Following on from the previous thread, someone asked for another to be created.

Here it is.

I'm not responding to insults on this thread.

It's meant to be civilised debate.

Emmapeeler1 · 11/01/2020 19:12

We all try to be sensitive to the bereaved

Not all that hard in some cases.

astralweaks · 11/01/2020 19:13

Are you really fucking comparing being a “new mother” (her baby is nearly 1 ffs) with being a bereaved mother?

It really is unpalatable, isn’t it?

jollybird · 11/01/2020 19:13

Indeed.

When it's reversed.

Jillyhilly · 11/01/2020 19:14

It's because British people don't like people like H and M or they have been manipulated to think they are a certain type of person who doesn't fit with our idea of the RF.

Blimey that old chestnut. “Ordinary normal British people are too stupid / racist / easily manipulated to arrive at a sensible judgement about this topic on their own. Luckily I, with my far superior intellect, see the real truth of what is going on and must inform the ignorant masses of the “correct” opinion on this subject.” Heard that one before!

astralweaks · 11/01/2020 19:15

There is nothing civilised in dismissing the pain of bereaved parents and blindly offering your allegiance to someone who has been crass in the extreme.

BustedDreams · 11/01/2020 19:15

It’s all very unsavoury. Not so much the wanting to relocate, but how they have gone about it.

Apparently they shipped their dogs over to Canada last year, which kinda feels they never intended to return. Also the last time The Queen saw her great grand child she had been told the family were going away for an extended Christmas break. Then they returned without Archie and MM has already returned to Canada. Effectively they have done a Moon light flit! It seems all the stuff that her sister Samantha Markle was saying these past 2 years has a ring of truth about it. I also think PHs mental health is fragile.

In the Sun it’s reported MM has signed for vice over work with Disney in exchange for a donation to charity.

BovaryX · 11/01/2020 19:16

You find any charity 'hypocritical ' because you think the state should pay for every conceivable charitable enterprise? Your opinion is a minority one. But irrespective of your niche political position, you have failed to grasp the problem with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex using a trip to South African townships to tremulously lament their own struggles to 'thrive not survive'. It is grotesquely narcissistic. Who is briefing them? The RF is a hierarchical institution and Prince Harry is in a subservient position within its hierarchy. Unfortunately, neither the Duke nor the Duchess seem able to perform under these conditions. Once again, why weren't they briefed extensively on the reality of their circumscribed role? Their behaviour has alienated those who previously supported them. To claim that all criticism of them is racist is mendacious and offensive. It's a lazy trope. They have squandered significant good will.

AraGrand · 11/01/2020 19:18

@jollybird You seem to be upsetting a whole lot of people - perhaps you might stop it?

A lot of people gave them 2 years when they married and I thought myself that that was jealousy on their parts and really thought they could go the distance. Now? I give them another 2 years if even that. It's just a walking disaster waiting to happen.

jollybird · 11/01/2020 19:18

Nonsense astral.

astralweaks · 11/01/2020 19:19

This ^^

hambledon · 11/01/2020 19:22

Bovaryx I completely agree with you about what H and M said about themselves on the S Africa trip! I'm not arguing that H and M are great people at all.

My point is simply that H and M are described as lecturing and preaching when they talk about their charitable causes but other members of the RF are not. That's all.

I did not mention racism at all.

AraGrand · 11/01/2020 19:23

As for the royal family and charity? They knighted Iain Duncan Smith - the orchestral conductor of one of the greatest humanitarian denigrations in my living memory.

I really could not give two fucks about Harry and Meghan. I'll sleep tonight with more pressing things on my mind. I guarantee you that they don't struggle with insomnia worrying about the impoverished.

BovaryX · 11/01/2020 19:23

Forgive me if I do not seem to be

jollybird
Your comments on this thread and your obdurate refusal to understand why comments in a symposium on bereavement were inappropriate reflect very poorly on you.

jollybird · 11/01/2020 19:23

I wish them the best and many great years ahead.

Interesting watching their Engagement Interview in light of last few days...

Oakenbeach · 11/01/2020 19:26

@jollybird

Apply the same rules to all.

I agree, and if it is believed Meghan has been treated more harshly it is right to call that out, but even if she has been, the automatic conclusion that it is because she is of colour, and due to media racism is just shit-stirring based on nothing of substance and only serves to widen any race divisions that may exist

jollybird · 11/01/2020 19:28

There are many reasons why, not just colour.

Many other reasons.

I for one am not jumping solely on that.
It's obvious there are other reasons.

Prevegen4U · 11/01/2020 19:31

I read that they are being advised by Obama and his wife. That floored me! Getting advice from Americans concerning Royalty is not going to go in the Royal family's favor. They don't understand how the Royal family operates and furthermore, Americans fought a war to get from under the Monarchy and worst yet, Obama and his wife caused racial division in the U.S. start in 2011 and 2012.

Fuck them all to hell for doing that!! I am in a mixed race family and we are suffering the fall out from that.

But surely Harry at least does? Didn't he say that he "struggles to get out of bed" because of the worry? [wink[

Ilovepinot · 11/01/2020 19:37

No @MissEliza the Australian press are generally much nicer towards MM than the British press.
