Following on from the previous thread, someone asked for another to be created.

Here it is.

Alsohuman I agree with you about Camilla. She's never publically hit back in the media which shows great restraint as the criticism really was vicious.

Mind you. It's not surprising Camilla was unpopular at the time. What she and Charles did was wrong.

Until the last few days which exactly had MM done wrong? She hasn't cheated on Prince Harry, she's not a pedophile, she hasn't crashed into anyone with her car, she hasn't offered access to the RF for money, she hasn't been caught speeding. All these are things other members of the RF have actually done. What's her actual crime?

BovaryX · 11/01/2020 20:10

The Africa trip comments were terrible, so ill timed and self centred. They both seem unaware of how to behave in a way that will earn them public respect

SirVix
Precisely. It was grotesquely narcissistic and it highlighted the absolute failure of whoever is briefing them. I think the Diana comparison is interesting, she kissed AIDS victims in the West and leprosy victims in the East. That had a beneficial, perhaps influential effect. Their dire performance in South Africa is in stark contrast.....

SirVixofVixHall · 11/01/2020 20:11

Camilla must love Charles very much. She doesn’t seem to love the limelight, she just gets on with the job.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 11/01/2020 20:14

I think the problem has been expecting someone who had a career, interests, something to say, views etc. to just put it all to one side and become something else

Now that I definitely agree with, but surely the point is that nobody was forcing them to marry, any more than they're forcing them to be "either in or out" now

Those things were and are their own choice, but with choices come consequences - something which, with their stunning sense of entitlement, the RF tend not to understand

eminencegrise · 11/01/2020 20:16

If his one speech offends how do you think this couple feel about the numerous headlines etc?

Colour me fucking mind blown. So sure that a bit of bad press is totally akin to losing your child. You will stoop below middle Earth to prove yourself their greatest sycophant. It's unbelievable.

mindproject · 11/01/2020 20:16

I don't care about any of this fluff and nonsense; I only care that the elite paedophiles aren't allowed to keep on getting away with child rape and murder. If you can't see that this is just a deflection from the real story, then you are either an idiot or complicit.

jollybird · 11/01/2020 20:20

Emin,

I'm sure you would stoop even lower to vilify and castigate this couple.

Seems it's the same for us both.

MissEliza · 11/01/2020 20:21

@Dontsweatthelittlestuff that's a brilliant post. I must confess I used to hate Camilla. I even refused to watch the news when they got married! However she put her head down and worked. She clearly loves Charles and wants to support him. She supports worthy unglamorous causes without wanting the limelight for it eg the osteoporosis society, women's aid. (Moreover I think she's a great example of looking good in your 70s but we can't expect that of MM just yet!)

crispysausagerolls · 11/01/2020 20:22

@jollybird

You have offended so many people on this thread. Are you doing this on purpose?

Puzzledandpissedoff · 11/01/2020 20:22

BovaryX I totally agree about the grotesque narcissism of the "Africa interview", but let's not be too quick to blame those advising them

We'll probably never know what was said, but even the best of advisers can only do so much ... what if the advice was sound but they simply refused to listen?

MissEliza · 11/01/2020 20:24

Sorry Hambledon I beg to differ particularly about Fergie. It must have been awful for her.

Dongdingdong · 11/01/2020 20:28

Over the years she has become a bit of a national treasure.

Pfft, not to me she hasn’t. I haven’t forgotten what she did to Diana and how much hurt it must have caused William and Harry - Meghan is a saint in comparison.

notmoresheep · 11/01/2020 20:29

the timing and way they’ve gone about it is shameful. they could have quietly stepped down and RF issue an announcement when it was done and dusted, announcing it themselves seems like grandstanding. If they really want out what’s all the ‘Sussex Royal’ brand thing about too?

They even did this on Kate’s birthday. So inconsiderate of their immediate family and leaves no doubt now of a rift between the two couples if that’s how they publicly treat their SIL. poor bugger, she’s taken shit from the media for years, topless photos plastered everywhere, affair rumours circulating and not a flicker in public, Megan’s only been in the job for 5 minutes.

and those brothers were so very close, what the hell has happened to that? Even if H dislikes royal life you’d think he’d have spoken to him and had some consideration for his brother, father and grandparents.

hambledon · 11/01/2020 20:29

MissEliza I don't understand this:

Sorry Hambledon I beg to differ particularly about Fergie. It must have been awful for her.

I explicitly said it was awful for Fergie. The press was terrible and I felt for her. I also said other members of the RF have been criticised terribly.

I'm just saying criticism of MM has been far worse and for no particular reason.

eminencegrise · 11/01/2020 20:30

Perhaps in your little mind, jolly, but it appears that's only your personal opinion because several people have already remarked on the insensitivity towards bereaved parents and wild juxtapositions.

I wouldn't have dreamed of making a speech about my parenthood to a group of bereaved parents or whinging about how hard done by I am in an impoverished country where many women die having children due to lack of healthcare.

Most people with self-awareness wouldn't.

So I'm afraid, no, we're not at all the same, jolly. But you're welcome to your delusions.

notmoresheep · 11/01/2020 20:31

agree with Dontsweatthelittlestuff, great post.

Alsohuman · 11/01/2020 20:32

I'm just saying criticism of MM has been far worse

But it hasn’t. It’s no worse than Camilla and Fergie have got. Maybe it just feels like it because it’s escalated so fast.

jollybird · 11/01/2020 20:34

Typical

Resort to insults emin.

I'm not biting.

eminencegrise · 11/01/2020 20:36

@crispysausagerolls So my comment calling JollyBird out on being unbelievably insensitive to those bereaved parents was deleted

Perhaps it was the aggressive manner in how you expressed yourself that led to your comment being deleted, I was pretty shocked tbh.

BovaryX · 11/01/2020 20:39

You have written eloquently on this thread and talked about your personal experience. Many of us reading this have made our own judgments about certain responses to you which reflect extremely poorly on the poster making them.

Dongdingdong · 11/01/2020 20:40

But it hasn’t. It’s no worse than Camilla

What Meghan has done is nowhere near as bad as Camilla (and Charles, for that matter) - she shouldn’t warrant anywhere near the same level of criticism.

jollybird · 11/01/2020 20:43

If people deliberately want to misinterpret my comment, feel free to.

Please do.

And let the hysteria commence.

Good Night.
