shame on them if the tell all thing comes to pass.

NumbersStation · 12/01/2020 18:40

Aye @TheMustressMhor

I remember Ms Greer saying that too.

GlitchStitch · 12/01/2020 18:42

God that FB post was nauseating. Yes I'm sure MM very reluctantly gave it all up for the man she loves. The same MM who was smoozing British journalists to try to get a mention in the Sunday papers and is now set to make hundreds of millions and is apparently being advised by the Obamas. What a sacrifice she made for love Hmm

And I'm also sick of all the crap about her Dad. She was singing his praises on the Tig, about how he supported and encouraged her, drove her to auditions, paid for stuff. I suspect he became a bit of an embarrassment when she moved up in the world, a bit scruffy and uncouth and his fate didn't fit.

GlitchStitch · 12/01/2020 18:46

That should be 'face' didn't fit. Although I suspect that sealed his 'fate' too. They never intended him to be at the wedding, otherwise we are to believe that a man who lived a pretty reclusive life was expected to just rock up, meet the entire royal family and walk down the aisle in front of a massive global audience all within a couple of days and with no prior support or preparation. Harry hadn't even bothered to meet him first!

NumbersStation · 12/01/2020 18:46

@GlitchStitch

I don’t think her family have covered themselves in glory but her dad did do right by her when it mattered it would seem.

To me, it is sad that that has been conveniently forgotten.

Dongdingdong · 12/01/2020 18:47

Of course there was always the calligraphy to fall back on.

She does have gorgeous handwriting! Grin

Dongdingdong · 12/01/2020 18:48

Regarding the big talk with the Queen and Prince Charles tomorrow , will it be solely up to them to decide what happens or will they have had to consult lawyers and accountants due to tax implications?

I’m sure the royal family’s legal team have been working round the clock.

Tabbykitty · 12/01/2020 18:48

No creative accounting, any announcement needs to make it absolutely transparent that taxpayers won't be paying a penny towards them including security if they aren't continuing as full time Royals and mainly resident in the UK.

And how could they continue or represent the British public in the Commonwealth after this debacle.

No further public funding, fine, we can wave them merrily on their way and within a short space of time interest in them will wane. Predict their celebrity connections will distance themselves pretty quickly.

Tell all interview? Only if Harry and Meghan want the full truth about their lifestyles over the years prior to their marriage to be published. I doubt it.

Accusations of racism won't fly, the RF visibly welcomed Meghan.

My sympathy only lies with little Archie who unfortunately is not going to have the same stable upbringing surrounded by both paternal and maternal extended families as the Cambridge children are. William knew how important that support would be for his Wife and children.

Butterymuffin · 12/01/2020 18:52

Ok, I was wrong about the children being at the toe sucking (!) Apologies @ElspethFlashman for doubting you and thanks @Chartreuse45 for posting an actual photo. It's all very well people saying they remember but I've been adamant I remember specific things and then been wrong before. The joys of ageing...

Clearly Fergie had even worse judgement than I remember. She has been punished for it though. Didn't she get told to stay in a cottage at Sandringham for Christmas for years so she was near the girls but she wasn't invited to the main stuff or the actual house?

SeperatedSwans · 12/01/2020 18:52

I've looked at that link for SkyNews and in a nutshell the far right don't like her and their little troll groups and she gets 10% or so more online abuse than Kate 🤷🏻‍♀️ And about 20 Twitter accounts constantly troll her.

After reading this I think it's fair to say, grow the fuck up Meghan, more people hate me in my office because I declined to pay for prosecco on tap at the Christmas party 🙄

Needmorecaffine · 12/01/2020 18:53

In saying that Fergie and Diana has it worse, you're ignoring the impact of social media.

I think having photo lenses shoved in your face as you walk out your front door and trying to get in a car and have them follow you everywhere was pretty impactful.

Also mental health and the stress this would cause was not on the radar. Diana has no PR team behind her in those days unlike they would have today and unlike MM has.

GlitchStitch · 12/01/2020 18:54

I don’t think her family have covered themselves in glory but her dad did do right by her when it mattered it would seem.

Absolutely, some of her family seem awful particularly the siblings. But her Dad appeared to be left flailing and posed for some pics to spruce up his image. A bit foolish but hardly the crime of the century. I think he was subsequently ditched and has lashed out through hurt. There do tend to be alot of ditched people in M's wake though, and now in Harry's too if you believe the comments attributed to his old friends who are apparently very hurt.

crispysausagerolls · 12/01/2020 18:54

Anyone else notice that the 10+ “mean” articles re H and M that hit the daily mail last night have all disappeared?! Wonder what that’s about

astralweaks · 12/01/2020 18:56

AlexaAmbidextra

The Queen certainly wasn’t going to mass! Erm...she’s a Protestant.
The Church of England liturgy is also known as the mass. It isn’t a strictly R.C. term.

Yes, yes, of course. I’m sure the poster was referencing the Anglican Church in an oblique sort of way. 🙄

MarshaBradyo · 12/01/2020 18:57

The hounding on the streets would have been bad I agree. I haven’t seen the worst of it re MM on social media, not keen to search it out, but I was struck by a pic of Diana getting away from the press on Instagram recently (90s page).
