Following on from the previous thread, someone asked for another to be created.

Here it is.

Meghan's advisors must be rubbing their hands in glee. I won't name who they are but their list of former clients includes some people where I wouldn't want to be in their company alone.

Let's just say "collaborating with the Queen" isn't a sentence that would have given such a robust outfit any problems at all.

They would have taken a look at our genteel, arcane press operation around the RF, and laughed.

ContentCast
Are you able to write properly?

crispysausagerolls · 10/01/2020 15:27

@cabingirl

That sounds so petulant though - happy to live off daddy but not brother. I really think he is, for some reason, completely oblivious to how wonderful his life actually is.

GinDaddy · 10/01/2020 15:29

@Devereux1 I think ContentCast is some sort of link promoter or something? I don't dare click on their links in case it redirects me to some marketing thing.

TheMustressMhor · 10/01/2020 15:29

I really do not understand your posts ContentCast.

GinDaddy · 10/01/2020 15:29

The code of the URLs they publish is way too long for a newspaper. It looks like affiliate marketing. I might report.

TheMustressMhor · 10/01/2020 15:30

It's okay, I think. The most recent link from ContentCast goes to an article from The Times.

OP posts:
yolofish · 10/01/2020 15:32

No I don't understand ContentCast either...

I tried to read the website today, couldnt stomach much of it tbh. Totally agree with whoever said it looked like a wedding planner and where were the menus!

I suppose in the world scheme of things it is not that important, but it does have diplomatic and political ramifications for the UK. Ohh, lightbulb! Are they leaving before Brexit? Grin

Apparently Hazza will be at Buck House next week to host the draw for the Rugby League World Cup - wonder if they will ambush him at the door?

foxychox · 10/01/2020 15:34

I have a theory that Meghan is obsessed with Diana - she married Harry and is now going to try to relive Diana's life but in the "right" way iyswim? Maybe she's doing it for Harry, but I think she definitely sees herself as Diana version 2 who gets it right.....

Equanimitas · 10/01/2020 15:35

Genuine question, why does anyone care about any of this?

I don't care particularly, hence have barely contributed to these threads. I think they haven't gone about it the right way, and I'm not too impressed that the aim to distance themselves from the family doesn't really involve distancing themselves with a lot of the privilege that goes with being part of that family. OTOH, I can see why they've done this, and after the horrendous level of vitriol directed at Meghan I have quite a lot of sympathy.

In the longer term, it really makes minuscule difference. They were always going to become increasingly distanced from the core family as PH and the child/ren get further away from the phone, and we've always been perfectly happy about outlying family members making their own living.

When they were married, I was pleased that a non-Caucasian was coming into the RF and hoped that it might help to counter racism generally. Unfortunately that just hasn't happened, probably because the whole thing has coincided with Brexit-related increases in racism throughout the country; I regret that it is a missed opportunity, but again suspect that maybe it wasn't going to be possible anyway.

Devereux1 · 10/01/2020 15:36

I think the nation should boo them wherever they go now. There is nothing to cheer about a grown man not upholding his duty.

yolofish · 10/01/2020 15:38

Well, they're certainly not going to be popular! Better if people don't turn out for them I think.

Alsohuman · 10/01/2020 15:38

Can’t see him doing that somehow. I bet William steps in. The establishment is a lot bigger and more powerful than the Sussexes as I suspect they’re about to find out. Meghan may well get everything she wants, she might have to become used to getting what she doesn’t want as well.

yolofish · 10/01/2020 15:40

alsohuman they just said it on Sky News - perhaps you're right though, there will be a diplomatic illness or something - or the RF go into overdrive.

TheMustressMhor · 10/01/2020 15:41

Is anyone else struggling with comprehending why these people need to even try to make a living? They already possess so much money that it's obscene.

The money PH and MM already have ought to be enough for them to live on, even if they don't do a stroke of work from this moment forwards.

This is partially possible, but I think she will, and is, simply recalibrating what she wants.

She did a bloody Vogue guest editorship - she's managed by a PR firm that are "punchy" to put it politely. Her focus and vision is set far beyond that of British red-top media and the Mail's snide columns.

People will boo, and her PR firm will find a way to spin it into the very victimhood narrative which launched this nonsense in the first place.

GinDaddy · 10/01/2020 15:44

*Is anyone else struggling with comprehending why these people need to even try to make a living? They already possess so much money that it's obscene."

Blair would have been perfectly comfortable to put it mildly if he had left Parliament, done the speaking tour, a bit of advisory,

Instead, following his time on Berlusconi's yachts, freebies at oligarchs homes, he wanted an empire for himself.

I fear the same is with the Sussexes. They've just spent six weeks for free at the behest of a rich mate. These aren't people who want to survive for a bit off some existing riches. They will want to host round tables with 25 guests including Musk, Clinton, Obama, Oprah, all hosted at their house and catered.

You need serious, serious money for that. The ambition is what's driving the monetisation.

TheGirlFromStoryville · 10/01/2020 15:45

I for one am glad that they have reached this decision. I hope it shines a light on the rather murky area of Royal finances and the Queen's deliberate(?) blurring of the lines between their independent wealth and that of which is 'held for the nation.'
I'm a republican though so I hope the rest of them decide to quit!

yolofish · 10/01/2020 15:48

Keeping up with the Joneses then? £34m will not actually go that far when you are maintaining at least two houses on opposite sides of the world, have an expensive dress habit, polo ponies, child/ren to educate in top institutions etc etc. (I mean, I know it would keep normal people for the rest of their lives in relative luxury, but these aren't normal people with normal expectations, and they don't mix with normal people)

mrscampbellblackagain · 10/01/2020 15:49

It is interesting how the sussexroyal website is being updated. Pretty sure in the funding bit about security it said they were international protected people as defined by the home office but now that specific phrase has gone.

I can't help imagining Harry on the phone to Meghan - saying 'no they didn't go for that so delete that phrase' Wink

It is uncanny how on the ball blindgossip.com has been with all their predictions. There is a big leak somewhere in the Sussex camp. Well in all the royal camps to be fair.

I also agree with many previous posters that announcing this just after Ricky Gervais golden globes intro was unlucky. The sympathy towards uber rich celebs lecturing people has gone.

mrscampbellblackagain · 10/01/2020 15:51

I actually think security will be the big issue. It is one think having met police covering the RF in the UK for the majority of the time quite another to expect and fund them to be abroad for say 6-9 months a year. The cost would be astronomical and also not sure how attractive the job would be.

I assume serious security can be paid for.

mrscampbellblackagain · 10/01/2020 15:52

I hope they all become financially independent Smile And too right the whole RF's finances are murky as hell.

TheMustressMhor · 10/01/2020 15:52

Well seriously - £34 million would be more than enough for most people.

You could live off the interest. It's not as though they need to buy a house, either. They have plenty of property.

This is just insensate greed.

"And you can bet they won't have their HRH removed because of all the shit heaped on the Firm when they removed Diana's HRH"

It seems to be removed from those who acquired it by matrimony when they divorce. And I expect those who had it from birth might lose it if they relinquish their place in the succession. Neither of those apply here.

Devereux1 · 10/01/2020 15:55

Funny, because that's exactly the reaction it brings out in me. They keep adding chunks onto it, including the bit which even has to explain why the website exists at all. It's changed completely from yesterday, and today it's full of cuddly photos of the RF and patronising explanations of what our monarchy does, when the Queen became Queen, how H&M support her when really they've just defied her, abandoned her, and humiliated her!

I think their PR team is doing exactly what you say mrscampbellblackagain

"try this, what's twitter saying, no? didn't fall for that.. ok, scrap that.. no get it off the page quick, er.. put this on.. yes, the photo of Meghan explaining to a smiling Queen something.. try that... and write something underneat it.. oh god.. I don't know... something about community... and bravery... kindness... no, don't put up any photos of bananas, they don't seem to like those.."
